Oh, I am a regular on here and in Las Vegas, but I think I have become too set in my ways to get this right without advice. In January, I will be in LV for 2 days with friends after a cruise. One of them has never been to Vegas (although she has come to AC with us and become thoroughly corrupted), one has been once but stayed in a Timeshare and didn't have fun because it was a PITA to get anywhere (& he lost his credit card and ATM but that's another story), and the other has been several times with me. Ages range from 40's to 60. They are primarily slot players with a little bit of vp and even low limit table games.

They have all of the CET properties comped. Since it's such a short trip I am most interested in being central and in a decent (doesn't have to be great) and clean room with convenient quick dining. The only place I won't stay is Harrah's. Since it's January, pool doesn't matter and I doubt we will have any interest in fine dining, especially right after a cruise. So, this will be mostly about atmosphere and easy access to the strip.

I will stay a couple nights after they leave at my usual spot to get my Vegas on, so this is all about them. What would you guys recommend?

Paris. Rooms are comfortable, location is good, lots of food options.

Ballys. Center strip, inexpensive gaming, not a crazy vibe, and it sounds like you can get it comped

Can't go wrong with either Bally's or Paris. For the atmosphere, Paris.

Ballys or Paris seems like the best option, location wise. We prefer Paris.

I'm on board. Paris or Bally's. Atmosphere is really nice at Paris but rooms were recently refurbished at Bally's. Either one would be my choice...though I stay at Bally's just so that I can get the view of the Eiffel Tower from my room (see my avatar).

I would have to agree with everyone else. I've stayed at Bally's and the rooms were nice, great location. I'm staying at Paris for the first time in a few days, but I do love that location. And if you can get a view of the Tower or the Fountains, even better.

I have heard that there may be noise issues at Paris if you have the Eifel view, because of the night club. But that may not be an issue in January!

I would have to agree with the general theme here. Bally’s or Paris, never stayed at Paris but several times at Bally’s. I think Bally’s is great . Nice clean rooms lots of quick bite choices and great location.

I agree, Bally's or Paris FTW! I usually stay at Bally's because it's comped, but most of the time i'm in Paris to gamble and just hang around the Casino listening to the bands etc. and outside Paris sitting on their park benches in between gambling losses....LOL.

Looks like I'm not as jaded as I thought because Bally's and Paris were at the top of my list. I can usually get a better room at Bally's, which might be nice if we want to have drinks in, but I expect they will all be wanting to spend all their time gambling since it's such a short trip, anyway. Are the base rooms at Paris decent now? Last time I stayed there it was pretty shabby.

I do have a king suite showing comp at the Linq, and even considered that as having a large sitting area with proximity to the Linq area might be fun. But it's hard to get rid of the old IP images that are burned into my brain.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!

    My vote would be Bally's.

In fact, I booked Bally's for our trip in 8 days, based on what the members here recommended. I'm glad I did. I got a comped room for 4 nights, in the new resort tower.

Bally's is a perfect location and I like the fact that their pool is on the quiet side. LOL Okay, we're kinda geezerly, well sort of. LOL

I have seen all ages in Bally's so I think everyone would be happy, just my opinion though. :)

I stayed in a Classic Room at Paris in December. Photos are in my last TR. The room was a bit shabby and they are on the lower floors now.

Front desk told me they are in the process of renovating all the rooms, but I would try for a Red Room at a minimum there. I've been happy with Red and Burgundy rooms. My Classic room was fine, but didn't have all the amenities I'm used to. (I missed that coffee maker in the morning. :( )

Here is the post with the Classic room photos - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?posts/1747787/

Great look at the rooms. I think they will be fine with those. Thank you!

And thank you even more for the pictures from Yong Kang! I have never even heard of it, and after a December trip to a dumpling house in San Francisco, I have been searching for decent dumplings. Here in NH they are nasty. I am going to try Yong Kang on my trip in 2 weeks as I will be at PH anyway. I am excited!

FWIW, Paris was definitely rehabing the bottom 4 floors facing the pool during my St. Patricks day stay. BR doors were leaned up against the windows and a sheet of paper taped to each window, probably some sort of punch list.

    Agree.

    Easy decision.

In the end, it really does not matter much.

Sounds like it should be easy.
