Just saw that Criss Cross Poker is coming to Binions later this month. Planet Hollywood had this game a few years ago but took it out. Glad to see it is returning to Vegas.

I played it a couple of times at Four Winds in Michigan. Only place I had ever seen it. It's a fun game, but a bit volatile!

Agreed. It's like Mississippi Stud on steroids, but it can be a lot of fun.

Yeah other than swinginess slash cost of the game, i'm a little surprised this didn't take off.

    Fun practice demo here:
    http://playags.com/crisscross_demo/

Wizard says for the across & down bets:
    1x for any 2 cards that includes a 6+.
3x for any pair, or suited J-Q or higher.
Fold if both cards are under 6 and not suited.
If you have a 3x bet on the across or down, bet 3x on the middle.

    Fun game... volatile as hell!

...another thing I've figured out (playing the demo) is that when your hole-cards are both 6+, always 1x the middle, regardless of having nothing else.

Good advice. I play this game frequently at a casino in WV. The one thing I have noticed is that in actual play, most players do not fold regardless of how bad their cards are. They generally play most hands all the way through because so much could change based upon that middle card. I try to play by the strategy rules, but admit there are times that I haven't - to mixed results.

4 tables here in NJ @ the Borgata and always crowded. Its a fun game but the swings can be miserable. A $5 table = $30 minimum per hand if you play it out. So a few bad hands without folding and you can be into the game a few hundred real quick.
    However the paytable is enticing:
    CRISS CROSS POKER PAYTABLE:

    Winning Hand Pays
    Royal Flush 500 to 1
    Straight Flush 100 to 1
    Four of a Kind 40 to 1
    Full House 12 to 1
    Flush 8 to 1
    Straight 5 to 1
    Three of a Kind 3 to 1
    Two Pair 2 to 1
Pair of Jacks or Better 1 to 1
    Pair of 6s - 10s Push

    5 CARD BONUS PAYTABLE:

    Winning Hand Pays
    Royal Flush 500 to 1
    Straight Flush 100 to 1
    Four of a Kind 40 to 1
    Full House 15 to 1
    Flush 10 to 1
    Straight 6 to 1
    Three of a Kind 4 to 1
    Two Pair 3 to 1
    6s or Better 1 to 1

FYI this is for NJ and pays may vary in other locations.

we play criss cross in our home game... doubt it's anything like the casino game

we all get 4 cards and the cross is in the center.....

first card costs a dollar ,though i've played as high as 5....second card the bet ups....
if an ace or pair appears automatically the bet doubles....
and so forth.... can make for a wild game.

Yes. Binions had the game when I was there at the end of January. The dealers were still being trained on it, so be patient.

I don't understand the middle bet. What am I betting on to happen?

Middle bet is the highest hand of what you made on either the down or across I believe.

If you already have a pair of 6s or better on either the 'across' or 'down', you always 3x the 'middle' bet, as you cannot lose on this bet.
If I have 3 total cards of 6 or better that could par up with the middle card, I play it @ 1x. Also - if both of my hole cards are 6+, I 1x the middle as well.
On the betting with the simulator, I've been using the same as UTH, going 10-10-5 ($5 on the '5-card bonus)... That bonus hits a lot more often than the 'Trips' bet in UTH.

Sounds like a game you don't want to play after too many drinks.

kind of hard to vary your original bet in this.

To play out till the end on a $5 bet will cost you $30.
Go to a $10 bet and you are looking at $60.

A streak of 5 or more hands that doesn’t hit anything and some serious damage to your stack is done.
Much different than 5 losing hands at a $5 BJ table.

The other thing that is maddening is that you make hands with 5 cards. Your 2 and the 3 across or down.
I’m used to UTH where you get to use all 5. Lots of flushes, straights, and 3 of a kinds I would have had in UTH that just didn’t line up right in Criss Cross.

    @Breeze147 ...
You have your two cards... you play them twice - once, with the 2 revealed cards on the horizontal line & a second time with the 2 revealed cards on the vertical line.
The middle-card is shared by both lines, and requires a third bet... so, at the end, you have two hands of 5 cards each, with 3 bets placed, plus two antes, plus the "5 card bonus" bet, if you desire.
The "middle-card" bet is a no-brainer, so long as either your horizontal or vertical hand has a pair of 6s or better (which includes your 2 hole cards as well.)

If you do not have 6s or better after those first 4 cards are revealed (2 & 2), you will still bet the "middle card" bet @ 1x if:
    • Your two hole cards are both 6+.
    • You have 4 to straight or flush on either hand.
    • You have 3+ total cards that are 6+.
If your two hole cards are both less than 6, fold
