For years I get this reoccuring horrible pain that usually strikes in the middle of the night that starts right in the bone behind either of my ass cheeks and proceeds through my sack to each of my marbles and then out the opposing ass bone. It seems to occur every 30 to 45 days. It seems that if I get into a certain sleep position, this is what triggers it.

The pain is horrible. It's not a sharp pain but just an excruciating cramp like thing, about an 8 on the pain scale. I have learned that stretching helps to a certain degree, but standing up and taking 2 Extra Strength Tylenols will finally end it after 20 to 30 minutes.

My doctor put me through and entire course of x-rays and other exams and found that this was all in my head. I told him I must have one hell of an imagination, because the agony feels very real.

I went on Google University and have narrowed it down to an irritation to the Sciatic nerve. I am nervous about mentioning it to my new doc.

Anybody know what I'm talking about and possible relief?

No clue, but if it is sciatic nerve problem, long, daily walks on flat surfaces sure helped me. Well, it postponed for a few years my eventual three disk surgeries.

Radio Frequency Ablation may help. I had the nerves in my L4 and L5 zapped over 2 years ago.

Unfortunately I can't offer any help, but this is without question the greatest description of a health problem I've ever read in my life.

It really does sound like sciatic nerve pain with muscle spasm. Stretching exercises can be helpful.
Is your stomach tolerant of NSAIDs, Breeze? Motrin or Advil can help ease inflammation where Tylenol is just helping with pain.
Check out youtube or google "how to deal with sciatic nerve pain" and you'll see a bunch of recommendations.
I hope your ass feels better soon.

Thought sure this was going to be a hemorrhoid thread....

Anyways I have some sciatica pain at times and propping a stiff pillow between my knees while sleeping on my side seems to help immensely. Hope you find some relief.

I am not a doctor, but my mother had sciatic nerve pain problems and i helped her through much of it. A physical therapist was very helpful for her. The other thing I would suggest is minimizing stress on the back. Make sure your chairs and bed are ergonomically supportive. Just because something is comfortable doesn't mean it is ergonomically supportive. Also check your sleeping position is aggravating the issue. A solution like the one @bnlphan might be helpful. Try to reduce bumpy travel (long car journeys especially over country roads). The last, unfortunate, thing is that even if you do everything right, it can take months to heal.

Sorry to hear about your excruciating ass and balls agony.

Try getting adjusted by a chiropractor. For some they don't help much, for others they work wonders.

Every 30-45 days? If you are taking hormones, it may be your monthly "friend".

I literally just got back from my orthopedist regarding breathtaking pain ( and numbness) in my right ass and down ( when I stand up and/or first start walking). This came on out of nowhere, after sleeping on an air mattress for a week ( about 5 weeks ago).

I did a six day steroid pack, which worked wonders. But since then, I've been miserable. The culprit: sciatica, which is being aggravated by a narrowing of my spine between my L5 and S1 and maybe a bulging of the disc. I have to go to for PT and if no improvement etc for an MRI.

This getting old stuff sucks :( good luck, take Advil or some other NSAID and try some stretches.

Well, that basically means that he could not find a somatic explanation for your pain, it does not mean that your pain is not very real. If you are sure that your pain is not caused by any kind of stress, you may want to get a 2nd opinion by another doctor.

I don't know if this will help you but its worth a try - I get horrible cramps in my thigh from time to time- at night.... I can't even get up out of bed or walk.. I tried various remedies but I now take 2 apple cider vinegar tablets every morning and the cramps have stopped - hopefully for good!

I actually did think that. I had aggressive hormone treatment as a 12 year old and I’ve often wondered about that.

I just had the same thing done a month ago... been a huge help to me so far. Though my symptoms were different that what @Breeze147 describes, I was having issues with weakness in my left leg and pain on occasion running down the back side of my left leg. Now I'm back to exercising just fine and losing some weight to try and help myself some (novel idea). I'm glad to hear after a couple years you still have relief!

Sciatic nerve pain usually travels down towards your foot not the other cheek. But everyone is different. I assume since you had tests and X-rays your Doc ruled out kidney stones. Have you tried a chiropractor? I have only been to one once many years ago. I rarely get back pain. But I’m thinking of going soon to get an alignment and stretched. I have friends who go every couple of weeks.

An MRI of your lumbar and sacral area would be more detailed. If you doc would be so inclined. Hope your hiney and the boys start feeling better.

:wave:BREEZE, please know i am not making light of your condition. I also suffered similar nerve pain. after seeing a chiropractor, then a back specialist, taking vicodin like M&Ms i really did what DR. Ardee suggested. i found several stretching exercises on the internet. lost a few lbs and took some Advil when needed. after about a month i was greatly improved. the best of luck to you. Another vote for sciatica.

Only discernible by an MRI. Had one yet?

Steroids will help. If you got a dirty doctor have him call in a hefty 10 day cycle of Prednisone. Take it right out.
