$2000 budget... better for comps to spend all in one day?

Theoretically speaking regarding comps, if you had 3 days in Vegas with a $2,100 budget, would you be better off gambling $700/day...or sightseeing for two days and using all the $2,100 budget in one day? Let's say in this example we are staying at one property. Thoughts?

If you're only going for 3 days, do what you want to enjoy your trip. I wouldn't suggest chasing future room offers that may or may not come.

That said... the $2,100 in 1 day would be the route to go to boost your ADT if your sole purpose is chasing comps.

60 trips to Vegas, and you're potentially playing with the idea of risking your entire budget on one day? If you lost, those would be a miserable last two days.

This was just a hypothetical question. I mainly play tournament poker when I'm in Vegas and rarely play slots or even table games. Was just curious if I had a $2k to blow, if it would make more sense to spread it out over the three days, or just dump it all on my last day.

Depends on the casino. I believe mLife is trip based where Caesars Rewards is by the day.

    Ok, hypothetically speaking...

It sounds like you could be happy having a fool around with slots day, and and play poker the rest of the time ( with a different bankroll hopefully). If i was you, I would throw it at a new-to-you casino that you think you’ll like staying at ( after you get a players card) and see what they offer you. And I’d stay somewhere else, someplace that already knows my cheapie habits and has forgiven me. Id play it all in one day, IF I was just fishing for offers. But thats me.

Good luck, hope you rob them blind!

The answer is not so simple. Some answers may seem simple, but they can easily be WRONG due to lack of parameters.

    Different casinos measure days differently.
Also, if you are "in house" for all three days, it would not matter anyways. Each day gets worked into the average - for some casinos.
Would also depend on your past play - what level of comps are you getting now?

I normally come once a year to play WSOP and won't play anything else. Last November, I came down with a cousin for fun. Played some slots at NYNY and PH. I didn't think I played enough for a comp donut, but they sent me an offer last month for 3 nights at Excalibur which I've decided to use for WSOP in June. I normally stay at MGM properties when I come for WSOP, so I would think they know I don't give them a lot of action?? Again, I rarely play anything aside from poker in Vegas, but my last trip in Nov changed my thoughts on slots and found them quite enjoyable. I figured when I do come next time, what would be the best way to use my "slot bankroll"? Since I am not that big on slots, I have no problem not playing it until the very last day (assuming I have a good run at the poker tables ;) But from the answers above...looks like different properties rate differently, which I kinda figured.

I say play it all in one day and hope that they don't average it over 3 days. even if they do, you have not lost anything and you have the chance at having one BIG day if they choose to look at it the other way.
    Yeah that's the ticket.

    If I'm reading you right:

You're staying at Excal for 3 nights on a comp offer during WSOP.
Your normal schedule is one trip a year
You usually stay at MGM properties
    You have $2,000 to blow

I would just play it all at MGM properties, doesn't matter whether you play it all in one night or spread it over the three nights you're staying, but don't spread it beyond that. Doesn't sound like you're too picky; I'd just do it all at Excal for convenience and the low table limits if you wanna play tables.

At the very least, it should result in you getting offers that will keep renewing long enough for you to stay for free again next year for 3 or 4 nights, and at a better MGM property. You might fall just short of Aria and Bellagio, but you might squeak in there.

Also, if you end up playing all (or mostly) slots, you should generate enough theo to get some back-end comps at Excal at the end of your stay, maybe at least get resort fees comped if you're paying them. You should be able to generate around $300 in comp value, and rooms at Excal (I think) are way less than $100/night.

$2,000 bankroll should get you at least $10,000+ coin-in on slots, at least $1,000 in theo, at least $250 - $300 in comp value (some of which has to cover your room comp for the 3 nights).

Who said he would lose it all on the FIRST day? He could save it for the last day.. not to mention plenty of people enjoy vegas without gambling at all

If you play a few hundred at CET - you will have free rooms for your next trip. If you play the $2k, you might even get some nice offers - suite or food or FPlay.

And the same for many other NON-MGM properties.

Keep in mind many places use daily ADT - so keep it to less days.

The above ideas assume you are not staying in those other hotels, or using your card for anything else.

Yes, it would probably be my last day after all is said and done with poker.

@Chuck2009x thanks for the response. I'll stick with MGM as I plan to bring the family out in a couple years. Hopefully to Resorts World with their indoor water park when the kids will be 4 and 8 (will do Grand Canyon to). Otherwise MB for their pool.

Interesting. Does anyone have info on this - if I check into Ballys and do not play until the next day, does my check-in day count as a zero dollar play day against me?

Yes, your check-in night would count as a zero play. it doesn't really matter though as long as you end up playing your normal total amount over the entire stay. The "A" in ADT stands for average.

Great thread Mista! One caution on your quote, "in a couple years".

In my experience, and what I've read on VMB time and time again, offers based on play DO have a shelf life on upfront offers/corporate offers... they can start whittling off after a year or so.

Doesn't mean you can't call, and see if they give you something on past play, but on Corp offers, they can definitely have a shelf life and then you stop seeing them...

On your question, I tend to keep my daily averages similar (MLIFE and Cosmo), and it's worked well, but I just like that method.

Whatever you do, have a blast!

The answer is actually quite simple in that it really doesn't matter. What matters most is your ability to cycle the money. You could get very lucky and put 100 in the machine, win a huge jackpot and cycle 100k through the machines and go home with money.

The things to know are whether your property is Daily Theoretical or Trip Theoretical. If it's trip theoretical it doesn't matter when you play, so don't stress and enjoy. If it's a daily property and you are staying there, you want to play as close to the same every day you are staying simply because a no play day will impact your average. That being said in 3 days of stay 1 10k coin in day is still worth the same average-wise as 3 3,333K coin in days.

Here is something I would consider. Use this comp at Excalibur, but, if you're okay having just one big play day. Do it at a totally different company. Maybe break your budget up to give yourself like 1500 for 1 day and then 300 each of the other 2 days to just mess around at excalibur.

Take the 1500 on 1 day and hit up either CET or Tropicana. Play that for as long as you can until it's gone, or you've had enough. Then don't play anything at that property the rest of your trip.

    What is a "daily property"?

If you are staying at a place the denominator of your ADT is locked in.

Why would any place care how you spread your play across the nights you're staying there?
