    My Trip Report

We are less than a week from what may be our last trip to Las Vegas in 2019. While I like to go in the fall, the combined cost of our January 21st Birthday Trip and the other vacations/trips we have planned this year make it doubtful we will get out before we head to town for Super Bowl Weekend (and one more 21st Birthday celebration!).

We’ll be heading out from HOU to LAS on a direct flight Friday, 5/10 on Southwest. We have “Early Bird” and my wife has a temporary upgrade to A-List, so I am hoping that are boarding numbers are not too bad. I forgot to grab some drink tickets from eBay, so we may have to pony up for some cocktails on the way out. Southwest is our go to—we don’t like everything about the airline but the Companion Pass sure does offset some of the things that bug us!

The limo will be there for arrival and we will head to the wonderful Aria Sky Suites for five nights in a “Sky Suites One Bedroom Penthouse—Strip View.” Total cost, with an offer, $225. The offer came with $250 in free play and $150 in resort credit. We’re looking forward to lunging by the Sky Suites pool every day (weather permitting, of course), a few good meals, and three shows.

Meals Planned—three of four are new experiences; we enjoyed Andiamo last fall

Charlie Palmer Steak for the “Cut of the Week”
Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Steakhouse at The D
    Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill
    Mon Ami Gabi

    Shows

    James Taylor 5/11
    Wayne Newton 5/13
    Celine Dion 5/14

One of our daughters is flying in from San Antonio on Monday, 5/13. She will be going with us to Wayne Newton. He will go with my wife to see Celine Dion; she enjoys Celine much more than I do. I am sure I can find something to do while they watch the show!

I may take our host at the Luxor up on an offer to go to breakfast and discuss our Super Bowl trip. We need four or five rooms again; I have good pricing and we will see what offers may go against one of the rooms, but I can use a little help making sure the rooms are close together, etc.

We’ll spend some time on Sunday night using free play/match play downtown. We always enjoy playing down there and, as I have said before, it could always be a destination for us outside of pool season. At least for now, we are really enjoying the Sky Suites pool—this will be our fourth trip using it one way or the other (Sky Suite, standard room on Sky Suite floor, and pay the darned fee for entry).

We will be returning 5/15. I am 100% sure the days of fun will pass way too quickly but the memories will endure!

As usual, I am here much more as the time nears for a trip...looking at every trip report I can!

We did stop by Golden Nugget Lake Charles last week overnight. We had a nice meal at Chart House with about $105 of the bill taken care of from food comps. We also saw Boz Scaggs--he put on a really good show. Gambling was not so good...

It was fun, but it wasn't Vegas!

Sounds like a fantastic trip planned! I saw James Taylor on 4/27 and it was a fantastic show!

MAG IMO is great any time of day, including dinner with the fountain show, but I love breakfast/brunch there and if brunch on Saturday or Sunday, you'll have the fountain show from noon on.

Hope you have a great trip!

Weather is still an issue...it is going to get stormy around here the next day or so. The first storms passed, but more to come...

A flooded house next door and a house destroyed by a lightning strike just a few hundred yards away have us just a bit on edge!

At the airport....not before another huge storm, a subpoena, emergency surgery, a water well issue, and who knows what else.

Ready to get on our way!

Plane is here. Upgraded to A6/A7...we get four refunded a year and our “year” ends in June.

Full flight, as usual. Three flights canceled today that were headed to Vegas. That would easily fill any remaining seats.

You aren't going to eat in any of the restaurants in Aria?

    We tried Javier’s last time.

I am not in charge of restaurant selection!

Boarded 40 minutes late due to a flight attendant not being here yet. Got the exit row seat with no seat in front of it.

Sent a short note to SW via social media asking why they had us line up knowing they did not have the requisite number of FAs to board and no “Stand in” available. Boarding started right after the last FA arrived.

Can’t wait to read along! The Sky Suites have forever ruined hotel rooms from anywhere else for me. Have an amazing time!
