Normally I use the Palazzo's complimentary transportation to/from McCarran if I'm alone or get a limo if with other(s). I was sent an offer for discounts on Lyft/Uber - which I have used before. But in pricing I noticed it makes the fare from the airport about $12 - or "free" if I opt for a shared ride.

I can see the shared ride being very frustrating if I got paired with someone heading to the other end of the strip for example.

Has anyone tried a shared ride from the airport to the casino? Experiences with it? My guess is its worth the $25'ish bucks to have the car to myself (both ways) but thought I'd ask.

Typically they send those rides in the same direction. Last trip we did that, my gf and best friend and I and then one other person in the Uber. Literally they went right in order of the hotels we were all going to.

Just because you use Uber Pool or Lyft Line does not mean you will be sharing the ride either. Every trip I have made the last 2 years I have been going has been Line or Pool for a cost savings and only shared twice.

I never do shared rides for three reasons...

    (i) You are putting your trip almost completely at the mercy of the competency of whoever is getting picked up. This is a huge liability in a city like Vegas, where rideshare drivers have to pick up in very specific places, which passengers can't always identify. So I don't really want to be sitting in the back seat looking at my watch while the driver is on the phone fighting with the other passenger saying "No, go here, not there".

(ii) It's only a moderate cost savings. Yes, I realize $3 and $4 for an average length trip adds up here and there... but with the amount that can go wrong, I view that extra $3 or $4 as an insurance policy against the stupidity/incompetence of others.

(iii) Rideshare drivers make so little money as it is... and I know many drivers don't even accept shared rides because they generate so little revenue. So even if I do have a "shared" ride completely to myself (which has happened for me on most of the shared rides I have taken in the past), I think that to take shared rides on the assumption that I'll simply get the car to myself is just exploiting a vulnerability in the system that ultimately comes at the expense of drivers. So out of respect to the drivers, I will only take private rides.

In my limited experience, They have not quite figured out the best algorithm for pairing people up yet. I seem to always end up just enough out of my way to make it not worth the few dollar savings.
I do however like the self driving Lyft vehicles :)

I did. I won’t do it again. A trip to Cosmo had stops at Luxor and Mandalay Bay first. I actually did it by accident, I was so excited to land that I did all the wrong things. It wasn’t worth the 6-7 bucks I think I saved.

As a driver in New Jersey, I hate the shared rides and decline them whenever possible.

To the point about making so little already, I did a shared ride this week originating at Newark Airport. I picked up three people going to three different places. My pay was boosted 100% because the airport was very busy. I earned $60 for my effort, including $12 in tolls, but the three riders were charged a total of $150. Under the pay structure when I first started driving in 2015, I'd have made $120.

Why would you even consider this? Just to save a few dollars? It isn't expensive to have your own driver.

Isn't it crazy the things people will do to save a few bucks while giving up precious vacation time.

I did once from Orleans to Cromwell; picked up a gal at McDonald's on Trop. Truly no big deal.
I agree, tho--it really isn't worth the few $ saved, ESPECIALLY if it screws the driver.

I agree it is up to the driver to do these rides or not (I am a driver myself) but I also tip my drivers a min of $5 for a ride.

Do it quite a bit when we are going down to the strip and will be drinking. From my house to say Encore a regular/solo uber is 16-19 bucks and the shared is always between 4 and 6, seems like a no brainer to me unless you hate money...

I used Uber with a discount and got a ride in a white Mercedes by myself for 8.13$ to Ballys. Cant get much cheaper than that.
