    My Trip Report

I debated whether to write a TR, but here goes.

I came down with bronchitis 5 days before our trip. Doc put me on antibiotics and a codeine cough medicine and I thought I could tough it out. It turned out ok, but my stamina was shot. In bed early every night. I never saw 11 PM.

EB on SWA leaving Milwaukee A49 & 50. Easy flight, on time and FA never collected drink tickets. Early win!

Check in at Cal at 1PM and the mini-suite was ready. Room 1735 facing East in the West tower. Very quiet room next to the ice machine and the stairwell.

VP gambling pretty much sucked this trip. I hit this on Friday and still ended up -$900 for the day.

Saturday, Sunday & Monday were just a repeat of Friday. Win some premium hands on DDB, then give it all back and then some.

Friday dinner at 777, but nothing picture worthy.

Dinner at Second Street Grill on Saturday. $120 on the Gold Card. My wife had the prime rib and I had the NY Strip smothered in gorgonzola and pesto mashed spuds.

Sunday, Mother’s Day, we had dinner reservations at Redwood, but my wife was feeling ill, so we canceled those and just ate at 777 again. Again, nothing to brag about.

My wife did hit her 38th Royal on machine #3 at Boar’s Head on Sunday morning. She held 2. In the end, she came home -$600. Welcome to the variance of DDB, which has now become her game of choice. She also got a $5 scratch card.

    $5 scratch.jpg

Monday, we sat outside and lunch at Triple George. We tried Hennesy’s first, but all the outside tables with a Fremont St view were occupied. It is a great people watching location.

Work on Circa (old Vegas Club) was going on 7 days a week. Two big cranes in place. Lousy picture from the street outside Cal.

    Circa.jpg

I am not a morning person, but our flight back was at 8:05 AM, so up at 4:30 to catch the limo at 5:45. On time flight back and again the SWA FA’s didn’t collect any drink coupons.

Numbers, my wife lost $600 and I lost $3,000.

Bconned numbers: Tier credits: 2,205. Now at 11,084. I switched to quarters the last day to try and stop the hemorrhaging.

Bconned points: 297,036. Up 221,696. I cashed out 600,000 points in April.

With four more trips this year, I guess I might keep Emerald for one more year. Not that we will ever take one of their free cruises since you have to pay to fly to either Ft Lauderdale or San Diego, to catch a cruise.

One of the VMB said leaving your machine in mid-hand, it wouldn’t drop out. Wrong! I had an extended bathroom call, left the machine waiting to hit draw and the card reader still dropped out. So there went my time on machine credit. Back to zero.

Ugh. I guess you'll need your wife to occasionally poke at your machine now if she's around?

And sucks to hear about the gambling. Losing more than 3 times theo is never a good time! :( Hope you can find Royals and AWAK next time!

I forgot this one. On our SWA flight back to Milwaukee yesterday, Carrot Top was on-board a few rows in front of us. He's performing at Potawatomi tonight.
I don't know what he is taking, but his face really looks f*cked up.

Joe i read where he was taking some codeine cough medicine and antibiotic for something or other. His appearance is just one of the side effects.
That what someone said....someone who knew a guy----

I always remember crap after I post a TR. After we ordered a round of drinks, the lady sitting next to us hands me 4 SWA drink coupons that don't expire until Nov 30th. The FA never collected for our two rounds, so double score!! :woot:

Thanks for the Trip Report. Too bad despite the premium hits (and a Royal even!) that you and your wife came out in the negative. Such is the allure of DDB.

That Prime Rib at 2nd St. looked awesome! My wife and I gotta find ourselves back there one day. I had a ginger-infused snapper on a bed of rice and vegetables last time there. It was so big it covered the rice and veggies under it and I thought all I was gonna eat was the fish. The actual dish is the pic on my avatar, by the way.

    Carrot top looked scary.

Thanks for the pics on Circa. I think I will ask for a high floor on the East tower facing Circa so I can chill in the room and watch construction. I love watching and figuring out logistics as to how they are gonna build it.

Hope your next trip is better gambling wise.

Thanks for the report. Bummer to have been sick beforehand. Hope your remaining trips this year are winning ones! Interesting that Carrot Top was on your flight.

Retirement is wonderful! Probably not back to Vegas until Sept, but doing a staycation in Milwaukee next month, Seattle in July. There is so much to do around here in summer. WI State Fair, Summerfest and all the local festivals. We're pretty cooped up here most of the winter, so when summer rolls around, everybody has a celebration every weekend. On the lakefront Summerfest grounds, they have an Irishfest, Polishfest, Mexican Fiesta, Gay Pride Fest, Germanfest, Afrofest etc. We usually hit one or two of those.

The big Farmers market in West Bend, WI opens tomorrow and runs every Saturday until Oct. and the big Germanfest festival in Germantown, WI starts tonight.

We wouldn't normally leave here in July, but we have been to Seattle four previous times in July and only had a sprinkle on one day, for a hour or so. That has become a tradition. Love the city, love the weather that time of year.

I used to think that it was because of rumored steroid use, but after reading a couple of interviews, in my opinion it was just a bad facelift.

I always thought steroids, just because of the way he bulked up.

Thanks for posting your TR, I wasn't sure if you were well enough to travel. Hope you and your wife are healthy again. Sucks when one doesn't do win or break even. Summer activities sound like a lot of fun! I enjoy going to Farmers Markets in our area. Have a great summer.

    Thanks for the report @Joe.
Gald you made the trip and it wasn't too bad for you illness wise.
I never seen a $5 scratch card. Well, I haven't got any since they changed Bconned program.
Gone are the Gold Cards and the scratch cards.

@JeJas The Gold Card and scratch cards are still there. So far, no cut backs in our comps under the new program. But, we have been throwing more play to DTG and Four Q in case it happens.

    Good for you @Joe !
I tend to believe you are an exception, either because you are nice or your host is nice, probably both.
I am not the only one was cut off the Gold Card.
Based on your theo of your play, it is way below the level at which they are offering Gold Card to other people.

@JeJas Perhaps also, it comes from being a 20 year customer at MSS. I don't know. We have had the same host for probably 15 years and now on our second general manager. 4th or 5th slot director etc. VP falls under slot director duties.

Just a question, isn't it still worth it? Pay for a flight and get a free cruise? Sounds like a deal to me, unless there are other fees that you have to pay that you haven't mentioned.
