    My Trip Report

We began this trip with an early flight out of JFK, which meant a 3:00 am alarm! Only for Vegas or a good fishing trip would I get up that early. JetBlue even more space seats made the bumpy ride tolerable, but it’s a long flight.
We were picked up at the airport by Bell Limo in a sedan. First time using them and it was much nicer than a taxi! A treat for our 15th anniversary trip.
We checked in early at the Downtown Grand. This is our first time staying there and I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews about the noise level. I got a good rate on their city suite by booking ahead of time and pre-paying. The suite has a king bed, sofa, coffee table, chairs, wet bar with fridge and coffee maker, a full bathroom with double sinks, and a half bath off of the living room. There are floor to ceiling windows and the curtains do a good job of blocking out the light. Now, about that noise. We are facing away from Fremont street and on the 18th floor, but you can definitely hear the music....starting in the afternoon, till about 2:00 am! We were exhausted the first night so we did manage to sleep, but we have already requested to be moved to the quietest room they can find tomorrow. Will let you know how that goes!
Food so far: Lunch at LeThai -wonderful Penang curry, snack at Freedom Beat before bed - French toast, just ok. Today - Sterling Brunch. It was excellent. Lobster tails were great, as was the crab and shrimp. I was very impressed by the bread pudding as well. And Hugo did a great job of filling the glasses with champagne.
Blackjack - lots of double deck $5 at Main St. station and California. Doubled my money during the last session. I continue to chase the elusive royal flush at the Boar’s Head bar. More to come tomorrow....

Here's hoping you catch that royal at the BHB.

As it turns out, the noise at night was only a problem on Saturday night so we did not change rooms. We did a LVA coupon run today at all the downtown casinos. Won some, lost some, had lots of fun. Played craps at the Plaza and made a few dollars.
Breakfast at Main St. station with coupon, $10.81 for two. Dinner was wonderful tonight. We went to Delmonico at the Venetian. Husband had a large ribeye and a bone-in bacon appetizer. I love their barbecue shrimp. No room left for banana cream pie. More tomorrow.....
