Exactly my feelings. Love taking pics of all 5 though.

I also hate when you have 4 to the royal and then hit a straight!

 

I have skipped by this post many times - figuring we all miss it often by just one.

Then, I could not figure out why it was not a Royal. It took way too long for me.

 

Had to do a double take as it wasn't obvious at first that you did NOT have a royal.

 

Of the same color is even worse. Unless you're playing the rare game "Red and Black DDB" where it pays 200 instead of 20.

 

The only straight flush I've gotten in Vegas was when I was dealt K, Q, J, & 10 of diamonds and then got the 9. Since it was JOB, it was the second best payoff. But it was still a major let down.

 

This was a lucky draw, straight, straight flush and royal flush. December 30th of 2017. Almost time to do it again.

You'll average 47 of them for every royal. Get used to it. After many many royals, getting these misses still makes me grit my teeth and growl.

 

Well, you'll have 47 misses (actually 46) for every royal flush when you draw holding four to a royal. But the OP drew twice when holding three to a royal and once when holding just two to a royal. So an interesting stat would be how many four to the royals can you expect in total per every actual royal? Is it 100, or 1000, or ??? It must be a lot, because if casinos paid for near misses we'd all be rich.

 

It depends on player strategy a bit, but if one plays optimal 9/6 JoB, it's about 1 in 88 four to a Royal near-misses for every actual royal.

And it's only 8% less likely to happen than a getting a quad in 9/6 JoB. Counting all 4 to a Royal misses is a a frustrating exercise. I take pics of all my quads, but not all 4 to a Royal misses. That's nearly double the work!

Tring, if this is true, I am waaay overdue for a RF. We just got back from our week long Vegas trip. After 3 or 4 days of counting 10 or more 4 TTR's per day, I stopped counting. I play DDB and it seems to happen to me more than my fair share, but who doesn't think that!

 

Blah. But this is just an average. The unluckiest 5% should see 3 times as many 4 to a Royal misses before they actually get the Royal. I'm sure I was one card off of a Royal hundreds of times during my 35 month royal drought.
