Sorry for this crazy derailed chain of thought but a few things happened recently that added up to something in my head.

    * One of the things I make in my small business is leather earrings. I made a pair for my favorite wine associate at the liquor store that looked like champagne bottles. She thanked me but noted that in her youth she used to stretch her earlobes because she thought it was cool and now she has trouble finding earrings to cover them. I made her a bracelet instead.

    * A nail tech I went to used to have a piercing in her eyebrow, which was all the rage at the time. Now she regrets it and tries everything she can to cover it.

    * Saw a guy who had a "Keep on Truckin" tattoo on his calf and wondered if anyone under 60 even recognizes it.

    * Then I remembered a show a few years back set in Vegas where the guys specialized in covering up bad tattoos. They had some real good "What were they thinking" examples.

Have you ever done anything permanent that seemed like a good idea at the time and now not so much?

I am luck to be old enough when all the fads in my teens and twenties had to do with haircuts, clothes and makeup, nothing I couldn't change. I don't have any tattoos not because I don't like them, just that I could never decide on something I'd want to see for a long time.

Lots of "it seemed like a good idea at the time" moments but nothing permanent. I have a couple tattoos, just small ones on my ankles.

Some regretful perms in the 80's.

I change my hair colour frequently. I'm currently sporting a pink lid...a test run for Vegas next month and the Pink concert. It'll stay Pink until I get back from Vegas and the concert....my husband hates it pink so that could be a good bargaining chip in future :)

    Oh....and it is PINK!

I usually think stuff through. I was in the navy for 20 years but do not have any tattoos. I also do not ever follow trends. if something becomes popular, i pretty much do not like it.

I guess anti trendy would be what I am.. That said I have had a couple motorcycle accidents that still cause a bit of pain a few years later. I regret that but they were just accidents so not like I was jumping the fountains or anything.

There is an actual, highly rated Tattoo removal shop in Denver called "What were you Inking?" . https://whatwereyouinking.com/ and no, I am not a customer. To answer your original question, Would a '74 Pinto Wagon with fake (of course) wood paneling count?

Sure, but only permanent if you got rear-ended.

Messing around with neighborhood security in the late 80’s. When they actually called the “real” cops on us, we ran in different directions. My path of choice involved running through a yard that consisted of different types and sizes of rocks so my right ankle was broken that night. I was fine with it but the girlfriend at the time wasn’t too happy I had a cast on for the prom I took her too...

None. Every decision I make is the best decision I could have made with the information available to me at the time. If new information presents itself that shows another choice or course of action would have been better, no regrets as I did the best I could have with what I knew at the time.

I take the “It’s a Wonderful Life” approach to that; everything before led me to where I am and since I am very happy where I am, no regrets there. My ex is still a friend.

I think most people with kids feel this way on a regular basis.

Buying a Chevy Cavalier because I wanted to help save the environment. It was the worst piece of shit car I ever owned and traded it in about 9 months later.

Back when the Cold War was still on......making a somewhat low altitude, high speed pass over a Soviet ship probably wasn't such a good idea.

But I got away with it. :D

Many, many what were you thinking moments over the years, but nothing permanent. 1981 Ford Escort just popped up in my list. That car was magical. Every day I got into it, it got smaller. 13 months until I changed.

Shooting an oversized beach ball sized bald faced hornets nest with a shotgun at the local 4 x 4/Offroad mudhole when I was in high school...

    ...Oh and I'm deathly allergic.

Oddly enough, I don't really regret any of the "long term impact" decisions I made-- tattoos, piercings, boyfriends. But there are some stylistic and financial decisions I've made over the years (which are now well behind me) that still make me cringe!

Every decision in life got me where I am now.(That's on me)
Now if only I could go back, I would choose differently on every single one of them!
