Has anyone tried going to the Bconnected desk and asking for meal comps since all the changes took place? Back then, I was able to get about $30 in food comps for about 5K coin-in per 24 hour period at the Cal or MSS, when I asked.

I will have an answer to this question in another 2 weeks. Previous to the Bconnected changes I would get a $50 comp to Redwood. I'm interested to see what I can get this trip.

Stil, works but a host has to do beyond the buffet level. At least I have observed such. Good luck. And be polite.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I did ask recently but was told politely no. They did mention that I've earned Bconned points that I could use but I knew that. I wanted a comp to Redwood or at least the Noodle House.

My Bil asked and he got a $100 comp to Noodle House. He plays slots.

I play craps and was up currently about a thousand when I asked and got nothing. Not sure if that was the reason but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I don't know about the Bconnected desk, but whenever I feel like I have played enough to earn some food comps I get up from my VP machine and go buy in a blackjack. Only once in 5 years or so have I been told no. Politely albeit. Pit boss also then told me I need x coin in before he could do anything. This was after the changes, but the night before the pit boss had comped me several buffets.

The one time I asked at the Cal they told me they could only comp to the Cafe, but said "is $30 enough?". Plenty for me and the wife.

Will be out soon, and will likely ask a pit boss before the players club desk. Too degenerate to do otherwise.

I remember seeing it done in the pit too, the one time I asked they seemed willing but needed to know when it would be used. Couldn't plan to be up for breakfast at 4 am.
I also once remember throwing next to a drunken craps don't bettor that lost an entire rack of green while arguing with the pit boss about how to get a comp breakfast. (buffet was closed, they were trying to send him to 777) after getting felted I saw him walk by with a very expensive bag of takeout food.

(I believe if you consult the lost tablet of Bcon, that would be 2500 pts [at vp, more if slots] @ 60% food discount = $41, and they prob want you to use the points, but YMMV)

I too am a craps player and got nothing, us craps players need to ask the pit boss for any comps which is a shame with Boyd

Don't know, I usually ask the pit boss for comps at most of the downtown casinos I play at so not sure if this is just a Boyd thing (no comps at desk).

But usually after I finish playing craps I will ask for a comp. But this depends how much and how long I played, usually if I played for 45 minutes to an hour I would ask to try to get a comp. This is at MSS, Cal and Fremont. Lately they have been giving me comp meals. Usually a red chip crap player, $5 pass/$5 - 10 odds, playing the 6/8 and maybe 1 come bet with 1x - 2x odds.

Curious, do you do this when other players are sitting there as I have not see this but have heard this before? Wouldn't that interfere with the flow of the game? Also, how would the Blackjack pit boss know how much coin you had put in the slots. Guess I'm just confused on the whole process and would appreciate a little more detail. Thanks.

Honestly, I buy in, play some hands, generally whenever the boss returns my card. I just ask "can I get a buffet?". Simple as that. Doesn't slow down the dealer, have done it with full tables and empty tables. I've even coerced players at the table to ask; it costs nothing to ask. I assume the pit boss checks my card and it tells them coin on/theo/whatever algorithm and they base their decision off that.

Only place downtown I can't ever seem to get a comped meal is plaza, but they don't really have many property owned eateries. I stopped asking after awhile.

Just ask. They say no, big deal. Find another property.

I still can get comped meals at the players club, but not always. Buffets are close to 100%. $5000 coin in usually gets a brewpub or noodle house comp. More than that, especially if I am losing gets a Redwood comp. Sometimes their computer tells the host that I am being over-comped, and they either downgrade or refuse the comp entirely.

    Learned something here.

Being a .25-.50 VP, some low limit slots and red chip player, if I even play at the tables, I figured I'd never be given a comp, but sounds like I should ask more often. I only asked once at The Cal BConn desk (pre BConnected changes) and was told no.

On the crap table, when I finish my session I usually step to the side and ask the pit boss if I played enough to get a comped meal.

Pit boss will probably check the computer to see your play and either give you a comp or he/she will come back and tell you that your play doesn't warrant a comped meal. But some of this is up to the pit boss so some times the pit boss will feel sorry for me and give throw me a comp meal. My last play in January the pit boss at MSS gave me a comped seafood buffet but told me my play wasn't really up to comped standards but he hoped that I would put in more play in the future.

We usually ask the pit boss near the end of a session......have we played enough for a comp to XXX? The usual answer is ..... let me check. I’d say we are about 90% successful. This is after a few hours of red chip+ play. The worst they can say is no. You don’t get if you don’t ask.

Really good to know. I'm a 90% VP player, and I was expecting the comps to get much more stingy after all the changes to Bconned. Now, it sounds like it has more or less stayed the same. Hopefully.

In all honesty, everything has pretty much stayed the same EXCEPT moving from level to level. Ruby to sapphire is pretty easy considering the carry-over points applied in January. Emerald is another issue all together as the amount of coin in required is way over my desire (on vp).

At the Gold Coast I have asked for buffet comps from Pitt Boss hen I feel like I have had enough time in. He some how phoned it in, when I got there everything was A ok on their system. I am unsure f he phone Buffet its self or BConnected. This is pre system changes.

This is for Boyd downtown casinos. Previously the pit boss would go into the computer and print a meal voucher and you would take the voucher to the restaurant.

But starting from last year they changed it. The pit boss now enters the comp voucher into the computer and sends it to the restaurant or buffet of choice (as long as it's in that particular casino). The voucher gets printed out on a printer located in the restaurant or buffet (by the cashier). Then you just need to go to the restaurant and they will grab your voucher for your free meal.

Not sure how it would work if you want the comp to go to a Boyd restaurant in another Boyd casino, best to check with them how to do it and if it is even possible to do.

Now, to go from Ruby to Sapphire, it may not be easy if you just play craps. Unless you are a green chip player. Red chip players would need to do a lot of gambling to get to Sapphire JMHO. Playing the machines it may be easer to get to Sapphire but you still will have to do some playing. When I was in vegas in January (6 nights), I only got to 300 points (this is with 80 rollover points I got from the changeover), need to get to 750 points to reach Sapphire so I probably won't make Sapphire next year.

Typically, I'll speak to a host at the end of my trip. If I was to ask at the BConnected desk for lets say a few buffets over the duration of my stay. Would this just come off the amount they comp back end?

I guess my really question is.. does it matter? is it a scenario where I get comped up front for the buffets if I ask, or pay for those same buffets and have them comped at the back end?
