I’m guessing this has been discussed before but I was unable to search for it so I hope you’ll be willing to share experiences with me. My wife and I have an upcoming trip to The Orleans, two days comped on my account and two days comped on my wife’s card. With the recent changes to the B Connected program I’m wondering if we’d be better off both playing on my card. I am Sapphire so I earn points but my wife is Ruby with no real hope of achieving Sapphire on this trip. Is there a problem with both of us playing on my card? Will we be breaking any rules and therefore risk forfeiting a jackpot if she is using my card. What else might we be giving up as a result of in essence forfeiting her account?

I’m pretty sure it’s officially against the rules somewhere down in the fine print of the players clubs rules. But it’s not an uncommon thing to have a husband and wife playing on a card. You really run afoul if you were forming a syndicate of players where you were grinding out play among many many people to take advantage of promotions that might be technically a positive return. Basically don’t abuse it and you’re probably ok.

In general it's not a big deal. But when playing free play, the person whose name is on the card should play it. I want to say I read somewhere once that a casino took away a jackpot because they were playing on another accounts' free play. I don't recall if that was a husband/wife scenario, but I wouldn't chance it. Normally, though, if you get as handpay, just pull the card out before they get there. You'll still get paid.

If you are already sapphire, and will remain so for next year, can you both play on her card instead and get her to reach sapphire so she can start earning points also? Also, you may be risking losing a couple nights of comped rooms or other comps in the future if your wife doesn't play on her card at all. Even remaining Ruby, she might still get comp offers in the future if there is play on her card. So, whichever is best for you, good luck on your trip.

First off, comps are based on play, not color of our card.

If you each are getting offers, then great.

If putting all the play on one card gets even better offers, then go that route. This assume you always travel together.

Yep you want to make sure the correct person is playing the free play. That issue was at the Plaza when a guy used his girlfriend's card for the lose $500 get $500 rebate in FP if I remember right. It wasn't honored because she didn't play it. But I could see the same happening on FP if it was a handpay.

I’ve won jackpots using other people’s freeplay and other people’s cards. Not a big deal at all. Happens all the time.

I'm wondering, @MMacys1, how did you win a jackpot using someone else's freeplay?
Was it transferable to your own account at the player's desk?
What about showing ID to collect and deal with taxes? Just interested in the logistics of how you were able to do this.

There are only a handful of reasons a casino has not to pay you - and using someone else’s players card isn’t one of them. The ones I’m aware of are:

    - player not 21
    - machine malfunction
    - somehow cheating (I’m not talking about a using a video poker cheat sheet, I mean tampering with the machine)
    - if you are self banned from the casino (due to a gambling problem - this reason is bs)
    - possibly if you are trespassing (not sure).

    Any others?

You have just admitted to committing a crime, either theft or fraud depending on whether the other person is willing to go to jail with you.

My 2 cents... use your card for the nights you are on your offer and use hers for nights you are on hers. As mentioned, comps are based on play and not tier level. If you use your card all the way through you will most likely keep your offers coming but it will show a no play on her part and offers most likely will disappear.
As for playing on someone else's card, I can't see that being a problem (outside of maybe freeplay as mentioned). If it was an issue I figure there would be something preventing from having 2 cards being used in 2 different machines at the same time (as in you wouldn't accumulate points for both, etc.) and this isn't the case. Also, what if someone sat at a machine without a players card and didn't notice that the previous player left their card in the machine... then hits a jackpot. I would be fairly certain they would get paid. You don't need a players card to win a jackpot so it won't matter who's card is in the machine. At least that's what I think :)

Using someone elses card is one thing.

Playing someone elses freeplay is another. I often use my wifes freeplay. I tend to play some, then get a tito and play somewhere else - quickly.

I never play her FP all the way through on one machine. Too often some host wants to come along and say hello.

If you win on someone elses card - no big deal, been there many times.

Wining while using FP - they really have a case. it is NOT YOUR FREEPLAY.

The Mrs. And I almost always play on one card, usually mine. She has hit jackpots on my card a few times with no issue. In Vegas I've had more than 1 host encourage us to play on just my card to maximize offers.

If push comes to shove, then you would just say "oops I picked up the wrong card".
no different than if a stranger left their card in the machine and you played on it.
in the case of a hand pay or big jackpot, when the eye in the sky looks at it, they will look at who put the money in and who pushed the button.

As to handpays... I always take out the card in the slot and put it and my Drivers LIc on the machine and wait for the slot person. If the card was not mine, that goes in my pocket, and mine goes on the machine.

Consider yourself lucky on the freeplay part.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. My buddy plays on my card when he is out there with me. One of the last times, we were playing side by side and a "hospitality host" stopped by to introduce herself to him. We fessed up that he was playing on my card and she didn't seem to care.

I know some have mentioned free play, I can't speak of that. I've had a hand pay playing on my wife's card and she's had a hand pay playing on my card. No problem. This was playing VP at Boyd and MGM properties.
