So I'm headed out to Vegas for the first weekend of March Madness. First time trying this and I expect it to be chaos. Staying Friday at Linq and Saturday-Sunday at Cosmo. If I can get bets down, it might work out fine to just watch in the room. However, I'm interested in what others have done. It looks like there will be lots of watch parties for $$. I would consider that if there is assigned seating. I'm totally clueless here. Thoughts?

Sounds like you already know the options. There are watch parties for a fee. Lots of them. The ones I have been to in the past, the seats are assigned. But I usually do not do them because there are TVs set up everywhere. Its easy to find a place outside your room to watch the games

Welcome to your first MM experience! It's an absolute blast!

Thursday and Friday are the only days it 'may' be worth it to book a viewing party. As UK said, there are PLENTY of TVs in the casinos. We've done the first weekend of the tournament since 2001 (iirc... maybe 2000?) and the crowds drop off on Saturday and especially on Sunday.

Agree with BTSyndrome - start reading the Facebook group info now.

It's the best weekend of the year. Like others have said, downloading an app to place your bets is a really nice option. Also, if you make it downtown, there are several watch parties with great atmosphere that are free of charge. First come first served on the seating, but many of them never fill to capacity.

Start with Syndromes suggestion...MMILV Facebook site!

My suggestion for best place to watch ( with 19 more TVs than your room) would be to attend one if the CET Watch parties. I can speak to the Caesars ( CET) I have done them at Planet Hollywood (2 times), Harrahs ( once) , Caesars ( once ) and Flamingo ( 3 or 4 times). For an experience wagerer your round table affirms you plenty room for your odds sheets, spread out you bets ( yes I DONT do the app) , eat and drink without putting your food/beverage on your lap. then CET watch parties, specifically the Flamingo, is undoubtedly your best bet. Approximately 20 huge flat screens form 2 rectangles around the ballroom ceiling. Any seat in the room gives you a clear view of at least 4/6 TVs. And with 4 games going full blast by 11 am on Thursday and Friday, being able to watch all 4 games is a must!

All you can drink beer ( and with VIP wrist bands, mixed drinks too) and all day buffet that rotates it’s menu daily and hourly, makes this party rare. Most, for under 200, are just booze parties. I stopped drinking booze 26 years ago, but for the life of me ...watching guys puke in the ballroom, bathroom, piss themselves and all before 1 pm is getting to be rather juvenile and tired Can’t find the fun in that . Being able to put something on your stomach while you drink for 12 hours seems to be the intelligent and responsible thing to do. And Flamingo makes it easy to do just that! I sense that the number of drunken episodes at the Flamingo are considerably less than at the ALYCD parties with no food option.

Here’s some pictures from last year at Flamingo . Each wall has 2 huge flat screens and in the middle of room there are 4 additional huge flat screens facing east and west ( 2 facing east/west total) . Apologies to Kathie Durban McGrath ( U of Arizona fan), Brian Churchill, Lisa Platt, Jason Pall and 4 wild and crazy guys from Idaho for showing them having a good time!

This is my first time coming out the first weekend (last 3 years I’ve done the weekend prior for conference tournaments just bc you get as many games but no crowds). So far I have a table booked at Blondies in miracle mile for the Thurs afternoon sessions and it’s $200 spend for the table. Saturday we have 2 bar seats booked for Lagase’s that have a $200 spend per person that should be interesting trying to hit!

I would recommend either the Westgate or South Point. Both are away from the strip (a plus) and if the BB viewing is anything like football...then thumbs up!!

These may not be for everyone but I have found a couple of good open bar deals. These offer good beer options in a bar atmosphere for less money than the conference/ballroom type viewing parties that usually offer Bud/Miller/Coors Light at a higher price. These also offer outdoor seating which for me is a big bonus coming from the Midwest winters, don't want to be cooped up indoors for 3-4 days. Contact information to reserve for each place is in the information below.

Hooters Casino, both the Underground Lounge and The Porch. Thursday 3/21 & Friday 3/22 only.
$99 all day AYCD multiple draft beers and buffet food
    +21% gratuity
    +8.25 taxes
Draft Beer to include-Goose Island IPA, Hop Knot, Elysian, Shock Top, Mich Ultra, Bud/Bud Light.

Buffet food to include breakfast sandwiches in the morning and sliders, wings, salad, fries, cookies during lunch/dinner hours.

Call/Well liquor upgrade for $35, this will include bottle & can beer, spiked coffee, bloody marys etc...
Premium liquor upgrade for $55 to include liquors like Grey Goose, Makers Mark, etc...

Also a $150 option for a 2 day package. Weather permitting the pool will be open for everyone to use, if your at the Underground or the Porch. The Porch has outside patio seating. The Underground is next to the sports book.

To reserve, ask questions or get more information contact Karen Davis 702 497-2035 email [email protected]
Seats will be reserved and all should have views of multiple TV's.

I'd recommend the experience at Umami Burger at SLS. Unlike the ballrooms, the atmosphere is tailored to watching a game. The sportsbook is built in to the restaurant, so getting in on halftime wagers shouldn't be a problem. In its class, the food is top notch, much better than Lagasse Stadium.

    From the SLS site:

    https://slslasvegas.com/promotions/march-mania/
    Umami Burger
Basketball, bets, beers, and burgers! Watch the games on over 50 high-definition TVs and a giant video wall, plus enjoy open bar, easy access to multiple William Hill betting stations, and guaranteed reserved seating all day. Packages start from $128.

For only $40, you can upgrade to the premium drink package for all-you-can-drink draft beer, Skyy Vodka, Wild Turkey, Epsolon, Bulldog Gin, and Captain Morgan. Available only at the door.

Umami Burger is a venue I thought offered great value but now the price went way up and the quality of beer has gone down. 2 years ago we paid $50 all day AYCD open bar at the outdoor bar. They had one rotating craft beer from start to finish, basically once that keg was empty a new option was offered, really liked this.

Last year was $60 for house beer, some cheaper beer that I don't remember and well drinks. Not awesome but at least it was cheap and able to sit outside.

This year $128 for Bud Light and well drinks for the cheapest seats. If you want real beer and a better version of well liquor (Skyy vodka, Wild Turkey, Espolon, Bulldog Gin, and Captain Morgan) it will cost an extra $40, not for me this year.

Westgate for us worked perfect. Good views, inexpensive food/beer, and leg room.
