I was looking on the RCI (timeshare trading company) website (going in through Hilton Grand Vacations Club) and I saw availability for "TLC Resorts at the Plaza Resort & Casino" Las Vegas.

I was unaware that the Plaza had converted some of the hotel to timeshare...only "hotel room" was shown as available but the pictures show full suites with living room & kitchen as part of this TLC Resorts...

Curtis & Gary, what can you tell me about this?

    GeorgeJ,

I sent you a DM to further the discussion about your Las Vegas plans.

The RCI website and video shows some of our Suites that are available for rent at the Plaza. The video itself shows a variety of our room options and amenities which are not included in all of our rooms. We will be having a new video soon featuring our new Luxe Rooms and more remodeling that has been done around property like our casino carpet, additional restaurants like Brightside etc.

We have done so many upgrades in the past 12 months, sometimes its hard to keep up :)

    -Gary

Ok, I'm a tad confused - does this mean that the newly refurbished Luxe rooms are part of a time share portfolio?

Hard to tell until we hear more from Gary.... He said that the photos of suites should not be on the RCI website...but I'm not sure what room types RCI is trading people from the Plaza...TLC Resorts either bought specific rooms from the Plaza and is trading those, or the Plaza is giving excess inventory to RCI and they are trading those rooms as timeshare..
Hilton Grand Vacations Club a number of years ago bought several floors at the Trump Hotel in Vegas and converted them into timeshare. There are absolutely no signs at Trump that say "HGVC" anywhere so you would not know if you went inside Trump that part of it is a Hilton timeshare.

Well, this would make complete sense as they have that "room" where they finagle people to sit through that horrendous sales pitch and of course we've all been dry-humped by the sales people that stand at the entrance. Eeee Gads. I don't like the sound of that. Sounds so damn shady, imo. I know, business is business, but time shares skeez me out.

Never happened to me in six stays at the Plaza, or countless visits.

I think that being young and almost always solo, I'm not really their "target" demographic. But I haven't even detected timeshare salespeople at the entrance of the Plaza, let alone been approached by one.

@PlazaPoker if I'm reading your post correctly, are you saying that some of the suites at Plaza can be rented out through TLC? Hope you've been well by the way :)

Timeshare pimps usually don't bother people when they are alone. When they see a couple they will pounce on them (they need both husband & wife to go to the presentation).

Hubby and I just got back from 10 days at the Plaza and never once were bothered by the time-share folks. Maybe they’re more subtle now?

    HI,
Just to clarify, suites are not offered for timeshare business/portfolio. If a timeshare guest wishes to upgrade to a suite they will pay the normal "upgrade" daily price as with any other standard reservation upon checkin and based on availability. This standard will be enforced with our new Luxe rooms as well. I hope this helps. :)

Curt, could you clarify what the timeshare is at the Plaza? Did "TLC Resorts" buy rooms at the Plaza and turn them into timeshare and selling them as timeshares? Or is the Plaza turning over excess inventory to RCI as "timeshares"? As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Hilton Grand Vacations bought a number of floors at Trump Hotel in Vegas and turned them into HGVC timeshares and then sold the weeks. Is this what happened at the Plaza (by TLC Reosrts) ?

We lease space to a timeshare company on the casino and as part of that they utilize hotel rooms to bring the customers to vegas. The plaza has no timeshares in the hotel at all and this relationship has nothing to do with the luxe rooms and they won’t have access to them. If TlC our timeshare partner has advertised on rci for new business then it is through them and they are doing that themselves as the Plaza has no direct relationship with rci but again this won’t be as timeshare. We have reached out to TLC to change any confusing language regarding this.

Thanks for the info, Curt. So that answers that - there is no timeshare at the Plaza that is being sold. But "TLC Resorts" buys excess inventory from The Plaza and uses that. So PrincessaMyron, you apparently just didn't see the timeshare sellers on the floor at the Plaza if they rent space to TLC...

A very polite and very firm "no thank you" works wonders. An ambiguous"not now" or "maybe later" is the kiss of death.

Sounds basically like the opposite of Hotwire or Priceline... instead of marking down the excess room inventory they buy, they mark it up :haha:

Honestly, never have I ever had the experience where I politely and firmly said no and they walked away. I guess you are living a charmed life my friend! lol! I always start off polite and end up bitchy...always have to get to bitchy for them to walk away - same with the cosmetic hawkers.

wife loves the cosmetic free giveaways says they really work. Just take one say thanks and keep walking!!!! As for timeshares just say no and again keep walking, never felt pressured by timeshare folks after that response....as for the cosmetic peeps, well they try to get us to stop but just keep walking.

You could also try pulling out your Amway/Avon/Tupperware/passion products/Herbalife catalog and start hustling them as they are hustling you. Who will back down first?
