Agreed. It opened in 2004 and I went a few months after opening. In 14 years, that was my only visit and I live just across the bay. Never got familiar with CW service or paytables because I wasn't there long enough. I dropped $20 betting single line, single credit on a 25 cent 3 reel in about 2 minutes. I left. Some have said it's better, but that experience poisoned the place for me. They would have to do better in LV.

It hasn’t gotten any better. 99.11% DB at the $10 level . 98.98%DDB $5 , 98.91% Airport Dueces .50 cent , 97.87% DDB .50 cent and 98.48% job .25 cent level which I couldn’t find last time not that I was there long. $350 a night room rate I recently checked. I was actually thinking of just a quick night getaway. I just paid $239.00 for 3 nights at the Orleans and round trip airfare from Orlando. What was I thinking ? I rather go to Vegas twice a year than visit that place. The VP is appalling .

The steak joint in HR Tampa is out of this world though. Had without a doubt one of, if not the best, steak I've ever eaten there.

They also have Sic Bo, a dying game, but one I enjoy throwing $20 down to see what happens.

I agree however, on their paytables and the general "cost" of all things there.

I did a search to see if this was already posted, and didn’t see anything, so, here goes....

According to Vital Vegas, Hard Rock International is in the due diligence phase with Blackstone Group, which is where the property puts all its cards on the table for the buyer to see, so to speak.

It may even be re-branded as a Hard Rock, which I do not love.

I love the chic, sexy, urban vibe of the Cosmopolitan. Because it’s the Cosmopolitan! I hate to think of what a re-branding would do to the overall feel of the property. If any of this even pans out.

Would the property change much, besides signage? Would room prices rise or drop? So many things to consider.

    Discuss...

I'm about as knowledgeable on the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as anyone here on VMB, but as has been previously noted, that property was very much at arms length with parent organization. The Vegas property's owner, Brookfield paid some licensing fees for the use of the name, but my understanding is that's about it.

It does appear that more than a few VMBers visit some of the Hard Rock properties across the country and hopefully will share some comments on the possible Cosmo purchase.

I have been going to the HR in Hollywood FL for a couple years now. Its alright. I would compare it to Mandalay Bay. With all the recent changes and upgrades at Cosmo, I cannot imagine a big overhaul even if HR buys it

Last year I was at the Cosmo and the dealer told me how hard rock was interested and how the staff hates the management there at that time

I have heard similar stories from various deals on multiple properties. Anyone know how reliable information gets sifted down so far? Has to be more than gossiping as the source is correct more times than not.

Cosmopolitan is everything Hard Rock has everything lacks but aspires to achieve!
Trendy and Swanky ....everything that makes people flock there to empty their wallets!
The only thing missing from the conversion is the cloud of d0uche-ey AXE pumped in casino fragrance.
If Hard Rock buys it that would kind of ruin it for me.

I really have no opinion on this matter, but FYI, the rumor is that Hard Rock International, not the Axe-spray infused Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas owners, would acquire Cosmo

People crap on the Hard Rock in SoFla all the time and I don't get it. It's a very nice and fun casino. It's not Vegas for a couple obvious reasons (can't walk to other casinos, booze isn't free) but if you put the Hard Rock Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip it would absolutely compete - ESPECIALLY after the massive addition about to open. The new guitar tower and a giant new addition to the casino plus a big dining and entertainment area to replace the one they knocked down. I can't wait.

They also have a few other casinos, the only other one I've been to is the Coconut Creek Casino (the Coco) about 20-25 min north of the Hard Rock. I love it over there. I've played a couple poker tournaments there and go every so often with colleagues. It is just as nice as the Hard Rock, but a bit smaller. Still a casino that could compete on the Strip. Similar looking inside to Cromwell but probably 4x the size.

Gambling-wise, I play a lot less locally than I do in Vegas so I have a smaller sample size. Having said that, I haven't noticed any major difference in terms of my luck. My biggest slot win ever (a major for $265 on Kronos) was at the Hard Rock SoFla and nearly every time I've played slots at the Coco I've at least broken even.

As a South Florida resident who frequents the Seminole casinos decently often: have no fear. In my personal opinion at least, making the Cosmo more like the Seminole casinos would be a positive in a lot of ways.

    Oh! Thank Goodness!
    There is a difference.
Maybe I should give the HR Casino another chance though.

As stated numerous times by myself and others, HR Tampa is gifted of being the only game in town and fuck their players every chance they get with shitty pay tables, over priced drinks, and a comp system that's laughable at best.

I'd hate to see them take over Cosmo.

As one who grew into young adulthood when the Hard Rock brand came into being and spread it's wings - and being a likely direct "mark" for what their brand is selling - I couldn't agree with you more - especially that first line.

I much prefer the Marriott/Autograph collection name behind the hotel and that reaching to be a truly high end place as opposed to the HR brand which always fell short (and not the least was customer service). I'm not one to buy into HR taking over Cosmo without seeing substantial proof that they can do it without cheapening the experience. I think being realistic I would worry if ANYONE else took over Cosmo because that "thing" they have going works really well and messing with a winning formula is risky in any case.

Knowing the way Vegas changes, I really treasure the opportunity I had to stay here. Once in a lifetime. Like "making marriages even more rock solid" kinda stuff. Priceless, really. So I'll get defensive along with everyone else who loves the place, because it's reeeeeeallllllyyy easy to get attached to, and thus want to preserve and defend.....

From working in the gaming industry, there is so much gossip amongst departments and employees!! It's absurd! That's the one reason I'm glad to be out. Dealers will talk (as will everyone else), but I wouldn't take it all at face value.

I'm just going to wait and see.

Would hate it if the Cosmo changes hands and loses all it's lustre and uniqueness. I'm lucky I get to visit in a few days, and this time around I'm definitely taking pictures of that sitting area with all the pictures of musicians and bands. One of the my favourite spots in all of Vegas to just sit and relax.
