for a comprehensive list of all things Video Poker, the what and where, limits etc!
Just because a VP machine is full pay doesn't guarantee a win in the short term, but losing can be fun also with free drinks and hours of low cost gambling as long as you know the strategies

As an avid VP Player once said, "The second best thing playing video poker is losing!"

I check it every few weeks if not sooner just to read the list of updates. Where new paytables are what's being removed etc. Just to check the pulse of vp. This site vpfree and one other I keep open in my phones browser all the time for quick access.

I just laminated a couple of homemade strategy cards today to give myself more variety. Anyone ever been confronted for using strategy cards?

No and it would be a surprise if that happened.

The bartender at Excalibur asked about mine, since I had it sitting right out on the machine. I just said I use it for those hands that aren't super intuitive--like two to a Royal--it was a conversation starter.

I am not good at memorizing strategy, so I like to have it as back up. I wish I had a good strategy card for DW or some of the other games, but I just stick to JOB.

    Actually, I prefer to be continuous. :) :) :)

But seriously, when I do DW, I will often times have the strategy chart on the phone and I've never attempted to hide it and never been confronted about it.

I made a dw44 and a bdlx yesterday. Use Excel and size 8 font. I do flip cards with the pay table % on one side and strategy on the udder side. I used extreme abbreviation in order to fit it and still be readable. I've never been asked either but have felt a bit paranoid. The strategies I use are from the Wizard; hats off to that guy. I play about twice per year and don't practice so there's no way I would remember anything.

I have used a laminated strategy card for years and never had an issue. I really only pull it out for that rare hand I do not have memorized.

Paper strategy cards are legal. Using your phone isn't, but I've never heard of a casino prosecuting.

In this day and age there are sooooo many people sitting there checking out something on their phone that I don't think they have any way of "enforcing" anyone peeking at a strategy chart.

Looks like Emerald Island casino is the only place with penny 9/6 JoB game. Has anyone been back from that casino lately? Can you let me know if it is easy to find a seat at their JoB machines?:) I'm pondering about a trip to that casino during Labor's Day weekend, but a bit worried about finding a seat at their video poker machines.

Yes in practice you're right, they aren't going to enforce it nowadays, even though it's technically illegal. And the negative PR could be huge if they did go after someone. Casino still makes money on negative machines, even if they are played perfectly.

If emerald island had more than 10 people playing all these machines at the same time, I'd be a bit surprised.

I haven't been to the place, but its small and out of the way.

As long as you avoid the busiest times, I would think you could get a seat. Also since it's cheap VP, it will probably be more open later than earlier in the day. I could see retirees on fixed income liking these.

One of the problems with talk about winning is that a pair of Jacks through Aces - you didn't win anything you just got you money back. I always get annoyed the the IRS counts your bet as part of your win for a W-2G. Yes, I know once you put the money in the machine it's not your money any more, but if you buy a stock your commission becomes part of your cost basis and your cost is subtracted from what you get back to determine your gain be it short or long term.

I see a lot of pictures of "old" people winning at that casino; it does look like a place for retirees to hang out. I really like their 9/6 JoB 10-play penny machines. I can play 150k hands/trip without breaking my bank account haha. For sure I'll visit this casino this year to see what's like. The draw back about this casino is that it does not have a hotel so I might have to stay at the Fiesta Henderson and take a cab to Emerald:(

Getting back to VPfree2, if you notice inaccuracies, let them know. They will make the changes. I've reported changes (always for the worse, unfortunately) to them several times via their website and they thank me and make the appropriate updates. We can all help keep the site current.

    Lol

I would have liked to see her play and see how correct she was. Was this back in the 9/6 coin-dropper days (RIP)? It's rare to see anyone play VP at Fitz now.

No, it was actually recent. I was playing 9/5 DDB at the bar. She was beyond annoying and beyond stupid. You're right, VP conditions are worse than pitiful at The Fitz.
