    My Trip Report

Hello all from sunny (I kid you not!) Scotland.

In two days we (me and my wife “AC”) will be departing for our third trip to Vegas.

Our first trip was in Oct 2015 and we stayed at NYNY, second trip was May 2018 at the Cosmo, and this time we are staying at the Aria.

I will try and keep this as live as possible.

We are leaving Scotland at 11:45am on Tuesday, flying through London Heathrow. I have booked into the lounge (we each get 5 free visits per year through our bank which is nice) as we have a 3-4 hour layover. All going to plan we should land in Vegas around 7pm Tuesday evening.

    Rough itinerary includes:
    1. Ellis Island BBQ
    2. Tao for dinner
    3. Cirque du Soleil “O” at Bellagio
    4. Penn & Teller at the Rio
    5. Dinner at Hell’s Kitchen
    6. Aria buffet 2-4-1 via MyVEGAS
    7. $50 drinks credit at NYNY via MyVEGAS
    8. Sunday brunch at Lago (Bellagio)

In between that there will be a lot of pool time, video poker, blackjack, and happy hours. I am also planning to trying some slots this trip.

    Two days and counting :woohoo:

First potential blip of the trip, on Friday I realised my ESTA (VISA) had expired since I got a new passport so I texted my wife’s friend and asked her to go to our house and send me a photo of my passport so I could apply for the ESTA ASAP (I was at work). I kid you not, she sent me a photo of the front cover of my passport  anyway, got that resolved and surprisingly my ESTA was approved within a few hours!

We don’t depart until late on the Tuesday evening (9pm) so I’ve just booked a comp room at the Luxor for the night so we don’t need to worry about hanging around all day.

    Thanks!

We went last year and loved it so this will be our second trip and we hope it doesn’t disappoint. The bloody Mary’s were top notch!

This is a good move, in my opinion. I understand the debate on whether to book a room or not for that extra day when you are flying late or on a red-eye. In your case, you are looking at some serious travel time back to Scotland. I would think that having a place to freshen up before your flights will be totally worth it.

    Good luck!

    Have a great trip!
My family and I are packing for our Tues. & Wed. arrivals.
I'll be wearing my VMB wristband and magic cargo shorts.
Perhaps we'll see you there! :D

This is going to be a looooong work day. Still it’s not often you get to say a Monday is effectively a Friday! And I’m doing it from the comfort of my house. Why are there always crazy deadlines the day before you go on holiday?! It was the exact same when I went to Vegas last year.

Thanks Spicole, that’s exactly my thought on the matter. If I’ve got comps I may as well use them given how far we’re travelling.

We are all packed and ready to go! Hitting the road in just over 12 hours.

Met my deadlines and my client responded: “have a great time in Vegas!” :D

I think our cat knows we are abandoning him for a week.

I totally get that! I told my client all last week, remember to get stuff to me by Friday so I'm not rushing. What happens? I get an email today, can you please make time to get this ready before you go. Gah! Good thing I need the billable hours!

Have a great trip! Maybe I'll see you there!

Absolutely, I need to keep my chargeable hours up!

I’ll be at the Cosmo for sure, VP at the Chandelier Bar is on the cards (pun intended).

We have checked in! That was probably the most efficient airport check-in I have ever encountered. From our house, which is 25 miles from the airport, to the airport bar in one hour flat! Just having some breakfast and an obligatory drink (10am UK time).

Breakfast was nice but £27 for two drinks and two breakfasts is steep!

Decided to use one of our lounge passes here at Edinburgh. I’m trying a St Andrews Crail Ale.

Hope you have a fun and winning trip. I so admire the commitment of those that have to fly over oceans to visit Vegas but I completely understand. I have to do coast to coast with a layover and sometimes wonder if it’s worth the trouble. The answer seems to depend on if I lose my entire bankroll.

It is uncanny how last minute deadlines come up before every single trip. I feel it is God’s way of making you truly appreciate leaving town. I’m always in a panic and don’t feel relief until the first plane takes off. That is when I know nothing can stop me now. To me the best feeling is that first drink on the plane with the whole trip ahead and all the stress behind.

    Looking forward to your adventures!
