Thank you so much @jacu! I've never set foot in Wynn, so it would be unfair for me to comment. I want to though, as it has MANY fans, and I think I'd be one too ;)

Lots of young people I know who go to cosmo dont gamble at all. But they pay for the room. Cosmo attracts the rich kids, and there are LOTS of them. Trust me.

Im 31 and I do gamble, and I'm FAR from a rich kid. But I do get comps ..... I'm probably not young anymore however haha.

This, right here. I’m 53, and Mrs. SM is older than me. On vacation, especially Las Vegas, we behave like miscreant teenagers at a kegger in the woods.

You’re as old or as young as you feel...every casino is as lively or as dull as you make it.

They do have a high base retail rate. But they always have a 20% off 60-days-in-advance promo running and often a 33% off promo for near dates when they have excess inventory.

Those that I know pay full retail. They pack in the room with 6 people or at minimum 4. When you split it four ways they're paying just as little as you.
When those who split it four ways stay at lower end resorts then you're paying hardly anything. Lol.

I don't play there so I never stay there because the rooms aren't worth full price.

I like that reference to a "kegger in the woods", @Syringe Monkey. Good one.
We like to tell our friends we're going camping in the desert when headed out for a Vegas trip. :biker:

At 31 you’re just one step above a baby. I mean that in a nice way. I would give anything to be 31 again.

My original intention was to add Cosmo to the 21-35 group, but I agree with an earlier post. Go where you wanna go!

The OP question had zero to do with going where you wanna go, it was just a general question.

    Planet Hollywood
    Cosmo
    MGM Grand
    Mandalay Bay

Honestly, it really depends what these people/age groups are looking for... I'm 34 myself and I could do just about any of those places.

I disagree with ffejry and others who use age as the main segmentation between casinos. I would argue that price is overwhelmingly more important. I don’t think we need a list for that. A simple online search for the daily rate roughly gives you this.
The range of age is much wider at each casino than the range of income and spending potential.

I guess part of the problem is the way the OP is stated, you could take the question as “categorize people who pay to stay at x”, or “categorize people who hang out at x, but stay somewhere else”, and those have very different answers.

Stayed at Venetian, Ballys and various downtown properties when I was in my 20s and didn't feel out of place one bit. Seriously, with huge hotels like Vegas strip properties with several 1000 rooms, there will be newborn babies up to 80+ staying in every property every night. There is no "right" age demographic.

Isn’t there a general correlation between age and income/discretionary income? Not many people make more money when they’re in their 20s or 30s than their later years. Also there are some properties that cost about the same but have different amenities and ambiance that will typically appeal more to one demographic over another. OP was looking for a general guideline IMO, so one shouldn’t be offended if where they stay isn’t being categorized as the same demo as they are.

I think it may be less about how much money is made within a certain age bracket and more about how much free cash they have. As you get older and have kids and other bills etc you may be earning more but your disposable cash may also lower.

There is obviously an average demographic as far as statistics go but I imagine the variation is alot lower these days.

Yeah, I don't think age is necessarily a good demographic marker for Vegas resorts. Obviously, some anecdotal experiences, such as the Go Pool @ Flamingo trends younger and drunker, whereas the gaming at the Flaming Oh might be more - how do we say this - cholesterol & hair color conscious. And discretionary income is a factor. You might find Vegas to be a load of fun with you - and five of your friends - wedged into a room. Then, maybe by the time you're a tad older...that ain't happenin'.

I've read and re-read the original question and have one of my own: Was the intent to assess the HOTELS or the CASINOS for the various age groups?

Well like I said, it was just a general question to have fun with, not brain surgery
