I was chatting with my wife about 7* status. and I was thinking that it would be cool to try and make 7*, (plan would be to do 10x days of 5000TC plus a tiny bit more)

how much bankroll would I need to do this? also if I did this in 10 consecutive days (or maybe 2 trips of 5 days each) would that be enough action to qualify for a host? (was thinking $50,000 coin in on high limit VP per day)

I think that 7* has a lot of prestige that comes with it, plus all the other benefits make it feel worth it. I know its not cost effective to do, but I think it would be a fun challenge

What’s your VP experience? Are you just thinking about it or are you already a serious VP player?

I got to 7 stars playing VP and you need good game selection and decent luck.

medium VP experience, but I would probably play a 9/6 JoB machine at Ceasars palace

    Given 9/6 JoB is $25 a point, I'm not sure I would.

Bankroll is definitely gonna game/denomination/line dependent.

The lowest necessary bankroll option would probably be the 100 line 9/5 JoB quarter game at PHo on the Strip. If you bet all 100 of the lines (not necessary though), you could knock out a 5000 TC day in roughly an hour.

Total bankroll? Your expected loss is $7750. A very safe bankroll in this scenario, I'd think would be to prepare to go Royalless on the endeavor and assume you preform average on everything else. But more likely, you'll go without a dealt quad which is worth $3125. But being 10 Royals below average (very unlikely), that's an extra $10,000. So then ~$17,750 would be a fairly conservative bankroll, imo.

And if you play less lines for more "rounds" that will also reduce your variance.

@tednancy, any thoughts to add? Is this a too conservative estimate for 100 line? I also assume 5000 TC days will get a host's attention on VP right?

Another forum I follow has a long analysis of the best places to earn 7 Stars on VP. Based on that, it seems like another option for what you want in Vegas might be the $1 3/5/10 Play 9/5 JoB machine with Super Double Times Pay (7 coins max) at Planet Hollywood. Expected loss to Seven Stars is $5,250. I'm not a VP math genius like Tring, but I expect the variance would be significantly higher than the 100-play 9/5 quarter game he talked about above.

In Vegas, the 9/5 quarter game at PH is the way to go. Don’t play the full 100-play. Go 20-play each day. You can do it under $10k. It requires 10 days of play. Expect at least one day down over 4k and of course a few winning days. Good luck.

If the primary goal is to make 7*, then I'll say the same thing I do every time this comes up... fly to Lake Tahoe, don't do it in Vegas. The difference in expected loss would more than pay for a few trips to Tahoe. Also, the 7* benefits are easily worth $2300 in my opinion, but they're definitely not worth $7750.

$17,750 sounds like plenty of bankroll, but I don't really play much 9/5 JOB. I've been down $10k playing 50 line 9/6 JOB for 50c credits (after ~$200k coin in), so I suppose it's possible you'd bust out before reaching $500k coin in. That's my single worst session over many millions of hands though, so I'd be pretty shocked if it happened twice in a row. I might go with 50 line quarters just to be safe if bankroll was a concern...

Yeah variance is a lot higher unfortunately. In terms of variance numbers is about 10 bet units higher than DDB. Very close to Super DDB.

Also 0.1173% of the return is devoted to the "unicorn" (20X dealt Royal Flush). But odds of hitting that is only 1 in 9,746,100 "rounds" of play.

Oh man. A 20x Royal Flush would be so amazing!

How much are you willing to "spend"?

IMHO, 5000TC days on a machine are no easy chore. You must either 1) play at a level that, if you have a run of bad luck, could cost you a lot, or 2)spend a LOT of time at the VP machine, in which it becomes more like work.

Having been 7* for the past three years, I would say that you would need $25,000 and up as a bankroll. There is a point nowadays, since CET took away the Aspiration levels, where you must figure out if you're "all in".

After your first 5000TC day, you'll have a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

Sorry if I sound like a "Debbie Downer", but there are two sides to every coin.

Plus, that's the gambling bankroll ONLY. How much does it cost you and your wife to travel to a CET casino 10 days a year? I live in California, where it's relatively "cheap" to get to Las Vegas, and a 4 hour drive to Reno/Tahoe. Last year my travel expenses were $1500 for airfare, plus car rental, host gifts, etc.

However, if you strategize properly, the benefits CAN be outstanding.

Here is my 2017 year end review. It doesn't quite detail my bankroll or losses (and I had two $10,000 jackpots last year), but it does show the benefits if you plan properly.

Don't also forget about TC add ons they do every so often. That is you can get up to 25,000TCs if you earn 50,000 TC in a month (I think it was February last year). This is a nice bonus as is the first quest they did in Q-1 last year. The first year we did this we had an unreal run at Caesars 2x. This year we lost more than we wanted but are at 200,000 points and not going to reach 250000 so a bit of a waste, but we enjoy our pastime........Good Luck and keep an eye on promotions.......Rick

Definitely take advantage of the promotions if you can. I planned two of my three trips around multiple promotions this year. The first to Tahoe and Reno in Jan / Feb, when they had double TC (up to a limit) in Feb plus 1,000 TC a night if you paid $20/nt or more. The latter promo might be tough if you get everything comped, but you could always see if there's a suite you can upgrade to that would qualify.

Then in June they had double TC again, although this time they did not double your daily bonuses (they did in February, which meant my 1,000 TC day netted me 4,000 TC in Feb vs. only 3,000 TC in June). Last month they had a promo for 750 TC per paid night.

Thanks to promos and bonuses, I'm at 17k TC even though I only earned about 4 - 4.5k in gaming (excluding daily bonuses). I'd love to hit 25k for free DL entry, but would need another generous promotion to get there.

And you could always go for it at Caesars Windsor, where the exchange rate is your friend.

Another of our ways of getting more for less. I just hope CW stays a Caesars. Was talking to a host in VIP yesterday and there are concerns, we would hate to lose CW as our "home" base.

Interesting thought. But any decent vp there that can get a decent amount of volume in for $10 a TC? 9/5 JoB is already minimum $7750 theo. 8/5 JoB would be $13,500 minimum theo. A player is better off going to Tahoe anyway to grind 9/6 JoB for full points ($2300 theo).

All that is true, but IMHO, you have to add the expense of getting to Tahoe. For people like me on the Left Coast, it's just a 4 hour car trip . . . .

Actually in the high limit area there is $1/2/5 8/6 JOB for C$10/point so take away the $$ for a ticket it is close to break even with 9/5. I love Tahoe so would rather be there but just wanted to set this straight.......Rick
