I just saw an updated property map of the Rio, and it looks like they have made a LOT of changes to the casino floor, most notibly adding tables games to the Masquerade Village. Does anyone know how long ago these changes took place? Any pictures of the new setup???

It's been a about a year since i've been in there. Last time was July WSOP. It was in major need of updating so if they are doing renovations that's a good thing. I know others on this board had commented in a previous thread that they thought it was being sold as is. Hopefully, others know more.

We were there in Oct 2018 and again just this April and between those months they added many new slot machines to that area plus added some new ones all around the high limit area and near Shutter’s VP bar.

Vital Vegas reports that a sale is imminent, they are also saying that PH is up for sale. Carl Ichan recently upped his stake in Caesar's and is pushing for either a sale of the company as a whole or breaking it up and selling off individual properties.

I was there in April and the room I got the first night is one of the worst hotel rooms I've ever gotten anywhere, casino or otherwise. I was also taken aback by the casino environment motif being, for lack of a better word, 'trashy' ? With the cocktail waitresses doing simulated stripteases on random platforms around the casino and the table game section with the all 'goth' all female dealers, surrounding an elevated cage type structure with a scantily clad woman dancing for no reason (and Ima tell you those tables stayed full all night every night lol). I'm not necessarily opposed to all that but I feel like they advertise it as a classier place, claiming all their rooms are suites and whatnot.

All that said, apart from my first night being unbearable in a really gross room, and it being something completely different from what I expected, I actually liked the casino quite a bit. They have a decent selection of slots and some lower limit table games. I'd never set foot in there before but I've got Penn and Teller tickets in June and I plan to arrive early and possibly stay late to play in the casino a while when I head over there for the show.

Anyway, more to your point, I took some pictures of the masquerade area so here ya go. These were taken 4/8/2019 WP_20190408_07_38_47_Pro.jpg WP_20190408_07_38_41_Pro.jpg WP_20190408_07_38_33_Pro.jpg

I always thought the exterior was just plain ugly. and then along game Gary Loveman and it only went downhill form there. the place has suffered from deferred maintenance for many years.
I would love to see a sale and a total makeover.

It was black and white opposites when I was there a few weeks ago; all common areas were spotless, clean, and in very good shape. In my first room, every single piece of wood furniture had significantly damaged finish, all the glass surface tops were missing but the glass coffee table top, and all upholstered furniture had stains all over. Second room was a big improvement but still had chunks missing out of wood furniture and random squares of peeling wallpaper covering up god knows what.

I chatted with some locals and they said the local scuttlebutt is that the property is on the very short list for destroying and building a major league baseball stadium if Vegas can get the team they are currently trying hard to get. That would make it a stones throw down Dean Martin Drive from the new Raiders stadium and it's a perfect sized property and location, so I wonder if that potentially has anything to do with it.

Looks like you just wrote the reason why they have a scantily clad woman dancing on an elevated cage type structure :D Also, they didn't lie - all their rooms are suites -ish.

There weren't any in that area. The property map I see on their web site right now matches what I saw, with all the table games located in the Ipanema court area. The high limit tables, Indian restaurant, and Shutters bar are marked purple and labeled masquerade village on the map, but are shown in the correct location physically, by the pool entrance, past the rewards center and high limit slot room going back toward the entrance from masquerade. Not sure what you saw or what it looked like before because I'd never been before, but it looks like the online map is correct, but they got very liberal with the term 'masquerade village'

Your pictures make me miss the place. This used to be my home base; until I started staying at a new and different place each time I go (once a year). I may have to stay again for sentimental reasons.

Rio's downfall began with Harrah's bought it. It used to be a great property with the Rio theme throughout, the oversized rooms ("suites") and nice vibe. The Voodoo Lounge was a super hangout for a great rooftop view, music and drinks - I had plenty of those What The Witch Doctor Ordered! I bid them adieu a long time ago and haven't looked back. A shame.

When I opened up the Caesars Rewards app the other day, it alerted me to an updated Rio Property Map, which I decided to check out. That is when I noticed the modified layout of the casino. I just tried going back onto the app now, and I can't seem to find where the property maps are!!! Maybe it was just a fluke!!! The Rio is my main hotel, and I usually try to stay in the Ipanema Tower due to it being near all the table games. I thought it they finally put some of the table games in the Masquerade Village, I would consider staying in the Masquerade Tower again.

Anybody else happen to see this updated property map???? If I can find it again, I will post a screen shot here.

OK, I found the property map!!!!!!

Here, in the Masquerade Village, you can see there are what looks to be 4 craps tables along with a whole pit of table games just outside The Wall Bar (where McFadden's used to be):
    upload_2019-4-26_12-58-14.png
This used to be nothing but slot machines and VP.

Here, there is another table pit just outside of the Crown Theater:
    upload_2019-4-26_13-1-38.png
This area used to be all slot machines.

And then in the pit nearest the Cashier, they seemed to have moved it around to have a bunch of craps tables all together. This is where the carnival games used to be (LIR, MS, 3CP, etc.):

So, the big question is.......has the casio floor actually been changed to match the above property map, or is this something they are planning in the near future?????

I stayed in a Masquerade Suite at the Rio for a couple weeks during my first trip in 2006.

Great memories, and the property was really lively then. Few good nights at the Voodoo, and plenty of fun drinking at the Shutters Bar, too.

Only been up there to play poker over the last 5/6 years, and it just seems tired.

It really is a great place to stay!!!! Nice mix of locals and tourists in the casino, great dealers and pit bosses, and the drink service is usually very good. And of course the larger rooms are nice as well!

No idea what they're planning, but definite no on it matching that map when I was there this month. A pretty large area kind of directly in front of the stage was conspicuously empty with just like 2 or 3 cocktail tables sitting there, Plenty of room for a group of table games if they wanted and arent saving that as standing room if they ever do something on that stage. Slots were lined up outside the Wall where your picture has tables. The one thing that vaguely resembles your pics is they did have several craps tables together in sort of a rectangle in the general area of your last pic. Don't know if it was exactly like that but it definitely resembled it, and again I never been there before so I have no basis of comparison. Most, if not all, of the craps tables I saw were in that area all together.
