    My Trip Report

The MGM Springfield opened in August of last year, so it has been open for around 6 months.

I just came in from a fun trip to the MGM Springfield which of course is in Springfield, Massachusetts. Hence its name! This was my second time there. The 1st trip was for around 4 or 5 hours? This time my wife and I stayed overnight. MGM had sent us an offer for 2 comped nights, but for this trip we only stayed for one. They also gave my wife and me $20 each in Freeplay. Maybe on a future trip we will stay for 2 nights.

My gambling - I played around 7 hours of video poker the 1st day and around 3 hours on the 2nd day. I came home with all of my money, plus $50 in winnings. So, not a big winning trip, but I was happy. I got lots of quads this trip. My wife did not have a winning trip, but still had fun.

Food - Other than the food court, our only real meal was in TAP Sports Bar. A delicious burger & fries for me and a tasty Rueben with fries for my wife! TAP is a typical sports bar. I liked it. Lots of big screen TVs with games on! One thing different about TAP is that it has a 10 lane bowling alley.

The hotel - Friendly, professional check-in clerks at the front desk. The MGM Springfield has 250 rooms.Their lobby is small, but nice. This is different, the lobby has a library theme. Yes, it looks like a library. It's kind of cool. The lobby also has a bar and a Starbucks. Our room was very nice. Squeaky clean! Comfortable king size bed. I think all the hotel is non smoking? Our view was of the swimming pool and hot tub which were both covered for the winter.

The MGM Springfield was busy both of days I was there. The tables were hopping. The small poker room always seemed to have games going. One thing I noticed from my last visit was the addition of more video poker games. That was good to see.

And they have robot bartenders in the back bars since they opened.

But their revenue numbers overall compared to what they estimated are only 70-80%.

If you go back or anyone else planning to go and want pizza,
go across the street to Red Rose. One of the best around the area.

As soon as we saw the bathroom decor, we both said "T station." Not a big fan.

Staying here now at MGM Springfield. The non smoking casino is a nice experience but I have to say that the walls in the rooms here are paper thin. I can hear everything in the rooms next to me. Makes sleeping a challenge

MGM has 3 VP bars. The main one is very long and has several TVs. The Commonwealth VP bar is smaller but in a nice darker lounge that turns into a club Thu/Sun (like Clique at Cosmo). Also reminds me of Whiskey Down at MGM Grand. The Knox Lounge VP bar is part of the HL room and has denoms of $5/$100

Drink selection at VP bars is good. They comp drinks up to $15. I was able to have Glenfiddich 12 comped. Also free coffee and soda dispensers for those non drinkers

Food here is surprisingly affordable. TAP is a good sports bar and the food court has better than standard mall food options at decent prices

I’d come again but unsure if I would stay here even though the place is nice

    Chris

I've been to MGM Springfield several times...however now due to the significant rollbacks from MLife I'm pretty sure I'm going to be making my way to Encore Boston from now on...and I agree with your assessment 100%.

The walls are atrociously thin, you can hear the people next door like they're literally in the room with you. It was bothersome to us, and we had an end-hallway room. I can't imagine what it would be like sandwiched between two occupied rooms. Not only that, but we could hear people going to the bathroom in the room above us. I would never stay overnight there again.
