I'm sorry. I confess I didn't even know today is St. Patrick's Day.

We go shopping today for groceries, though. Not too late to pick up a head of cabbage and a corned beef chunk. I love corned beef and cabbage.

Don't like the length of time it takes to make it, though.

    Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone!

Well I was prepared! Corned Beef has been the Crockpot for a little over an hour now. I found that is the easiest way to prepare it. Funny thing is I don't care for Corned Beef. I just make it for my family.

My 7 yr old son woke up and asked if it was St Patty's Day ?
I had watched a minute of the NYC parade Saturday - so I wasn't sure ?
Checked calendar " Yup, it is "
He told me " I have to wear GREEN !"
He is 50% Irish.......and I have been informing him of this the last two years.
    So I explained......when I couldn't find enough GREEN clothing.....that ORANGE can be
worn as well........... ( I had an ORANGE shirt handy . ).
I explained Catholic + Protestants briefly...........both - in my recent Family History.
    and he stated
" Daddy, 'History - Fact Or Fiction' ( TV Show ) said St Patrick wore BLUE.....so BLUE would be proper, too."
I said, " Okay.......but don't tell the Protestants or Catholics."

On the way home this morning after breakfast we stopped at a bar for a drink. We sat at the bar and 5 people we did not know, ordered Rubens. I love a good Ruben if it is made with good, brisket, not deli sliced corned beef. Anyway, their sandwiches came out (deli-sliced) and I have never in my life seen people eat a Ruben with a knife and fork. It's a SANDWICH!! But three of them used knife and fork.

I don't remember names, but just recently one of the newly announced Dems was made fun of for asking how to eat fried chicken. A couple of years ago a politician was made fun of for eating pizza with a knife and fork.

Nov 2020 is so far away and there will be so many more fobars.

C'mon mods be reasonable, this is not a political post. Granted, it may turn it to it, but for right now, it's not and it's funny.

I think it was President Ford that came through Texas and started to eat a tamale with the husk on. Loved Chevy Chase imitating Ford on SNL. Back when I watched it with the originals.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I'm wearing my green "I Love Las Vegas" T-shirt, and I have corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onions in the slow cooker.

when I was growing up, corned beef was from a funny shaped can that you open with a key. Never knew the other stuff existed until I was an adult.
My family still likes the canned stuff stir fried with cabbage and onions. If I make that today, nobody would complain.

It's the smell of the cabbage that keeps me away. No offense meant. Understand it's what you generally grew up with.
I grew up eating duck's blood soup made with prunes. I wouldn't take offense to anyone turning their nose up on that.

In my elementary school days I couldn't stand the smell of cabbage. My school used to also make "buttered cabbage" as our vegetable for the school meals. I couldn't keep it down, lol! When the teacher came around to check if we ate some of everything I would hide the cabbage in my empty milk carton.

Now I love cabbage. Go figure.

As far as duck blood soup I would try it. I'm Filipino so we make pig blood pudding. I agree it's generally what you grew up with.
