I will be heading to Atlantic City in August.

Staying two nights at Borgata, comped, but wanting to try somewhere else other than Harrhas for a third night. I was thinking of the Golden Nugget. Has anyone stayed there recently? I haven't been to Atlantic City in over 4 years and the Golden Nugget may very well have Trump Marina then, really can't remember.

Landry’s has owned the Golden Nugget in AC for about 8 years. It’s one property that I’ve never stayed at and although the casino might be the smallest in town, the bars and restaurants are worth a visit since most of them have Happy Hour deals. The Deck in summer is a great place to see a band with a drink in hand.

I’m partial to the Boardwalk casinos and since you’re going to be in the Marina area for two nights, might be worth it to mix it up. Caesars is right in the middle of the boardwalk and if you have minimal rewards status, you could get a comp or discounted room. I have yet to stay at Ocean, but I’m hearing good things about the place and they have several bars and restaurants that are worth a visit.

Because the summer season is so short, weekend room rates are very high, but midweek rates are more modest. However, with the Ocean Casino Resort and Hard Rock up and running, that’s about 2,300 more rooms to fill.

Golden Nugget is very small, by AC standards. And very Blah in my opinion. The buffet sucks, and I mean really sucks. Hardly any offerings, in a strange room that looks like it was once a small convention or meetings space.

The casino is small as well, and the layout is very scattered. I cant speak for the rooms, but if you are spending 2 days at Borgata, moving over to GN will 100% feel like a downgrade.

I'm with the Hammer suggesting a move to the boardwalk for that extra night. Summer by the ocean really cant be beat. If you haven't been to AC in 4 years, the Boardwalk will be a welcome change.

Caesars is a good option. Tropicana will be mostly new to you if you havent been there in 4 years. You can spend an entire day inside that barn exploring, eating and playing. Oceans might be a good value too. I hear they have been trimming their rates back. That property is beautiful, and I really like the casino.

You really cant go wrong, as long as you dont get a room in the old WWW or Resorts. Any other casino hotel will be good.

Thanks for the advice. I have not reserved a room for that 3rd night yet, but I will soon. I do still have my two nights at my fave AC casino, The 'Borg. Love that place and though I'm sure it's changed since my last visit, it's never let me down. Can already smell that wonderful scent that greets you when you walk thru the doors. Hope they still do that!

Mark me up for another vote for staying the third night on the boardwalk.

If it was me I would choose Ocean. I have only been in there to eat and gamble, but I loved it. It's the closest to Borgata in terms of class and clientele.

I mean going in August, I would want to be on the boardwalk at least 1 night. Unless you absolutely hate the boardwalk and beach I would for sure try Ocean or Hard Rock. Also if you were thinking Harrah's maybe look at Caesars.

    FYI

Hard Rock is still doing their tier match. I know that they will do the tier match over the phone and book your comp room then just verify and get your card when you arrive.

Not every casino will do this over the phone and may be a way to get a nice comped room on the boardwalk. It will also put you a 10 minute walk on the boards from Ocean Casino.

I’m going to do my best to find something on the boardwalk. But, being as I haven’t set foot in AC for so long, I have no comps anywhere. Frankly, I’m surprised that Borgata still sends me anything at all. Probably b/c that’ was my go to casino back when I went on a more regular basis.

What date are you looking to find a place on the boardwalk? You have a pretty good network of AC regulars that may be able to help lead you in the best direction if you have a date or dates you are looking at.

I only want one night at a boardwalk casino. It would be the night of August 20 checking out the 21. I'm merely Sapphire level in MGM's world so I imagine that is what I would be (lowest tier) everywhere else. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You may run into a problem, as I believe Thunder Over the Boardwalk is on the 21st. It's an airshow, and when we went a couple years ago there were close to half a million people there. I would book something asap!

And as an FYI, traffic was horrendous!

We go down usually the day before the Airshow and that's the 20th, good luck. Not sure if we're going this year.

Well, craziest thing just happened. Got an offer from CET for 4 free nights between June 2 and August 30, $115 in slot play and 60 rewards credits.:woot:So, I will try to stay 2 nights on the boardwalk at Ceasars and my 2 at Borgata. But may change the week due to the air show. :woohoo:

All set. Going the week before (8/11-8/14) b/c I didn't want to be there the week of the airshow and staying one more night than originally planned at Caesars. Very excited! Happy Memorial Day to everyone. :usa:
