Choosing the right VIP Hotel/Casino

Hi guys,

I am preparing a trip to Las Vegas with my wife, it will be her first trip, I've been many times.

We always gamble in Macau/Singapore/Monaco, but now we want to visit Vegas exclusively for the next 2 years (roughly 6-8 times for a week each).

We would wire each time about 30k$ to the Casino cage (flying in from overseas and cant bring over 10k$ pp).

So I am looking for the best Hotel/Casino to host us, we would like to stay in a nice Hotel, hopefully get comped on Rooms (maybe Suite), Shows and F&B.

Both of us gamble, 3-5 hours a day on 5$ slots and then a few hours on 100$ Baccarat table.

Wondering which Reward Program/Casino would give us most for our buck and at the same time quality of stay and experience?

Since we dont have any prior reward activity in Las Vegas, before we arrive I will link my Hyatt Globalist to status match to Mlife Platinum, and Marriott Platinum to Ceasars Seven Stars (through Wyndham). This would allow us to be on a heightened elite level before we even arrive, so we wont be a total newcomers for the reward programs.

 

With that bankroll and decent slot play (as you noted above) verses table play (where comps are much tighter I understand), I am pretty sure you'd be taken care of at Wynn/Encore and the quality of stay/experience/service I believe is the best in Las Vegas.

Having said that, you mentioned having been to Las Vegas many times. Based on what you have seen and experienced to date, do you have a preference?

 

You'll get more bang for your buck at a lower level hotel, but the higher end would probably be more enjoyable. Just depends on what kind of experience you are looking for.

I would probably suggest, in no particular order for high end:
Aria
Bellagio
Wynn/Encore
Cosmopolitan
Venetian/Palazzo
Caesars Palace

Next level down, but would most likely get higher end room and more likely comped with that kind of play:
Mirage
Mandalay Bay
Planet Hollywood
Paris
MGM Grand

It may not hurt to contact a host off some of their websites to see if they can offer anything up front. Since you don't have an existing relationship with them, they may not be able to do much on the front end, but may be able to check on you play out of country and see if they can do something for you.

 

My choice would be Bellagio, due to the fact that we always at Wynn Macau/Venetian Macau and want to experience something new.

Cosmopolitan and Vdara is out, because it does not have that old style Las Vegas style, kind of similar to Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Want a real Vegas experience hahaha

 

2nd option would be Caesars Palace

 

To add to what Shock said, if you played at Wynn Macau, that's an easy conversation between Macau/Vegas hosts.

And yes, we could do a status match at Wynn Macau-Vegas, but we just got back from a 5 day trip to Wynn Palace Macau...

 

For your level of play I would still recommend the Cosmopolitan. While I don't have any experience in your overseas stays, I can say without a doubt, that the room experience is special at Cosmo. The terrace is an experience like no other in town. They have an amazing plethora of suites that can suit just about any taste. The comp levels there, imo, are outstanding for the strip. The restaurants are solid. I love the casino and the high limit room has always been a nice oasis without being far from the action. Slot variety is also top-notch there.

 

I have stayed at Bellagio only once as I historically, for more than 25 years, have been a CET person until falling in love with Wynncore. I enjoyed my stay at Bellagio and the conservatory is a stop for me every trip though comments from VMBers who are MLife people will be more helpful.

You should be treated very well at Caesars. You'll want an Augustus Tower room that has a fountain view. The suites at the end of the hall facing the strip and the fountains are spectacular but even a regular room facing the fountains is very nice. And though I am a huge fan of the Encore Spa, the Qua spa I like a lot as well. The Caesars pool is also big and classic though I would recommended booking a cabana depending on when you may want to enjoy the pool as it can get extremely crowded and the lounge chairs are very close together. Caesars was my base for my 50th birthday celebration almost 5 years ago and the cabana rental, even though we just used it for a few hours, was 100% worth it.

 

30K bankroll 3 to 4 trips per year, you will have no problem getting this, if shows are really important you could use this as your main criteria cause the offerings between Ceasars and MGM property are pretty different while a great room and food is pretty much the same all over

 

First trip is a maybe on comps. Does not matter with what you are spending.

Next trip will be GREAT as far as comps.

Bellagio or Wynn would be my choice.

And, why can not wire more than $10K. Never heard of that.

 

I think the OP is actually wiring 30k. The 10k reference is the cash he is carrying (presumably because of laws about international travel with more than 10k)

 

I think there are some misconceptions here. You can absolutely travel with more than $10,000 USD cash when entering or leaving the US... you just have to declare it on the immigration forms.

In any case it appears to be moot since the OP is planning on wiring the money anyway.

 

Thanks. I didn't mean to suggest you're not allowed to bring more than 10k in or out of the country. I have seen other people post in the past that they don't want to do that because of the paperwork/hassle involved

 

If you're going for that old Vegas style, then you definitely need to pick Bellagio or CP. They aren't on my list of properties but they definitely evoke the Vegas of yore. Best of luck to you and your wife. MGM Grand (in their skylofts) may also be close to that (in terms of overall experience). I mean all the iconic boxing matches have been there

 

Grand Lakeview Suite at the Bellagio. Odd numbered floor so you can get a balcony.
It comes with Chairman's Lounge access and a limo. I have one booked for August.
You are coming a long way, and spending a lot of money in the casino, do it right!

 

Agree, its an awesome suite. Doubt the OP can get it comped, though, based on his front money. He didn't say being comped was a requirement, but it does appear to be his preference

 

True UKFanatic. However, if I was going to drop $30,000 in the casino, I'd want a nice suite to come back to. With that kind of play he should be able to get at least a chunk of it comped off the back end.

 

I would too. That's why they have the variously sized penthouse suites, which is more realistic for a 30k player
