How about The V? That would complement The D nicely.

'18 Fremont' would be too close to the existing 'Fremont' casino, plus The Man might think having eighteen in the name might encourage underage drinking/gambling/etc.

I also thought 'Grandissimo' would have been a good name for their players' club card rather than the dull 'One' it ended up as.

I assume Boyd owns the rights to 'Stardust' and wouldn't give them up cheaply, so that's not going to happen.

Sticking with 'Las Vegas Club' might work as the original property has been closed so long that any bad reviews online will have withered on the vine. I shall vote for that.

I believe a potential new name was mentioned on the Five Hundy podcast a while back, with the suggestion that the Stevens Corp had bought the web address for it, it was some meaningless name that was not memorable enough for me to remember.

    Not.
We can still complain about stingy players club benefits, bad VP pay tables, and slot payback percentages.

I don't give a {south end of a rat moving north} what name they put on it! I want to see a decent slot selection, full-pay VP, and frequent drink service!

Oh, another Sigma Derby table would be nice! :)

Because its a new resort he has to pay off.

But the "Fee Palace" has a certain ring to it. Very on trend.

If they're going for a pretentious and upscale vibe: The Montecito would be perfect.

Along these lines, my suggestion for 18 Fremont (posted here some time ago): Golden Gate.

It's an iconic name they already own (to the extent one can capitalize on that phrase). The old GG and the new place would truly form a gate to Fremont Street. The original GG would remain, as the classic, with a separate front desk, but both units would be managed as a single entity. Do they really want to manage the casino and 122 rooms at the old GG as a separate thing from the big thing they're building literally 50 feet away? Whatever they call it, I think the answer is probably no. So why not make it simple and just use the old name.

I did a Google search for casino names and one of the first links was to a Casino Name Generator. I am not going to link it, but some of the names that came up....

    The Excelsior
    The Gate Casino
    The Elysium Casino
    The Luna Casino
    The Boulevard
    The Nova
    The Grand Plaza
    The Ember Palm Casino
    The Indigo Greyhound Casino
    The Silk Flame Casino

Each time you refresh the page you get more suggestions. Seems as good as any method to dig up a name. I hope it is not Grandissimo. That name seems dated. Reminds me of the Fonz in the 70s..."Correctamundo",

The Grand Plaza seems like a good choice. You chould piss off the Plaza and Downtown Grand all in one shot!

Even if they don't name it the same, running it as one thing makes sense. The walk from the front desk of the new place, to existing Golden Gate rooms, will still be way shorter than a lot of front-desk-to-room walks at most Strip properties. Then they can put slot machines in the front desk area of the Golden Gate. Or a shrimp cocktail emporium with a piano!

That name generator doesn't work very well. Those names suck. IMHO of course.:D

Interesting thought -- or create a bridge across Fremont, like at DTG, and run it all as one property (and possibly gut the old rooms @ current GG and make it all suite/boutique tower).
Then we could have the bridge, slotzilla, and the stage all intersecting to create a stunning visual near the Plaza :haha:

This is a good option, or my suggestion, Bag, if this is becomes the third iteration of their current two properties.

Hope they do something different with this property than the first floor of The D replicated at Golden Gate, I still go to the second floor of The D for Vue Bar and Horse Racing, sans 110 decibel mostly bad music downstairs. They can compete for more upscale business from Golden Nugget if they offer great rooms, amenities and customer service. Leaving their other two properties as is will allow this group to cater to the broadest range of downtown visitors / gamblers and provide something for everyone.

There have been nice room updates at various downtown properties (The Cal, Plaza, Golden Gate, The D) but the general areas of these properties are basically the same. Derek has more information in terms of what will likely work downtown, and perhaps there is not enough demand to try for a better Golden Nugget. I can't see the demand for a third property replicating what they do at The D / Golden Gate.

I'm OK with 18 Fremont. Las Vegas Club was run down over their final several years of existence, and that name has been tarnished, and the previous offerings (Overland Hotel followed by Frank Donovan's Chatterbox Club and Talk of the Town Bar) really don't work either, though it would be cool for The Pretenders to open the joint if they went with the latter. The Silver Palace is the best possibility among the other two properties demolished (Mermaids and Glitter Gulch).
