Long time downtown person staying on the strip for a work conference in June. My options that have a shuttle for the conference that fit my budget are TI and Mirage. I have a few questions that I hope the experienced strip go-ers can help me with!

    1. Does either have an in-room fridge for personal items?
    2. Which has the lower limits for table games?
    3. Best restaurants at both? Leaning towards TI with Gilley's
    4. Places in each with best values for drinks?

Will be staying for four nights then two comped nights downtown at the Cal. Any other advice appreciated.

Mirage doesn't have fridges beyond the mini-bar (well the tower resort didn't). Lower limit table games, TI would win out here. Mirage has lots of options for food but pricey even for strip standards. For what you've specified I'd go TI.

I’d say Mirage based on location and pool

TI room have small empty fridge Mirage have the mini bar that if you touch something you get billed.
Lower limits at TI, free parking at TI, some people can get the resort fees waived at TI as well

TI is stand alone so you will have to do all your play there if you want comps

Same, but TI often has lower limits and better values on eats and drinks.

I'd still stay at the Mirage considering that TI is but a tram ride away any time you want.

They sit side-by-side, so location? A wash. TI is relatively grim on food, but larger Vegas is all about food so no one will lock you in one joint and make you dine in-house, exclusively. Mirage has a higher-end vibe w/o being stuffy and as mentioned, the pool area is better if that's important. Gambling? It's the Strip, so the VP at lower denoms sucks. I like the TI corner rooms with the two walls of windows but ROH, Mirage are better finished.

I agree that location wise it's a wash. If you want a clean room, comfortable bed, lower table limits and easy to obtain comps from gaming, I would go with TI. I am partial to TI for these reasons plus, you can often opt out of resort fees (I always do), there is free parking so if you have a car there's that. Food options are more limited at TI but they are pricey at Mirage in my opinion YMMV.

All good stuff. TI was our home port for many years.

Pretty much already covered, but it really comes down to what you are looking for.

Location - As already mentioned, they're literally next door and connected by a tram. It's a wash, but if I had to pick one I'd go Mirage only because it's closer to the "mass" of the strip.

Rooms - Base rooms are probably about the same, but Mirage is a nicer overall property, and if you get out of the base room Mirage is nicer

Pool - Not even close, Mirage by a mile

Gambling - Mirage has a much nicer casino, TI is going to have lower limits, better gambling conditions, and will be easier to get comps

Food - Not even close. Mirage by a mile. TI likely has the worst lineup of restaurants on the entire strip outside of Excalibur (and that might be a tie). Not sure you can even play the cheaper angle. Certainly nearly everything there skews towards the cheaper/casual side, but there are still better comparable options at Mirage (LVB, Carnegie, Pantry, Still, Buffet, Pool Cafe, CPK etc.).

If you're looking to seed future offers, and gambling conditions are important (especially at lower limits) go TI. If you're just looking to enjoy a change of scenery and get a strip experience on the company's dime, go Mirage. Then again, maybe just stay at Mirage either way, and if you want to gamble and seed future offers take the tram next door for your gambling.

Haven’t been inside TI in a while but Mirage in my opinion is one of the most underrated casinos in Vegas. Beautiful in an old school way. Great restaurants. Awesome sports book. Busy poker room. Ton of tables and slots. I love Mirage and will get around to staying there at some point.

Now that the Tram is working again, you can easily visit both whichever one you stay at

And let's not overextend here on the proximity thing. Tram or not, it's a short walk.

Mirage is like motel 8 room, the room is ok but the bathroom is very small. It a tight fit for 2 people. I will never stay at the mirage again. The linq or harrahs is 10x better and cheaper.

Thanks Everyone! This is going to be a hard choice. I really do like that T.I. has a fridge and a not too expensive BBQ joint. I have to wait to book until the month of the conference so I will keep doing research. It's a goal of mine to stay in a iconic hotel that was built by Steve Wynn and both of these fit my bill.

You can eat there no matter where you stay. I would never base this decision on one particular basic restaurant, not when you can get there in minutes from any number of other properties, and notably your other choice which is right next door. Now the fridge, no parking fee, the ability to waive the resort fee, those might very well have tangible value for some outweighing staying at Mirage.

Is it just me or is Gilley's more or less just ok? If that

I have stayed at both and as far as rooms go, I liked the TI room much more than the Mirage. It just had a better feel to it for me.

As former "residents" of TI, the coming of Gilley's was a true sign of the apocalypse for that joint. Then they did all the other stupid shit to it. ;)

Ok and decent are good descriptions of Gilley's. If you're staying at TI it's a decent place to eat, but nothing worth going out of your way for (pretty much describes all TI dining). TI is our home base, but we seldom eat there. There are so many choices at Mirage, V/P, the Mall, all within easy walking distance, that we don't really care too much what's actually in the hotel. You mentioned "Iconic" and Steve Wynn. That's pretty much "The Mirage".
