You can probably blame this on the well-known and often-exploited "trick" of asking for a free fridge for your medication when you don't actually need it for medication...

$15 per daily use...unfreaking real...is that including electric??? Unreal, these casinos just trying to get every single freaking dollar out of you every chance they get.

Last time when I need refrigerator at MB I remember they just brought me one without charging ... but I did had room comped so I wonder if they just decide to comp that as well.. does MB charge for one?

Actually after going to Las Vegas for 30 years (38 trips) I haven't gone in 2 years.

Between Resort Fees, paid parking and 6/5 blackjack. I'm less inclined to fly cross country if that is whats waiting for me.

Plus I can play blackjack and bet sports locally (within 40- 75 minutes from my home there are 5 casinos). No real urgency to fly to Vegas like before. It's not Las Vegas but Las Vegas isn't Las Vegas anymore either.

I know the Paris is part of the corporate greed, but we just stayed there for 5 days, and fridge was in the room and it was FREE. Room was comped as well. Still don't know how that happened. LOL I know it wasn't from our gambling. haha...

Plaza downtown has fridges, I think, and they don't charge for them, at least as far as I know.

Charging for a fridge is just wrong.

Will be in vegas on Sunday.

I'm thinking of going to Japan in July, going up north to Hokkaido area to see the lavender farms and onsen's (spas). I figure to go to Japan this year because next year they will be hosting the Olympics so 2020 may be busy and expensive in Japan.

I don't really do the club scene in Japan. Too expensive just to get into the clubs and there is a big hustle for you to spend lots of money. There is a lot of hype with the girls but there is no guarantee you will get any action unless you spend thousands. The other clubs are for the kiddies (loud, bright, crowded, etc) and I avoid those places too. I go to some of the small bars for a drink. I do walk around those night club areas in Ikebukuro, I like to watch the glitz and glamour but I don't partake since I'm too cheap to spend a lot of money in the clubs. But many of these clubs mostly cater to local Japanese and many frown on foreigners.

Funny story, 6 years ago I stayed in a "love hotel" in Osaka, Japan. I didn't know what that really meant until I got there. No girls, if anything you have to go to one of those clubs and bring the girl back but basically the hotel was similar to a regular hotel except for some amenities. They have massage chairs in the hallways, it was great to get a 15 minute massage for $5 after a long day of sightseeing and walking. You can also rent a room by the hour but I guess business isn't that good so they rent the rooms for the night or week. And like the movies they do have some "theme" rooms so you can live your Fantasy with a girl you bring home.

I probably wouldn't do this for meds, but if you want to keep a quart of milk, etc cold, the ice bucket works well. Just change the ice once or twice a day, depending on if you can close the bucket. Last I checked, ice was still free, but that gravy train could end at any time.

Not to play the protagonist, but this was my first thought reading this thread. Since starting to read LVA forums years ago, this ranks #2 behind the $20 sandwich as most used casino/hotel tricks. I like having a fridge for numerous reasons, which is one reason I like MSS. I have paid elsewhere though and here's why. If I'm coming to a town where gambling is one of the major draws, I don't see $15 a day being a roadblock. If you're willing to risk who knows what in the casino, I wouldn't be concerned about $15/day. It's a bit like to going to an expensive restaurant and hedging on the tip.

    Good Luck!

The refrigerator fee drove us away from Gold Coast to Suncoast in september.
I dont like the extra fees obviously but if people are using the medical reason to bypass it I hope they inspect the contents and crack down on it. Stuff like this that ends up hurting those that actually need things for medical reasons. Same goes for free airline carryon for medical devices. I take advantage of this for my cpap machine.

I have two 2 day reservations for next week and I called this morning to have them linked. I did receive an email asking if I wanted a fridge for $15 a day. I asked whether it was really a day or for the entire stay and she said it was for the entire stay, so I got me one again! :) Hope I don't get the same clunker I got in January.

    We found a work around.

Ordered a 50 Qt rolling cooler from Walmart for delivery to store. They will hold it 7 days and shipping usually takes 2 business days. In future, we will just order it several days before our arrival so it's already there when we arrive (had to wait until day 2 or pick up this time). I just put the meds in a plastic container and put that in a ziploc bag. Kept lots of water, soda and other adult beverages super cold. It wasn't nearly as much of a PITA as I thought it would be. Easy enough to drain water out of the cooler in the tub and then off to the ice machine for more. Total cost, about $32.

Yes, I know that $15 / day is peanuts. But we stay 9-10 nights. $150+tax is not insignificant to me.

She lied. It's per stay now. Unless they have changed the policy in the last 10 days.

So you drive, letsgotovegas? Or rent a car? Do you just leave the cooler when you go home?

It makes no difference to me. If I get there and they decide it's a daily fee, I just ask them to remove it and revert back to the wastepaper basket filled with ice.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I have stayed at the Gold Coast many times over the years, but I've recently noticed something interesting and quite annoying, especially because I have to pay this stupid resort fee. When I enter the GC my phone switches to the free wifi in the casino. It works well and I never get dropped. It's automatic. But, when I go up to my room, I'm suddenly asked to login to the room wifi with name and room number. Then, however, if I leave the phone idle for a few minutes and then go back to it, I have to login again, etc. ad nauseam. It's very frustrating. In other words, the free wifi open to anyone in the casino is far superior to the wifi I PAY FOR! Talk about not wanting me to stay in the room.

    We rent a car.

This time we left the cooler with the bellman for one of our favorite cocktail waitresses with a note.

For our next trip we will likely buy another and leave it with a local friend to hold for us. Our other option is to check it as luggage as we fly southwest with Free checked bags. It may exceed the dimensions though. I have to check on that. I didn’t have a tape measure with me and I didn’t feel like dealing with it anyway this time.

I hope it works out for you!

    Cheers

I emailed them and ask about the fridge and this was the response. I will definitely let you know what happens next week.

Sorry about the confusion. The refrigerators at Gold Coast are $15 per stay based on availability.

There are some nice collapsible coolers available, that I'm sure could be checked.

Wow, that's good news. Perhaps they backed off the PER DAY thing. That's good news. I'd take a copy of that email with me if I were you.

    Thanks for reporting back in.

    Cheers,

We stayed at the Gold Coast April 26-May 1. Asked about the fridge and were told it was $15 per STAY. And that's what we were charged.

I will let you know though that it costs $300 for a new sink if your husband is cleaning his bowling ball and it rolls off the edge of the sink and puts a hole through it!

Wow! We were there April 22 - May 1 and were told it was $15 per day as we did verify at check in. We hadn't picked up our cooler yet and could have cancelled. Maybe they backed off the change? I don't know.

Bummer about the accident with the bowling ball!
