Yes, it's still the Hard Rock. I was just there. Any changes should be shown on their website - https://www.hardrockhotel.com/ They are supposedly changing the players club soon.

The players club stopped all promotions in November. Now I'm just waiting for the new casino management to take over and see what the offers are.

Can't be any worse than the old management group, with $4 coin-in = 1 point on video poker.

I'm not so sure that it can't.

I hope the employees are happy with the new management and changes.

I haven't been down since late September, which is a long time for me. Everything looked the same, except some "room refresh's" going on. My room in the HRH Tower had new carpet & new couches and the hallways had new carpets and light sconces. That project had started floor by floor prior to the sale announcement. One of the things I've always loved most about the HRH Tower is every time I stay there, my room looks brand new.

I did see a disappointing Vital Vegas "rumor" that the relatively new MB Steakhouse and Culinary DropOut restaurants won't be around much longer. My contacts told me they expected the rebranding to start in 2019, with a Grand Opening in December of 2019. Everyone I spoke to seemed very positive about the new ownership. Another of my favorite things about the place is staff loyalty and low turnover. I started staying there in '09 or '10 (when they opened the new Towers) and most of the folks that welcomed me then are still there.

Like @smartone, I have had some great trips to the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. I ate at the old steakhouse (and loved it) and really liked Culinary Dropout... I will be disappointed to see that go. Overall it is a very underrated property. I tended to stay there less often due to the horrible table game rules, but I loved the overall vibe and restaurant line up.

All that said - I am looking forward to the rebranding and "refresh"!

    From Today’s Vital Vegas:

“Big news out of Hard Rock employee meetings today, including first word entire resort will close for four months during the phased, eight-month-long renovation.”

Whoa! Any idea when that 4 month closure begins? My friend was looking forward to going there in February.

This one has me scratching my head. It tells me they don't value the current customer base(or employees) much. There must be something else going on I don't know about. You don't force your customers to try another place unless it's absolutely necessary. Customer acquisition costs are high. I guess some employees will get unemployment and enjoy the time off. Others (probably the best) will get new gigs.

The Palms has done a complete make over while only closing the affected areas.

    I'm puzzled.

It does seem like they want to get rid of the current customers and start off fresh with a whole new customer base. But that is rather odd. Why would you want to ditch your current customers?

I suspect they made that determination after seeing the way Park MGM was dragged through the mud for their decision to remain open during their renovation. It generated TONS of bad reviews and lingering bad feelings, and Virgin Hotels is still a very new brand with something like 2 US locations currently in operation, so I can see why they'd be cautious about that. As for their employees, I read that they are being taken care of (to at least some extent) during the closure and have the option to return to their same jobs when the property reopens.

I share your concern about the employees/staff. I'll be down next month and plan to ask a few of the ones I know well. Also agreed on the "what we don't know part"… again this info came from a Vital Vegas tweet, not a formal or official announcement. Truly loyal fans of the property will be excited to see the result of the rebranding. The fair-weather folks may indeed find other places to play/stay temporarily, but I'm sure will give the new joint the once-over when the work is complete.

it sounds like they won't shutdown until some time around September 2019 or January 2020.

Hard Rock Las Vegas to Close Four Months During Transition to Virgin Hotel

As we were the first to report via the Twitters, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will close entirely for four months next year as it transitions to Virgin Hotel Las Vegas.

Specifics of the hotel’s rebrand were shared with hundreds of employees on Dec. 19, 2018.

Hard Rock’s overhaul will start around Labor Day of 2019 and will last a total of eight months. The full closure will happen during the last four months of that renovation window.

Virgin Hotel Las Vegas will debut in the early part of 2020.https://vitalvegas.com/

Not that many current customers to begin with, I suppose. I know we have @smartone here.
Smae thing when SLS took over and rebranded Sahara.
Why didn't they want to keep the old Sahara's "loyal" customers?

I guess they couldn't figure out how to close during the summer. Shut locals out of promotions so the place is pretty empty on the weekdays. They have a long way to go without any incentives to bring in business.
