Christmas Songs You Love

Since we have a hate thread might as well have a love thread.


My faves.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman/We Three Kings Barenaked Ladies and Sarah Mclaughlin
Any simple/traditional version of Away In The Manger
Love Aaron Neville's voice he does a great version of Let It Snow x3.
Even though mentioned in the other thread I do really like Band Aid's We are the World.

Whichever song is the absolute last one played for the season.

 

The Little Blue Bell by Brenda Lee, though I never hear it on any of the channels.

 

I don't know why, but "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses has been my favorite this season. I hadn't heard it in a long time.

"Merry Christmas From The Family" is an all-time favorite...Robert Earl Keen is one of our favorite artists.

 

Love most any Christmas songs - but Silent Night is special for me, also love Darlene Love’s ‘Christmas, Baby Please Come Home’ (not Mariah Carey’s rendition).

 

I like most of the Christmas hymns. Oh Holy Night is my favorite.
Husband and I have seen Human Nature's Christmas show in Las Vegas a few times and they do a fantastic job of singing that song in harmony and a cappella.

 

Anything by Darlene Love and the Beach Boys. Run Run Rudolf by Chuck Berry. Fast song by the Ronettes ,forget the name. Just about all of the "classics" by various artists and Dino"s Christmas CD.

 

I agree with bnlphan and ronc. The best Christmas song ever....

 

I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas--Yogi Yorgesson or perhaps that Yogi Yogesson Classic 'Yingle Bells'

So this made the top of my list last year and is still holding there early in the season this year. I can not see it being knovked off for the forseable future.

I also want to echo @ardee about Oh Holy Night being my favorite. I get chicken skin when a local artist here in Hawaii sings it. His professional name is Willie K. But I like it in all versions.

And I didn't know Human Nature had a Christmas show and sings that song. We should have seen them last year when we were in Vegas during Christmas. I guess I can only hope they will be around next year!

 

I also love O Holy Night and I also really like Silent Night.

Two songs top my list, one old, one rather new.
Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby and David Bowie is the best.
The second is, It must of been ol' Santa Claus by Harry Connick Jr.

 

Jazzed up Silent Night.

 

An old alt-headbanger tune, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus So I Blew Him Away."

 

Anything from Mariah's Christmas album. It's not Christmas until that's playing. Also a few versions of "This Christmas" (including the Donny Hathaway version of course) and The Temptations "Silent Night" (the only version that matters).

 

What does it for me is. ..White Christmas by Bing Crosby.....the song and the movie. Seeing those soldiers at the beginning of the movie going to the front lines at Christmas reminds me of the times I was deployed and not home for Christmas. Something never forgotten.
