I was reading articles about a couple of new craps games that might make their way to the floor. Like the next step of bubble craps. Roll to Win is supposed to be at the LINQ next year

    https://ggbmagazine.com/article/roll-to-win-craps/

There was another even higher tech looking table on this site

    https://www.playusa.com/global-gaming-expo-2018/

I was curious what everyone’s thoughts were about it. I never do the math and have stood by enough players telling the pit they paid wrong, so like the concept of a computer paying me. I’ll miss the chips, but appreciate my own spot at the table without someone smashing up against you.

I think it will catch on in a big way. One dealer instead of three, and should be a higher dice roll rate. I will definitely try it out. Demonstrated at G2E, check from 4:13 onwards in the video linked below.

Ehh, I don't really like the idea. Eventually we'll just end up playing in the room without ever leaving a screen. I like the speed of craps right now.

I played something like this at Bill's Gambling Hall. It had advantages for sure. One being that you didn't have to work so hard to make sure you were being paid properly. But if I recall, it was a slower game. A stickman in a real game can tell when it's time to give the dice to the shooter. So sometimes rolls happen really quickly. But this machine game might have the same problem that the bubble craps has. Everyone has made their bets and are just staring at the countdown counter. This is particularly irritating when there is only one or two people at the table.

I saw them showing off this table at the G2E this past Oct but I didn't get to actually play on it. Definitely interesting...and colorful...and all lit up as every roll causes the winning bets to light up. I would definitely try it. BUT, I don't think it will catch on too much because you're not playing with chips in your hand. That's a big part of the love of gambling for table gamers...the feel of having chips in your hand. Without them, it's just like playing slots. We'll see how it goes.

That's honestly lame as hell lol, this is just a poor attempt by the casino to reduce staffing

But there's nothing wrong with the game now.

I want to handle cheques, I like interacting with a good crew and other players, I appreciate a game that requires I pay attention and bear some responsibility for my play, I like that players must stand. You can't handle the cards in blackjack, you can't spin the wheel in roulette. And while the game is ridiculously easy to play, I even take mild enjoyment in the fact that some find it incomprehensible.

Craps is cool, and if you don't understand that, we can still be friends and just meet later at the bar.

For the life of me, I do not understand the urge to turn everything into a video game.

There's an easy fix for this. Have a "Ready" status for each of the 10 player terminals. Unused terminals, terminals where there are no additional bets made, are flagged as ready. When players complete their bets, they press "Ready" on their terminal. The dealer then has to just see 10 "Ready" states on his/her terminal to pass the dice.
With a single player at the table making no additional bets, it could be very quick. Bubble craps could be sped up this way also.

    Currently not fan.
I too thoroughly enjoy the chip factor of the game.
When shooting the dice, its easy to forget about bets and nice when the crew reminds me about my bets to turn off/on or even to place odds.

    Machines are cheaper than people.
Take 2 dealers, 1 stick, 1 money person and 1 pit boss and replace with only 1 person.

Resort fees, parking fees, entertainment tax,....seeing a theme here yet?

I think it's inevitable that casinos move towards concepts like this. Some legacy traditional versions will always exist for craps though, and that's where I'll be ;)

Totally agree. A year or two ago I sent an email to Aruze Gaming suggesting this. I don't see why it's not a feature now. You would think the casinos would insist on it to speed up play, ie, increase profits.

Here is what I like about this version:
    • no more last minutes bets while the dice are going out
    • no complaining about missed bets by dealers
    • no more 'pros' telling me I am betting 'wrong' when they see how I am pressing on a roll
    • the display of history on the table. I know cold/hot tables are not really a thing but I will avoid a roulette table I see hitting an unusual number of 0/00 rolls on the board and I would avoid a table where there are a lot of point-7s on the board of this
    • no more complaining by people when dice hit the chips
    What I don't like
    • people losing jobs. By the way, aren't there 4 people working every table? not 3?
    • the feel of having the chips in hand while betting. I used the play the electronic roulette game they had all the time. Video screens around a real wheel that the dealers spun but all the money was handled on the screen, except buy in and pay out.
    • the high tech-ing of all table games. Getting further and further from old-school Vegas.

Another feature in keeping with bubble craps, no need to keep discipline with fixed betting. Odds bet 5/9 with even amounts; place bet 6/8 in multiples of 6; no need to keep that discipline. It should help nervous newcomers to the game.

I couldn’t tell if the dice are real or virtual. If real dice, I may try it, not a chance with virtual dice.

Any businesses main goal is to reduce head count. I for one don’t support that, but unfortunately that’s the way it is. If these are virtual dice, and not physical dice, I see this game being a flop. But then again I thought bubble craps was going to fail.
