Well, it's still 36 hours before I officially start, but it's been a year since I've packed for a 10 day trip to Asia.

Those of you who follow my TRs know how "anal retentive" I am about some things, and I would ask that you bear with me or skip through those parts.

Because I will be spending so much time in the air, I picked up a new tablet so I can get caught up on movies/TV series. I picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7". I got it from a game redemption center, so no direct cash outlay was required (a long story which I'll tell another day). It has 32GB of internal memory and I added a 128GB microSD. The funny thing is that I do all of my TR on a Surface Pro 4 tablet, so this is specifically for movies.
    upload_2019-4-14_6-16-19.png

The tablet has a battery capacity of 16 hours (supposedly) but I thought it necessary that I didn't have (for a 15 hour flight) a portable battery pack, since the one that I had was only 3600 mAh (milli Amp Hours), So, I went down to Fry's and purchased a 20000 mAh battery and charged it up. This battery has one "in" port, and two "out" ports, on 2.4A and one 1.1A, so two devices can be charged at the same time.

To put it in perspective, the tablet's battery has a capacity of 5870 mAh. An independent tester found that running video at High brightness, the Tab S2 9.7" decreased in power capacity by about 16% that works out to approximately a 9 hour life running strictly videos. A 20000 mAh battery should make it the first day, since I will have about 20 hours flying time. The 20000 mAh battery, for those of you keeping score, was a little more than $30.
    upload_2019-4-14_6-17-18.png

OK, so video requirements taken care of, I also have Game of Thrones Season 7, a bunch of movies that I haven't seen, between that and whatever American Airlines is offering, I should be OK.

Sunday before I leave, and still lots of things around the house. My ex-wife is coming down to be with my son and watch things.

I mentioned in another post that this was going to be "womanizing, gambling, eating, and sightseeing", well, not necessarily in that order. Purposes of this visit include:

1)G2 on Resorts World Genting (is it worth coming back to in November/December)
2)If gambling conditions allow it, making Silver level at Resorts World Genting (RWG) and examining (first hand) the additional perks. The "cost" of making that level is equivalent of doing a CET 500TC day ($2500 coin in on slots)
3)Eating local food, including (but not limited to) Nasi Lemak
Nasi lemak is a Malay fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf.
4)Explore the new Casinos in Macau. I have not been to Macau since they opened "western Style" casinos.
5)As far as cuisine goes, I plan to eat at least one casino buffet, one high(er) end restaurant, and rest will be "at will". Primarily Asian food, and, like all of my TR, lots of pictures of food.
6)Document what this solo vacation cost me, along with the mistakes that I made.

Kuala Lumpur is about an hour away from RWG by local transit, so I may skip KL unless I run out of things to do at RWG. Likewise with Hong Kong and Macau, respectively. There is a temple in Genting Highlands, Chin Swee Caves temple

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chin_Swee_Caves_Temple

So that might be my cultural stop for this trip

    Other planned activities include:

    VR at RWG (The Void)
Checking out the Amusement Parks and shopping malls at RWG
Buying 2 pair of pants at Giordano in the Resorts world mall (why Giordano? because they tailor to fit at no additional charge and have them ready in 24 hours)
Coffee with the former GM of Harrahs Reno and his wife Macau

Note, since this is a PG-13 board, reports on "womanizing" or other "hom sup" activities will be kept to a minimum.

For those of you still following along, welcome. More tomorrow before my flights.

Speaking of Cotai Macau, Here is a list of the Western style casinos there

    TG - Table Games
    GM - Gaming Machines

Now, a note here, I don't know whether the stadium machines (which are popular in Macau) are counted as table games or gaming machines.

The largest casino in the world is in Macau.
The Venetian Macao is 10,500,000 square feet and is also the largest single structure hotel building in Asia.

By comparison, Las Vegas Venetian (only) has 170 table and poker games and 1,204 gaming machines.

    Venetian Casino Resort
    TG 800 GM 3400

Grand Lisboa Palace - I wonder if they have a "racetrack" like the original Lisboa had
    TG 700 GM 1000

    Galaxy Macau
    TG 650 GM 1500

    Sands Cotai Central
    TG 460 GM 2200

    Parisian Macao
    TG 400 GM 2500

    City of Dreams
    TG 378 GM 1500

    Wynn Palace
    TG 350 GM 1145

    Studio City Casino Macau
    TG 200 GM 1500

    MGM Casino Cotai
    TG 175 GM 1500

    Plaza Casino at Four Seasons
    TG 140 GM 180

    Broadway Macau
    TG 40 GM 150

    Macau Jockey Club
    TG 35 GM 100

I have not mapped the layout of the casinos in Cotai. I am told that there is an extensive bus system so transportation shoulkdn't be too much of an issue.

I'm really looking forward to your trip, especially details on Macau. Pics, pics, pictures!

    For "local" food, I recommend...
Roti Canai - an Indian-influenced light flatbread dish. It's great for breakfast! It's usually served with dal or other curries for dipping.
Nasi Goreng - Indonesian style fried rice, usually with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) and an egg. It is usually darker and sweeter than other types of fried rice.
Beef Rendang - richly spiced beef dish with coconut milk that is cooked for a long enough time that most of liquid evaporates. Yum!

(... but you probably know all of that already! :poke:)

    Booooo!

    Good luck and safe travels!!!!

@spicole - thank you for the restaurant hints. That's why at least 1 buffet at each location. I should be able to knock out each of your suggestions at the Resorts World buffet.

I'm really looking forward to the trip report! I'm assuming you should find some good roti canai and nasi goreng on the cheap. I'm also sure there are different levels of rendang depending on the quality of the kitchen.

A quick update. Writing this from the food court of terminal 2 of HKIA Hong Kong International Airport).

A "brutal" 15 hour flight, but I learned a lot of things. Things that weren't in effect on my last flight through HKIA.

I have chosen not to spend time in the lounge in either terminal 1 or terminal 2. I did spend time in the Centurion Lounge at SFO.

Had a bowl of Pei Don Sau Yook kook and dried shrimp fun for $43 HKD, about $5.50 USD. Good and filling. Should be enough to hold me over until the airline meal on the plane.

Didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time on the plane, but I should be plenty tired by the time I get to RE Genting.

    More later.

Please report the table minimums at Macau too, especially for baccarat and blackjack.

Do they have craps at Macau? If so, I love to know about the table minimum and the odds that they offer.

Good luck dailun, one you shake off the jetlag, I hope you have a blast
