I have a trip planned coming in this Sunday am, and leaving Sat am.
I have been using Costco to book a small SUV.
Originally, I had Alamo about $220, then that kept dropping.
As recent as last night, it was $191.

Today, I rechecked, and Budget has the same car now for $189.10, so I booked this and Canceled Alamo.
It's only a few bucks, but that's a few bucks saved! LOL

It is amazing how prices can go down the CLOSER we get to arrival. Must be the Uber effect.

    And, and..... oh my....
just booked direct through Budget, using one of their offers plus $15 cpn, and got the price to $167!

That's now $22 less. Kissed Costco's offer to the curb!

Just checked mine for August through Costco. Price is higher (intermediate from Alamo), $227 vs $198. Could switch to economy/compat (whichever is the smaller one) at Budget for $180, but I'd rather keep the bigger car as we will be doing a day trip.

So far I am holding a 7 day rental on a mid sized SUV with Alamo for $218.99 Total. I have checked daily for the past 3 weeks and so far this is the best. I will be in Vegas in 10 days so I will keep checking.

I kept checking rates up to the day before my trip (I usually get there first thing in the morning but I checked and changed my reservation 6 hours before my trip). Rates even change throughout the day so best to check a couple of times a day for lower rates.

As for the rates, rental agencies probably have some kind of algorithm that calculates rates based on number of rentals available, how often they were booked and a "guesstimate" on future rentals. Rates go up if a higher number of people are booking, down if not as many are booking.

:woohoo:I just checked my Alamo SUV rental again. It is now down to $199.05 Total for 7 days beginning May 21. Like makikiboy said, keep checking multiple times a day, every day. This was the third time I checked today and it went down tonight. I still have a few days left before I leave and I will continue to check and recheck.

I’ve rebooked my rental twice (with Enterprise) from 360 down to 296 for a week May 23-29. Just rebooked this morning with Budget for 206. So pumped to use that $90 to make some extra cash!

Edited to change date since has a typo.

I booked directly with Alamo. One thing I did was search the web for coupons and codes. I found a couple with $25 off. You have to try each code because even though they offer $25 off, the total price seems to be different depending on the code. I also have several contract ID;s I try. I am a Costco member so I used the Costco ID 7014627 and this Visa coupon AD8698SDF which gave me the price of $199.09 total.
Here are some Contract ID's (Some will ask for membership ID when you try booking the reservation, like Costco, but I have forgotten to enter mine from time to time but it still worked) Many business, airlines etc. have their own contract ID's. The day I leave I fill out the information to skip the line and go directly to the car (I am an Alamo Insider).

    Contract ID;s

    Alamo 7014926
    Visa 7015504
    Master Card 7013993
    American Express 7014291
    American Casino Guide 7015000
    AARP 7013463
    BJ's 7015424
    Southwest Airlines 7016141

Below are Discount Codes Depending on the rules and expiration dates, some may work and some may not. Give them a try.

AD2823JAK Max 3 day rental for $25 off

    AD2843DJA Weekly rental $25 off

    AD2824JAR Weekly rental $25 off

    AD2837DJS Weekly Rental $25 off

    AD2863JMA $10 off $100 - $15 off $125 - $25 off $175 - $75 off $600

    AD8698SDF Weekly rental $25 off

As you can tell I was more interested in the weekly codes than the short term codes. There are more 3 day codes out there but I did not copy them.

Good Luck and I hope these help!

I really recommend Turo. I would say for Vegas, though, it seems to be dominated by people with a mini fleet of higher end luxury and sports cars. This happened to be just what I needed for my trip: 1 day with an F-Type for half what a similar car would cost at one of the luxury rental places.

A lot of people on Turo will offer a $25 coupon for first time users. Even if you're looking for something more standard for several days it's worth it and there are a lot of options. Many will pick up/drop off at the airport or hotel for free with at least a 3-4 day rental.

I am overjoyed. I just check Alamo again and my 7 day midsize SUV rental went down again. It is now $179.22 total. I am 4 days out and it just keeps getting better.

The timing on this thread has been great. I've been able to drop my rental price nearly in half (since the thread was started) from $296 to $165 for 6 days starting next week! Thank you @MGinCO
