Converting Total Reward Credits?

Just won 150,000 TR Reward Credits in a slot tournament. Is it best to convert to $750 cash/ free play or keep the $1500 value reward credits. I know if we have that, our host would use it first before any backend comp. What’s your opinion?

 

If you are going to be giving up backend comps, then convert it to free play and run it through a video poker machine. Unless you see something nice in a gift shop you want - or a nice meal.

 

It's really not worth to convert to FP anymore since they changed the conversion rates. If you play/earn enough for back-end comps then yes, the host will use your RCs first then apply any additional back-end up comps. As meyers said, you can get something nice in the gift shop or convert the RCs to FP as a last resort if needed.

I agree your host will drain your RC's before you get any backend comps. You should therefore consider what you can do to spend the RC's in an efficient manner before you face a checkout. Wyndham points are a lot better trade off than the 2:1 free play deal and you can take a vacation in places where there is no casinos (I am looking at you Hawaii).

I would take the $1500 in rewards. I’m sure I could find something to spend it on.

Do you eat enough at restaurants to use them up?
How about shows?
Spa?

Hard to say.

We tend to carry a decent balance and never count on back end comps. Did convert some to slot play once, but the 2:1 conversion is painful.

By the way, those points can transfer to Wyndam Hotel points for rooms - max of 40k per year.

Gift shop - hard to spend unless you like Vegas themed merchandise. You can get booze in many shops though.

Do get backend comps, but have never requested much.

 

Sometimes the Horseshoe by me has a reduced conversion rate as a promo. Just something to think of.

 

Then you are probably leaving unused comps on the table. My wife learned to buy quality lotions from the SPA prior to check out as we used to make that mistake.

 

As in the post above - it depends. If you stay at CET often save the points. If not convert some of them or purchase something with them I have lots of points and I haven't paid for meal at CET for years. I've had lots of great meals with friends/relatives. BTW, I can't remember when I last used back-end comps.

 

As many people have said on this thread, it really depends on whether or not you qualify to take backend comps.

Personally, I like to "play it safe" and always have my meals covered by RCs. There are some people that consider it a "stupid" way to use my RCs, but it is what I'm comfortable with. I don't like to feel "compelled" to play more than 1000 or 2500TC in a day to "make" backend comps.

 

I agree with this, I always like to play it safe too and not have the worry of not having played enough to cover my room charges.

 

If you don’t get much in comps usually, then definitely keep the reward credits and use them for meals, spa and show tickets on future trips.

 

The free play is no longer a good value. Do something you wouldn’t ordinarily do—expensive concert, massages, bottles of wine.

 

So I have a little over 40k points in my mlife account. If I turn that into express comps will express comps expire? I also have an MLIFE master card so does it even matter? I think i read on this thread that if you have a CC with them that the points don't expire

 

Congrats awesome win i would leave them as RC like most said nice meals spa so many ways to enjoy using them but to lose half ouch there is some CET properties that don t use them on backend but i might be wrong rules change
