If you like craft beer and German food go to Lakefront Brewery. It’s in river west. And despite its name it’s not on lake. But is on the river and has a nice view.

@gailtherese Harley Davidson museum which is very close to Pot. Calatrova Art Museum which is on the lake.

Wade's House of Prime for a pricey, fancy meal.
    https://www.wardshouseofprime.com/menu/

Water Street and 3rd St downtown are packed with bars.

For German- Mader's on Old World Third Street and across the street is the Usingers factory and outlet store. Best sausage you will ever find.

The brand new FiServ arena just opened. Bucks play their home games there, plus it's turning into quite a concert venue.

I limited my suggestions to downtown areas which are very close to Pot

Miller brewery tour. Also fairly close.

I am usually not one of *those* people, but I've been to Lakefront Brewery twice, and it is far from convenient to get to. Narrow streets, lots of apartment traffic and no discernible parking will likely to prevent my return.

Sprecher Brewery is much easier to navigate and is one of the first micro-breweries in the area.

To the OP... your question is similar to "What should I do in Downtown Las Vegas?". If you narrow it down a bit, you'll get some better answers. What day will you be in town? Do you like sports? Shopping? Arts? Drinking? What types of foods and price ranges?

Why is that? Is it too far from Potawatomi? Sounds like there are plenty of breweries in this city!

I’ll be there on a Sunday and Monday night. I’m liking the suggestions I am getting! No, not there for shopping or fine dining. Just looking for unique or eclectic places to check out! Will look into some of your suggestions; let me know if you think of anything else!

    MY PICKS
    In Downtown MKE area
    Pabst Mansion
    Pabst Tap Room
    Safe House
    Milwaukee Public Market
    Milwaukee Chop House
    Sobelmans !

Not near downtown, but an experience worth trying at least once if you have a healthy heart and maybe a designated driver.:
Take a brewery tour at Sprecher then at the end of the block.......
    Sollys Grille
Burgers served in an authentic u-shaped style diner and everything is grilled right in front of you.
The burgers are literally SWIMMING in butter.
    butter from Keil Wisconsin
The waitresses and damn near all the staff are original too.
The old ladies are amazing...they don't write their orders down!

I grew up in Milwaukee. Also, if you like beer, try Spotted Cow! The best! I will be getting some in 2 weeks.
You can not go there and NOT have frozen custard, either from Leon's on the south side, near St Luke's Hospital, or Culver's or Kopp's.
(Leon's is open year-round. Been around since the 1940's or so)

    https://spoonuniversity.com/lifestyle/7-best-places-try-frozen-custard-wisconsin

Leave it to Wisconsin, a state with more than 1 million dairy cows, to take its frozen desserts seriously. Wisconsin custard, which is silkier and denser than ice cream, lures thousands of fans anytime the weather warms.

“The addition of egg yolks to frozen custard is what makes it unique,” says Cary Frye, vice president, regulatory and scientific affairs for the International Ice Cream Association. “Legally, frozen custard must contain at least 1.4 percent egg yolk by weight, but some contain more, along with the minimum of 10 percent milkfat. The egg yolks act as a natural emulsifier, imparting a creamier, rich texture.”

Nowhere is this satiny treat more prevalent than in Wisconsin, which has been called the unofficial custard capital of the world. Milwaukee alone reportedly boasts the highest concentration of frozen custard shops on the planet, despite the fact that New York was the city where the dessert was first sold commercially in the United States, back in 1919.

Flavor options were once strictly limited to classic vanilla and chocolate, but Kopp’s shook up Wisconsin’s frozen custard scene in 1960 by boldly introducing a “flavor of the day” concept that soon took off around the state. These days, devotees can stick with the old standbys or sink their spoon into one of the newfangled flavors dreamed up at dozens of different frozen-custard operations around the state ( Leon’s actually offers butter pecan on a daily basis, in addition to a special flavor of the day). The demand is such that even seasonal stands stay open well into the autumn, with devotees lining up to indulge in the state tradition.

Btw, POT casino is on 16th Street, under the viaduct.
I grew up less than 4 miles from it.
It has always been too smokey for me.

You are also close to "the Domes", 3 domes with flowers, plants, floral, etc...

Comet cafe is a great dive type bar restaurant. Awesome open face meatloaf and fried turkey. Check out the pfister. It’s a great old classic hotel in downtown. Milwaukee chop house I second. Also Usinger’s sausages. Loved going to potowatomi

I forgot to add Historic 3rd Ward Milwaukee is very charming! Lots of interesting stuff to see, buy, drink and eat!

For custard, there’s also Gillie’s and Oscar’s too. But neither are near downtown or Potowotomi.

Do yourself a favor...DEFINITELY find a Kopps for the flavor of the day PLUS a cheeseburger and onion rings! You will not be disappointed.
While you are at it...find a Danish Kringle shoppe!

WOW I can’t believe all the great feedback I am getting RE Milwaukee - I may not have much time for gambling at Potawatomi! I have already checked out many of these suggestions. I will definitely search out a Kringle shoppe - as my “roots” are Danish on my mother’s side - thanks thammer!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Going to the Pabst mansion for sure! I definitely need more time in Milwaukee; hoping I like Potawatomi and can go back next spring/summer to take in so much more Milwaukee has to offer!
