I "have to" spend another day in Vegas. Pick a hotel, any hotel!

I was fully under the impression that I had my upcoming March trip squared away. Three nights at the Mirage, three nights at Golden Nugget, and then back home to the miserable cold. Well, not quite. I generally book my flights one-way, and it turns out that it costs 2x as much to fly home on my planned day as it would cost to fly home the day after. So, we all know what that means... one more day in Vegas!

Now, I'm not just going to be boring and take one extra night at the Golden Nugget. Aside from it being no fun, I don't even want to stay at the Golden Nugget in the first place. It was just the best option for my stay, that's the only reason I'm spending three nights there.

So, in my spontaneous nature, I've decided to take this opportunity to spend exactly one night at a brand new property of some kind. I've currently got five under consideration, listed below with corresponding pros/cons. Though I'd be open to any and all suggestions... whether it's because you think I'd genuinely like a given place, or whether it's because you've always been curious as to what a place actually looks like and you just want to see the photos in my TR :)

    1. Fremont

Pros: Comped, across the street from Golden Nugget for proximity

Cons: No change of scenery, seemingly just an average resort from the times I've been there

    2. Four Queens

Pros: Inexpensive, room service, always wanted to stay there, right next to the Golden Nugget for proximity

Cons: Also no change of scenery, and I also feel like there isn't much to see here beyond what you can see as a guest in the casino and restaurants

    3. Eastside Cannery

Pros: Inexpensive, my favourite casino Longhorn is across the street, and it's a straight line down Tropicana to the airport

Cons: Stayed in this vicinity three times already, dining options nearby are generally unimpressive

    4. Fiesta Henderson

Pros: Seems to have that "locals quirkiness" about it, $3 table games, close to Green Valley Ranch which I've always wanted to visit, and a movie theatre

    Cons: Distance

    5. Palace Station

Pros: Not terribly far from downtown, has an airport shuttle included. It's also close to the North Outlets, which I need to go to for a gift I need to buy someone. I'll also have no excuse to not go to Oyster Bar which I've failed to do in my past three trips.

Cons: Actually kind of expensive compared to the other options. I also can't think of much else I'd do at this property other than a round of bingo and a meal at Oyster Bar.

I vote for 5 Palace Station.
Bingo - Oyster Bar and North Outlets!

Herbs and Rye, G.O.A.T and The Phoenix :evillaugh: are just down the street
The Egg & I and Chic-Fil-A are close.
    Biwon Korean BBQ or Osaka!!
Dotties and Jackpot Joanie's isn't that far away.
    House Of Bargains Thrift Store...(Macklemore)
    International scouting Museum?
    Kounts Kustoms

    Palace Station.

Forgive me for going off the list, but for one night I would strongly suggest the premium tower Room at El Cortez, south facing. it is very nice and it is affordable.

Fremont. You can just grab your stuff and go across the street.

If you want to be spontaneous, try staying st Whiskey Pete’s at the stateline you will run into some weirdness there.

Eastside Cannery and Longhorn are at Boulder Highway and E. Harmon. Tropicana is further south

I would do the Fiesta Henderson we have never stayed there but have stopped there and like the slot selection and the low min table games and food choices also the movie theater, but we are not fans of the bingo hall, we are trying to decide if we want to stay there or the Sunset Station on are next trip just to get away from the strip and downtown for a couple of days to relax and just enjoy the property, so you can see I have a selfish reason to vote this way because I would be interested to see what you thought of this property, your trip reports are always a good insight into the property you are staying at.

Comped wins in my book. If it's free, it's for me!

Otherwise -- really go far afield and try South Point.

South Point has a free shuttle to the airport.

Sunset Station and Boulder Station are both nice in my opinion

I have always thought about staying there. I’ve gambled there but it is an expensive can to other locations. Much less by Uber I imagine

Lots of good ideas... but as much as I love Vegas and another night sounds great... doing it to save on the airfare would be counter productive in my case. Assuming the airfare would cost $400 more... I would easily drop that staying in Vegas.... LOL!

I encourage going off the list, not to worry :) I do actually want to stay in one of the tower rooms after seeing the pictures from Fullpay's TR. But I ended my last trip at Elco, and I'm specifically after a property that is new to me this time.

Hahaha, believe me... if my summer trip pans out the way I'm planning for it to, there will be stops in Primm (naturally including Whiskey Pete's), Pahrump, and a number of other out-of-the-way places. The Idle Spurs Tavern in Sandy Valley (where Ace went to meet Nicky in Casino after Nicky got blacklisted) is on that list too. Out of the question for this trip, but definitely not for an upcoming trip.

Yup, I know... but it's just a few blocks away from Tropicana, still making it a relatively straight-line trip.

I take your selfishness as a compliment, because it means I take good enough photos to satisfy your curiosity :) Based on the responses here, it's essentially down to either Fiesta or Palace Station. The silly factor that will likely decide this is my dinner plans. A selling point of staying at Fiesta is proximity to GVR, and I've always wanted to have dinner at Hank's steakhouse there. It's likely I'll be having steak the night before, and I don't want to overdo it... so once I've got that side of the plan firmed up, it will be likely to sway me in one direction or the other.

Hahaha, I knew someone would come along and say that :) As you know, I'm a very low roller. I'd be hard-pressed to lose $100 in a day playing machines, or maybe $200 in a day playing tables.

I was actually looking at Lucky Club's hotel. I'll already have spent quite a bit of time in that area though, as I'll have been at Silver Nugget/Chicas Bonitas on the Thursday, and Poker Palace on both Friday and Saturday. I also wasn't that wowed by Lucky Club for much else other than the casino.

Fiesta Henderson. I like hanging around the locals once in a while. Can be very entertaining. Of course, you will see a higher percentage of degenerate gamblers, so that part is depressing.

I’d be curious to see your take on SLS (Cleo is a gem!). Scott from VitalVegas is a big fan - bet he’d be happy to show you the highlights of the place if you asked him.

Have you considered Oasis at Gold Spike? It's walking distance to the Nugget and they have midweek nights around the $30 mark. I would be interested in reading your review of this place. A few others here have written reviews and if IRC, it seemed alright. No casino there but it's a different kind of experience from typical Vegas.

I’ll echo the Oasis/Gold Spike curiosity as well. Wonder if you could show them the readership stats on your trip reports to negotiate a hefty discount on their Real World suite!
