I try and eat really well for a few weeks, so I can lose a few. Then once I get there, I eat and drink like crazy. I tell myself I'm getting a lot of walking in, but since we stay downtown, that's not even true. I call this the Vegas Cycle.

The night before departure when I go to the garage and put my carryon backpack in the back seat of my car.

Weather forecast is a sure sign.

For Canadians it's also checking the exchange rates in the weeks leading up.

Well now Wednesday is only going to be 6 degrees warmer than here. :blah: I hate it when it's even nicer at home than in Vegas, drives me nuts for some reason.

I was going to arrive next Tuesday but weather looked not the best & I have a lot going on here so I changed to arrive Wednesday. I need bookend days.

That's another thing - I get panicky, but that's a whole 'nother thread!

and I see my countdown timer and say "uh, I have to lose xx lbs. a Day now" :haha:

    I know it’s close when:

    I start counting wearable undies
I weigh myself and realize I will never lose that 10 pounds before my trip
I get my daily envelopes out

It's under 75 cents I believe. Not pretty. And not going to be getting better.

Our $ was never at 1 Canadian for 2 American..it has been higher than the US $ but not at that ratio.

I knew the exchange rate was really, really good for you guys about 15-20 years ago.
I didn't realize it had gone down so much.

Do you hold on to your USD for your next trip or do you exchange it back afterwards every time?
I swear it seems like I always have a drawer full of money from places that I forgot about until I unpacked.
One year I took all the Euros and Pesos from the junk drawwer with me to Vegas and exchanged them at the Casino....it was a couple hundred dollars!

I start breaking $20 bills until I get like $50 in singles.

I look all over Google maps at all of the places I want to go.

We are going with friends this year so I'm emailing them "tip of the day" with practical stuff and humor.

I make jerky to hand out to street beggars that are "hungry".

I know it's close when I print out my final list of restaurants I want to try, gaming specials I want to take advantage of and extra curricular activities that made the grade...usually mentioned on this board or LVA.

Yes, for the CWs. That's why I always bring $100 in singles. For tipping...waitresses. Not go-go dancers or strippers. I wouldn't do something so sordid in a fine, cosmopolitan place such as Las Vegas.

No but seriously it's amazing how many $1s I burn through in a week in vegas.
