What happened to the "drink call" slot feature?

Some time back there was quite a bit of publicity about a slot machine feature that let you order a drink from your machine, then a CW would bring it shortly thereafter. I recall it being pretty controversial - the CWs didn't like it; there were constant headaches from people disappearing before their drinks arrived, or changing seats, things like that.

I'm just curious, what happened to this idea? Did it fade, or are casinos still doing it? Sounds like a nice idea to me. I get tired of CW half-jogging past me, with their heads deliberately turned, while I'm waving like an idiot trying to get their attention.

Everyone here was saying it was the greatest thing to ever happen to Vegas.

Of course they tried them and they were gone 6 months later. Just cant replace the old school proven method. I am glad they never caught on, You know it was just a matter of time before you could not get a drink because of your level of play.

I've seen them. Must be Horseshoe Southern Indiana because I remember stating that I'm not paying their prices so couldnt have been in Vegas.

I remember I was at Rio somewhere around 2010 or a bit later and they were using ipad's to take drink orders and then they would call a CW to fulfill the order. It was weird and imo unnecessary.

The order from your machine feature is in use at Caesars Windsor, but of course you have to pay for your drinks there.

I remember seeing this system in use at the Linq a couple years ago. Might have been during the brief "Quad" branding. Only saw it on one visit. It was pretty fast and efficient, but there were different waitresses taking and delivering the orders, so there was little ability to try to influence the speed of your service or the stiffness of your pours by tipping and talking to the waitress.

All CET in A/C have it. it works very well there. Although my DW did have a CW that told her she ordered 'too quickly' and wouldn't give her the drink she ordered.

They still do this off and on, but last few trips there it's more off than on.

I also saw them do it at Linq once a long time ago.

Soooo...it sounds like it has application in places OTHER than Vegas..'lantic City, Windsor, Kentuckiana, etc.. Could be that not all casinos are created equal.

It works great at Harrah's AC.

Palazzo used to have it, but like most good things Palazzo, it went POOF.

My understanding was the tablet thing went away at the linq due to tips - two people working to share $1 tip instead of one person getting the entire tip was a challenge.
