    My Trip Report

For a whole host of personal reasons (deployment overseas, impending birth of first child, etc) this will almost certainly be my last trip to Vegas for several years. With my wife’s blessing, I have decided to get it all out of my system with 10 (ten) full days.

I did a semi-live trip report earlier this year (https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/almost-live-trip-report-2-3-8.148581/) and wanted to follow up with another now that I semi-know what I’m doing. I’ve been conscientiously studying the works of my VMB hero @tdhoier to prepare. And while I’m too old/married/routinely-drug-tested to fully replicate his level of debauchery, I’ll try to make this as interesting as possible. If nothing else, there will be pictures.

Unlike last time, I’m leaving from America, so it should be a short, civilized process to get to Las Vegas. The Wingtips Lounge (Priority Pass) in terminal 4 at JFK is delightful. Self-serve booze and breakfast.

Flying the Saturday after Thanksgiving is a pleasure. It’s deserted here, or at least as deserted as JFK gets.

Picks for today’s games that I’ll miss during the flight are in. Now nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the friendly skies. See you in a few hours in Vegas.

Probably the last fruit I’ll eat for a while. Not the last whiskey.

Good luck! I like the GT and sUCkLA picks. I'd even consider a money line bet on the Bruins.

Following along and rooting for you. I will be joining you and doing a TR myself as of Wednesday! Funny about the fruit. I do the same thing the day before and the day of Vegas. I go out of my way to put fruits and veggies in my body because once I land it's mostly beer, meat, and starches for the duration.

Enjoy the trip. I don’t know what I’d do if my wife gave me a hall pass to Vegas for 10 days with no kids!!!!

Arrived at Mandalay Bay where I’m staying for the first night. I booked through the Luxury Hotels program with my Chase Saphire Reserve (I highly recommend if you’re in the market for a credit card) and got an upgrade.

    Not a bad view.

The reservation came with early check in and late checkout, $100 resort credit and $50 breakfast credit. The room only cost $95. I feel like a winner already.

I got checked in and ran to the sports book to get my bets in for the afternoon games.

Then I realized that I haven’t eaten anything but that fruit and some pretzels, so I went in search of a place to blow some resort credits. I settled on Red Square, which has always intrigued me.

The pierogis were $8 for happy hour and fine. The martini was more expensive and better.

Stopped back up at the room. I go to bed early anyway, so with the time change I’m dragging, but I’m a big boy and gonna rally. (A little).

Interesting note: the Ceasars Total Rewards app knew the second I landed in Vegas and started sending me recommendations and offers. I’m checked into a room at an MGM property and their app doesn’t even acknowledge my existence.

Also, I’ve made a not-insignificant amount of sports/horse wagers already at the Sportsbook here, but MgM properties won’t swipe your card, so as far as they know I haven’t gambled at all. That’s annoying. Luckily, I won’t be back any time soon, so I’m not sweating my future comps too much.

Let’s go Cavs, Wizards, and A&M!

That’s a heavy pour on the vodka. I owe Travel Fanboy (formerly Vegas Fanboy) for the recommendation of the Luxury hotels program and of Skyfall. If you don’t know his podcast, I recommend it.

This is a good view. It’s not 26 degrees outside. My bets are all winning (except for the Clemson/SC under, which is a disaster.) Life is good.
