How To- Getting a Host

I figured I would share my experience with how I ended up with a host. I will also say that my host consistently exceeds my offers and books rooms that are sometimes inaccessible to me. He has also booked extra rooms for friends or family at better that average rates or comped them too. While it would be very nice for Caesars to say that I can have 3 nights on any weekend and 400-500 Resort Credit up front, that's not an offer that I have ever gotten, but my host does that back end most trips.

This experience is specific to Atlantic City, but as he explained to my cousin, applies to most Caesars Properties in the US.

We had been pretty consistent CET players for a few year's using comp rooms and then call host on duty to handle anything they could on the back end. Beginning in November 2017 the host on duty started regularly covering everything we charged. In August 2018 we went to AC for a 3 night weekend trip and I paid $300 to upgrade to a senator suite as well. We played as we normally would, applying the tips from this board to earn TC bonuses. This was our 3rd trip in 2018 and using these tips I was fairly close to 15k Diamond. In the evening of our first full night while closing in on 1k TC I had a woman approach me, introduce herself as a host and let me know that if I needed anything I could reach out to her. Unfortunately I couldn't hear her name as it was so loud, but I thought it was cool that she came by and said hello.
At check-out, not knowing who I spoke with, I called the host on duty to check for back end comps before check out. Because I had such a big upgrade, we actually only charged about 100 dollars in things to our room and I paid out of pocket for a few meals (I was still new to this so I didn't know how hard to press). When he looked at the charges he apologized and said that they were not allowed to comp off any paid upgrades done at the front desk and that he wished I had charged more to the room because he could do about 300 dollars worth of charges. He even told me to go to the gift shop and buy some stuff to the room. I explained that I understood but was told at check-in that a host could in fact comp those charges off and even had the name of the desk agent. He told me they were mistaken and I said not to worry about it but to take care of the meal. About a half hour later he called me to say he had spoken with the desk agent who confirmed my side and that he was comping the upgrade, the meal, and all the resort fees for my trouble. He then asked if he could assign himself to me as my host. I said sure. Total play on that trip was a 500 TC day Friday night a 1k TC day Saturday a 1k TC day Sunday and a 500 TC day monday at check-out. On check in and check out days we do at least 4 or more hours of play and on whole days 10-12 hours is not abnormal.

When I got home he emailed me to actually introduce himself and give me all of his contact information. I explained in detail that the play we put in is our typical level of play and that he should not expect anything over that. I told him I understood if he didn't not want to keep me on as there was no real hope of me becoming a bigger player. I also told him that if my play doesn't warrant something to just tell me up front as I don't charge or do anything that I don't intend to pay for.

Since then we have had a great relationship including 3 more trips to Atlantic City with an invitation to their bingo and an extra for my wife, an invitation to their Superbowl party for up to four people (we only used 2), lots of free meals, an extra free room for family on one trip and free comedy club tickets. Outside of the bingo offer for me, none of those other items would be available to me without him.

He is also incredibly responsive (less than 24 hours on emails) and will handle CR bookings all over the country.

While we have held true to not gambling more, his effectiveness at as a host has caused us to take double the number of trips we would normally take.

He is a young guy trying to build a book there (maybe 30 years old) and he flat out said he would rather have a big book of mid rollers without crazy demands than a small book of big players who want the moon and the stars.

I would say if you put in at least that kind of play and time, before check out call the host on duty and if you are happy with them ask if they would be interested in coding themselves to you. worst they can say is not.

This was kind of a long way of saying, I think having a host is better than not having a host, but also that they are what you make of it. Be honest and have reasonable expectations for everything and I believe you will be happy either way.

 

I play manly CET and I just got an email and voicemail from a host last week. To get a host, you have to put in hours of play and lots of cash. That said, I agree with @Lmarl72936. I'm a low Diamond and get tons of comps already for free rooms every trip. At my level of play, I guess I have spent enough to get a host, but I don't really see the need to utilize one as I am comfortable already with what I get. Maybe I'm wrong, but to get more than I already get, I'd think the host would expect me to play more/spend more and I am not looking to change what I do to help increase the Casino revenue. I like the way I play and I get rewarded with marketing comps that I am ok with already.

