I think the mattress against the wall was in jest.

    You are correct sir!

If I was being serious I would have advised to cover all the walls in heavy duty bubble wrap...

It's not necessary to insulate an interior wall. As long the studs are up to code, an inspector won't care. No doubt, they used the cheapest dry wall they could get away with. As long as it's UL listed Fire Resistant, no one cares.

I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. Contractors will try to beat you any way they can. If something costs $0.01 less, they will try to use it versus what is in the spec. It takes a sharp inspector and a sharp spec writer to catch these things. I know. I was both.

Contractors, especially ones doing remodeling, are the spawn of Satan. Don't even get me started on Asbestos Removal contractors.

You're either going to have to deal with it or avoid Park MGM, because nothing is going to change.

    Wear earplugs.

The MO/ Waldorf has amazing insulation in the walls. Very quiet in general. And it draws a type of guest who likely won’t be drunk and yelling in the hall at 3am.

Another reason I enjoy the Hard Rock's HRH Tower... you can't hear shit in the next room, at least nothing that's gonna cause an issue for me.

My office is undergoing complete renovations right now. Phase by phase I get to see everything they do. They sound proofed the CEO's office and the Finance Manager's office by using insulation in the walls of those offices. The insulation appeared to be quite dense too. No other interior walls received insulation from what I have seen yet. I told the site supervisor to put some insulation in my walls when my office gets built by using leftover insulation from this or other projects. We'll see if he actually sneaks it in. I doubt it. I'm sure the left over stuff is being used in his own personal projects.

After coming back at 2 am to the former Harrah's Tunica hearing our neighbors fucking through the adjoining door 6 or 7 years ago, we've always requested no adjoining door since and will immediately go back down and demand to change rooms if they throw us in one anyway (25% likely).

I'd like to know the person who came up with the adjoining door, so i could punch him or her in the face.

The only thing worse than thin walls is a connecting room. EVERY time I've had a connecting room I somehow am next to someone with very very loud, yelling kids.

The Park MGM thin walls are the same thin walls of Monte Carlo. All that construction work and no improvement to soundproofing.

I have experienced paper thin walls in many Vegas casinos.
Sorry MGM, but the Downtown Grand takes the prize on this one.
    It seems like NO walls.

For those who care, SLS is surprisingly quiet in the hotel rooms.

Notable heard-thru-the-wall conversations I have experienced:

    1. At the Encore, once heard a number of girls getting ready to go out and party. Funny as hell. Their language would make a sailor blush.
    2. Heard a guy conversing with his dog. "Get down, bitch!" "On your knees, bitch!" "Bitch, I will kill you if you ever do that again!"
    3. Numerous feats of copulation at all hours of the day

I've always wondered why some people choose to stay in the room all day, missing out on all that Vegas has to offer.

Expensive, no, but multiply any small number by a large number (like number of walls) it can become more expensive that one budgeted.
