When we lived in Las Vegas, we didn't have any problem going to Jerry's and never felt uncomfortable. But then we would go for the best prime rib dinner in Vegas at the Opera House (when the chef wasn't in jail.) We were 2 old ladies in our 60s then and were very aware of our surroundings. I've been approached by more dipshits on the strip then I ever have been at the outliers.

If I may add this: I found the player’s club employees, dealers, and security staff exceptionally friendly on my last trip there. I was on a coupon run but really wanted to hang around a bit and maybe try their coffee shop. Hoping to get back there next trip.

I've heard the Silver Nugget is supposed to be more dangerous than Lucky Club. I've not been to either, but I'm willing.

I like the Silver Nugget better and prefer the food at the Silver Nugget over the Lucky Club the Lucky Club has longer hours at there table games than the Silver Nugget neither one has better slots or vp to me in that area there about the same. We have been to both at all times of day or night never felt unsafe at either one. We love the Western Grill at the Silver Nugget great food really cheap prices we only go to these 2 to gambling because of coupon runs with out coupons we would not go there just to gamble but would still go to eat at the Western Grill. These 2 casino's are under the same ownership and use the same players club if i remember right.

We've never been to Jerry's Nugget, the Silver Nugget or the Eureka. I just looked at each website and they all have a number of selling points that will ensure we visit them this Summer. Thanks to all for the information/insight.

Jerry's Nugget is my favorite of the local dive casinos. Good blackjack, good LVA and ACG coupons, good food.

I like exploring these places, too. But watch the buffets in these "Larry the Cable Guy" joints. You know, the ones where you have to scrape the crust off the salad dressing...

Sorry I hadn't reported in...this past trip was the single worst trip I've ever had and didn't want to relive it!

However, the one bright spot I had was Jerry's. Is it for everybody? No. Was it the greatest sign-up deal that ever was? Yes. Yes. Yes! I played there for approximately 2.5 hours and then enjoyed my comp at the coffee shop. Did I lose - no. I literally spent the $5 on a Lyft and that was it. I can't say enough about the friendly staff and the food was solid at the coffee shop. Gambling seemed better except for the VP paytables. I do have to say I was disappointed in them. As far as the area: I didn't feel it was bad at all. Maybe because I grew up relatively poor, but other than the strip club across the way...during the day it looked like any other older section of LV. Maybe night time brings out all the hooligans? lol.

Thanks for all of the information and I'm looking forward to taking my DH there for dessert. He's eyeballing the strawberry shortcake!

Oh and a side note for those that haven't been, but are considering...the promotion (once you've gotten your card) literally does all the work. Play and then on the screen it will flash what you've received at that point. Everything is loaded automatically to the card - the only thing you need to go to the Gift Shop/Players Club for is the Tshirt. So EASY!!!

The proximity to the Palomino is a feature, not a bug. :poke:

They can call themselves whatever, I'm certainly not going to beat them up.
I am not a fan of any of the ones you mentioned.
Many truck stops with 5 VP machines call them casinos,
and you know what, if I pass-by, I even put in $5 and play a couple of hands.

I think this is kind of a pointless semantics debate, especially because your personal biases ("I am not a fan of any of the ones you mentioned") seem to be shifting the goalposts a bit here.

Legally, any place of business that offers gambling through methods such as machines or tables is a "casino". Whether it's a truck stop with five video poker machines, or whether it's the MGM Grand, there is no question that either of these places, or any places that fall in between, can correctly be called a "casino".

Now, does the average person think of a truck stop with five video poker machines when they hear the word "casino"? Probably not. Likely because an outing to a "casino" generally consists of things other than gambling such as the things that you listed... hotel, buffet, and late night food, among other things.

So perhaps most people actually mean a "gaming entertainment and hospitality complex" when they say "casino", since the former implies ancillary offerings, whereas the latter merely implies gaming.

The Plaza may not have a 24/7 eatery, Binion's might not have a hotel, and the Linq may not have a buffet. But because each has an array of entertainment and hospitality offerings (e.g. showrooms, restaurants, spa, etc.), it's hard to see how such properties don't fit into the generally-accepted meaning of the word "casino".

There you go. Like one of my friends said about a time he was arguing with his wife when she said "Don't give any of that logic shit!"

I was at Jerrys Nugget yesterday. It was Senior day and I was a new player. It was GREAT! The .25 9/6 JOB were so slow that my Senior $10 comp took a long time to earn. I had the Monte Crisco. I haven't had one in decades. I came back around 10:30 PM for dinner and had the Porter house and cherry pie. I took home an éclair, fudge cake, and a roll with fruit and frosting that I can't spell but am about to eat. Unlike Downtown Dreamer, I had a bad run of luck, but between the slow JOB speed and a bunch of free play I only lost $100. The new member sign up has been well covered. The senior day adds 5 x points, a $5 MP, and a $10 comp after playing 550 points. They will also redeem ACG and LVA coupons at enrollment so almost everyone who is not me should be able to come out a winner.
    The staff are literally fantastic.
I took a bus there. Once late morning and once at night. I took a bus back to Freemont at 11:30 PM. I don't understand the safety concerns. I've been hassled by conmen and begging regularly at Samstown and El Cortez. Thieves work MSS snatching unattended tickets. I don't feel unsafe at those places, just occasionally annoyed. At Jerry's those annoying people don't seem to even make it through the door.
There are homeless people in the area, but Jerry's isn't a congregating point for them. If you walk, you'll share the sidewalk with them. If you take the bus, it shouldn't be a surprise that they take buses too. There is no homeless camp in the parking lot.
I am not sure about walking there. I would do it during the day if bus transport wasn't so easy. I wouldn't make the walk at night.

Whenever my bride and I are in town we try to always hit the following casinos; Tuscany (just because my wife is Italian), Ellis Island (I love the beers they produce and the off the menu steak special and the BBQ restaurant), Sam's Town (sitting at the bar in the atrium is beautiful), Longhorn (just because it's Longhorn-you have to see it to believe it), Sunset Station, Green Valley Ranch, South Point (quite possibly my favorite), Silverton, Suncoast, Red Rock and the casino that has always been my home The Orleans (although I'm considering divorcing it because of the B-Connected Rewards debacle).
