I had a hard time making a web search spit back what I wanted. Are there any sites that track the rate at which comps are awarded for various properties? I realize that might be a tad subjective, but it seems likely that some degenerate like me would have started tracking that stuff!

I’m certainly not chasing comps, but my upcoming trip is the first time I have called a host and concentrated my play enough to earn some comps. I am trying to get a loose idea of what I might expect going in.

    Thanks!

Various postings on this site is your best bet. Even then, much of it seems to be a magic wheel with double secret hand shakes.

I am pretty sure there is no site that just lays it out.

Are you getting any upfront offers from any casinos now?

I’m not. Years ago I was a CET player, home casino was Bally’s. I’d get a few offers a year for reduced room rates and such. But even back then, I didn’t really deal with a host, I just swiped my card or flashed it to the pit boss.

For reasons that would merely bore everyone, I dropped my Vegas habit for more than a decade and am just now picking it back up. As my countdown timer shows, I am going to The D in June.

I have a host, and she gave me a rough idea of what might be done if I play at the level we discussed. I was just looking for other insights into what I might expect.

But I didn’t want to be the guy starting a thread asking, “hey, what kinda comps can I get at The D?” :goofy:

I agree with @nostresshere that posting on this board (though unconfirmable) are your best bet.

However, make sure that you provide reasonably accurate information in order that you get a reasonably accurate estimate, including.

    For table games:
    Game
    Average bet
    Period of time

    For Slots/VP
Coin in (not loss budget, not time played)

If you were playing at that level at CET and got reduced room rates, then you should not expect too much in comps. The D might cover some meals on the back end. Maybe the room... but if you play at that similar levels, probably not.

But - as said, I am guessing. As an earlier poster mentioned, share your expected play and some folks can be a bit more accurate.

Totally agree with @DaiLun and @nostresshere

That being said if you want to figure out how much you should be looking for you can guesstimate that for yourself. I say guess because you won't know the exact hold used in rating but can have a general idea.

If playing a table game, when leaving ask for and confirm your rating with the pit boss. Say you played black jack at the D for 4 hours at 100 per hand. The casino will have a set number of decisions they anticipate per hour google suggests it will be around 65 but it could vary. That means 6500 dollars per hour as your calculation times 4 hours is 26,000. Apply the calculable house edge to this number and you get the theoretical hold (how much they expect to make from you.) Say it's 1 percent that means you should earn the casino $260. From that the rough estimate is that casinos will comp around 30% of that number. It could be as low as 25% or maybe as high as 33% depending on host relationships and properties. That would make your comp value approximately 78 dollars for that session.

It may seem daunting, but it really isn't. Depending on the game you play, the holds are usually readily available and pit bosses will tell you your numbers. If you play slots, it's even easier to calculate as you typically earn points at a set rate of coin in. Multiply points x rate of earn and you get coin in for slots then multiply that by the hold. In 2019 UNLV lists the average strip slot hold at 8.52% So anything close to that will get you close. V/P is a little more complicated as casinos vary significantly on the hold applied (could be the best game on the machine, or worst game, or based on perfect play, or allowing for errors).

This may be a little more detailed than you were looking for, but I have found that when I first dealt with my host, knowing my statistics really showed I knew what I was doing and what I should expect. I play 10k per day in Video Poker I also mix in a few thousand in slot play depending on wins and some table play. For that I get a room any time I want in Atlantic City and meals for myself and wife.

@alexm That’s really good stuff. Thanks!

@nostresshere My bankroll for this upcoming trip is $2k. (Yeah, I know, I’m a microorganism inside of a minnow.) I plan on about $1500 of craps/BJ at $20 per roll/hand. The remaining $500 will be for VP and a few progressive slot pulls.

I absolutely don’t expect much in the way of comps.

It doesn't take much to get comps at the D. But, you're quoting bankroll, which is a very nebulous number.

I agree with Dailun. Your action and NOT your bankroll is what casinos look at. If you want a better guideline on the relationship between your action and D or Golden Gate comps, log on to TheD website and look up your win-loss statements (including for the current year). Based on your action you will see how your associated on-line comps move up as well as down. Here is an excerpt for my win-loss statement for 2018.

Here are my comps and my coin in on video poker per day...

Golden Gate: $3,800 coin in for one day december 2018 and now have offers for three nights, $15 in food and $20 free play.

Red Rock: stayed two nights in december 2018 and averaged $4,700 per day. Also fiddled around a bit at Palace Station but less than $1,000 coin in per day. Red Rock offering 3 nights during week.

Four Queens: Have played there over the years and not quite sure of my exact coin in on vp per day but likely around $2,500 per day. Some minimal free play such as $10 on occasion and only offers i received for the summer were $89 for weekend and something close to $40 during the week.

Plaza: Not sure about my coin in per day but have played a few random days there and likely averaged $750-$1,000 coin in per day. No offers.

El Cortez: About same amount of play as Plaza. Received an offer from them for a few free nights but no offers since then.

Caesars group: Have stayed at Paris multiple times on comps mid week during off times like mid december after rodeo week. Not sure of my coin in there per day but I believe its less than $1,000 per day honestly. Spent a few bucks at the restaurants and booked a cabana last summer. Still receiving comps for week day stays from the caesars group properties except caesars hotel, cromwell and NOBU.

M Life: played sporadically there from 2014-2016 and figure most of the play was at Mandalay Bay and mirage during that time period ... likely less than $1,000 per day. Started receiving discounted rooms from the various properties. Stayed 4 nights at Delano in July 2018 and averaged $1,260 coin in per day at Mandalay during that trip as I was busy with the family. After that stay, started receiving offers for 3 or 4 nights at Luxor/Excalibur and 2 nights at Mandalay/Mirage/NYNY/MGM. Discounted rooms at Aria/Bellagio. Stayed 2 nights at Mirage in December of 2018 and averaged $4,450 per day on vp. Played one day at Mirage in March of 2019 and put in $4,000 coin in on vp. Still getting 2 nights on weekdays/slow periods at Mandalay/Mirage, etc.

South Point: Played a few hours there in December 2018 and no offers to my knowledge.

Boyd Group: Used to average $4,500 a day there on vp before the players club change. Used to get offers from most of their properties. After the change, only get offers from Fremont for 2 nights.

I likely left a few out but hope this helps you. Tried to stick to last few years to stay relevant.