For me, I think the benefit would be if I was a next level player, which I am not.

 

I guess my question would be, and I'm sure others have asked this, what are you trying to accomplish by getting a host?

I've had various ones assigned to me and like members above have experienced, they really do nothing for me more than I can do myself. I currently don't have one assigned but get up front comps based on my play and after my trips, I just check with the host on duty to see if I can get some back end comps and generally get something.

Other than some sort of perceived status, unless you play heavy slots and/or are betting multiple black-purple chips ar the tables, you'll likely not get a ton utility wise with a host. I think some people just want to say "I have a host", which I think is a bit ridiculous. For the High Roller or heavy slot player, there's utility to be sure, but to give you an idea- I play blackjack around $100 per hand for 6-7 hours a day and the hosts I've had assigned haven't done much of anything, this is at CET for what it's worth.

I think that as long as you play within your comfort zone, let the cards fall where they are (no pun intended). I would avoid playing heavier just to attract a host for presumed comps.

 

I hate you just a little bit less, but now gas is almost $5 per gallon.

 

Wow. $2.59 here but we've always had cheap gas here. New Jersey has it's great reputation from all of the oil refineries up north near NYC. That's what the world sees of New Jersey. I live in Southern NJ which is a lot of farms...thus our State nickname: The Garden State.

 

WTF, I need to get a host on duty at Caesar's AC. I gamble way more than that and don't get anything...likely because I don't ask, but still. Are you exclusively playing slots? I play a mix of both and still pay for my meals, losing about 1200 a day on average.

 

I know it sounds weird but losing 1200 in half an hour won't get you a host as much as losing 1200 a day in 4 hour sessions will. Length of play is important to them. This according to my now former host who dropped me for not enough action. I've resurfaced and played enough to get a host associated from "City wide Latin Marketing" and is an absolute joke and not worth having.

 

I play for like 8 hours to lose that 1200 lol. I earn 1,000 TCs a day minimum. I think it's because i don't ask or fly under their radar. I have any night comped at CET in AC. Even July 4th or New Years

 

@spdandpwr I definitely think you are leaving comps on the table by not asking. I only play tables once I have hit my 1k TC goal. I play a lot of video poker over slots. My coin-in on 1k TC is probably like $8,000 coin in on VP $1,000 coin in on slots. In a normal day I will usually hit like 1100 TC maybe a shade over. I know a lot has been said on here about not going far over the 1k unless you're doing 2500, but I think it may make it appear to my host that I don't only play to the bonus and quit. That also has the side benefit of being true. I play as long as I am having fun and within my daily budget. I have had many days where I start gambling at 7 am and gamble until 1-2 am pretty much non-stop except for meals and changing machines and restrooms. My host has flat out said to me that time is critical to them and that actual loss means very little until you get into much bigger numbers. As an aside, my host knows that I usually come with my wife and while she is not tied to the room for comp purposes, he is aware she is in the casino and gambles almost all tables for 8-10 hours a day. While her ADT is for sure low our last 3 day trip she earned 423 TC over 3 days at BJ and Pai Gow (10-15 dollar minimum)

Before the host I had the same as you with any night I wanted comped and the best non-suite rooms available at all AC properties. I get some random like 20$ fp offers and I get a free buffet every 2 weeks. Calling the host on duty will likely get you more so definitely start asking. If you are downstairs by the tables at caesars, the host station is to the right of the cage if you're looking at it. If no one is there, pick up the phone and you get the host. They will apply all RC first, though so if you have and don't want to burn them, don't call.

 

This is so helpful! I'll burn all my points in Vegas in May and then lean on the host to comp the rest -- if play warrants...which it sounds like it will

@spdandpwr we also don't take a complimentary suite upgrade which is regularly offered to have a little more room for meals.

 

Come to Vancouver, gas is approximately $6.25 a gallon in some areas here

 

Wow, that's worse than here. We're about $1.65 a litre
