    For Me --
Only my 29 th Birthday felt like a MILESTONE to me.
29th cos it was my LAST year until 30 years old ! How did I ever get one year to 30 !!!???? GASP !!!!!
,.....and 30 was easy and uneventful....cos 29 was so HUGE ,...GASP !!!!!
    " Don't trust anyone over 30 ! " ( 1968 Convention Riot ).....I was 14.
    .
So I thought 50 would be BIG ?
    Nope.......nothin special.
    .
    But
    Tomorrow I turn 65 -
I actually feel this is some kind of MILE STONE.
I guess, by 65 - everyone is suppose to be retired ?
Ahh ?.......not yet ........but that's what I thought for SO MANY years !
    " Hey ?....you retire at 65 ."
    I always heard that ?
    .
I've also become closely aware of other peers passing.
    Family too.
Betty Davis " Old age is not for sissy's."
    .
    So tell me ?

My birthdays really don’t matter to me as far as how I feel. What makes me think about my age though are when my kids hit milestones. Oldest Turns 30 this year that hits me my kid is 30. I must be getting up there in years.

My 65th birthday was on father’s day last year. I’m not retired. My hobbies are expensive and my job gives some satisfaction.

40 hit me pretty hard. Probably some mid-life crisis type crap.

Turning 30 was a kick in the pants, felt like it was time to finally grow up and that youth was over

turning 13 was a big deal... me and a now deceased friend shared a pizza ...

18 was YUUGE because the drinking age in Mass was lowered to 18 that year...
no longer had to make the trek to Vermont to fill the car with beer....

when i was 21, it was a very special year....for a small town boy.... sorry frank for changing the lyric

50 was a highlight as the wife let me go to Vegas and meet up with a bunch of crazy Vegas board
friends ... they surprised me by having the Twinkeys call me up to the piano at Harrahs piano bar...

dang, i though i had the picture of me sitting there red faced on this pc as they sang the naughty HB song.
    will update in the morning....

this coming May i will turn 65...already enrolled for medicare and hope to spend it in vegas also, but that's iffy....

but am trying to convince the better half since her birthday is in june(not 65) to go....

i took her for her 50th and splurged for her....so, i'm saying there's a chance

30 was a piece of cake for me...31? Not so much. At 31, it really hit me that my "20s" were actually over...and they weren't coming back.

Since then, no problems...no "corvette, gold-chain, half-opened shirt, trade-in the wife" mid-life crisis for me... everything's gone fairly smoothly since 31... that is, until 2018 when I turned 61... 61 has been a bit rough...the truth of "mortality" has been kicking me in the nuts for the past several months... peers are starting to pass-away more frequently, & it occurs that I haven't really lived the healthiest lifestyle...
However, just as with 31, I fully expect to get over these morbid thoughts soon, and get back to living and enjoying every moment I can...while I still can!

...in fact, I think I'll go pour myself a Canadian on the rocks, right now!

They just kind of roll by for me. I never have really made much of a big deal out of them, especially if I wasn't in a relationship at the time. Kind of shocked I'm as advanced as I am at this point. I AM going to try to make my upcoming 50th in April a thing though. That's a pretty big milestone I'd say, chances are more than half of your life has been lived and though I don't think about it much you're certainly on the "downslope" rather than the "ascent". I'm going to try to make that day one to (hopefully?) remember - in Vegas, of course.

Not yet, and I'm surprised. Each milestone birthday is still just another mile on a coast-to-coast journey for me...just a year, just a number, but the gains surpass the losses.

I do lose some things over the journey, I'm not as pretty, not as fit, but I gain other gifts, I am much more confident, peaceful and happy.

I know I'll have a birthday that hits me eventually. So far though, the perks of youth that I've traded for the gifts of age/experience have been astronomical upgrades for me.

Until I feel like I am losing more than I'm gaining, my birthdays probably will continue to be just a number for me...and I hope it stays this way for a long time! :)

There are only two kinds of birthdays: the ones you look forward to, and the ones you fear. I am now old enough to fear birthdays rather than look forward to them.

Not more than when my mom and dad reminded us as kids to find a way to make a good memory out of every day.
Mom passed when in my senior year of high school. Dad two dozen years later. All of them good days. I miss them and try.

Well, I always thought mine was inconsequential, other than the fact 9/10 is easy for people to remember.

    Until 2001 that is!

On my b'day in 2001 one of my cow-orkers placed a spice cupcake on my desk with a (singular) candle. I appreciated it.

The next morning I was kidding her about "Where's my cupcake!" when the news came on about the attack! :(

A few years later I was flying back from Chicago MDW-OMA. I checked in and checked bags all normally, but when I got to the TSA checkpoint the agent informed me that my drivers license had expired the day before!

Yes, it was 9/11 and my DL expired on my b'day! They were checking things closely that day and caught it.

Fortunately I had enough other items to prove that I was me (passport, employee ID, etc.) but they sure missed the expired DL at the Southwest ticket counter when I checked bags.

As an adult and my birthday in January seems we are always trying to get Christmas paid off so I rarely do anything special. Except maybe a meal. At 16 I avoided getting my license because I knew I needed glasses and didnt want to get them so nothing to look forward to there. At 21 I had already been drinking for 3 years so nothing special there. Now I guess I'm looking forward to 50 so I can get cheap life insurance through Colonial Penn.
