the Ponca tribe of Nebraska has received approval from Bureau of Indian Affairs for their casino at Carter Lake Iowa. Nebraska and Iowa officials are of course trying to legally stop the opening. They contend that the tribe purchased the land and it is not sovereign land to the tribe.
Only 9000 square feet and 200 slots but looking to expand to 25,000 square feet.
Personally, I welcome the competion to Ameristar and Harrahs Coucil Bluffs locations. The 3 current casinos in the Bluffs are at the bottom of the heap in payback percentage of all Iowa casinos.
Good luck to the Prarie Flower!

Ameristar and Horseshoe are always in the top three for revenue along with Prairie Meadows. For as quiet as Harrahs is, it makes quite a bit compared to other Iowa casinos.

In revenue Ameristar and Horseshoe are at the top! Payback percentages for them is just about on the bottom. Revenue and payback percentages are totally different!

It's supposed to really truly open this morning, despite active court challenges.

They have TV ads in heavy rotation and billboards in the city.

Actually, I'm considering driving down there over lunch. It's a quick trip on the Sorensen/Storz Parkway/Expressway. I'm expecting a good crowd until the novelty wears off, at least. I figure that any more competition in this market is a Very Good Thing!

There's been some massive "Vegas Style" :) exaggeration on both sides of the issue here. They are advertising the place as "Abbott Drive and Avenue H" but in actuality it's several blocks west of Abbott (the main four-lane road from downtown to the airport). Opponents have been saying "right next door to the Open Door Mission" (homeless shelter) but ODM is in fact close to a mile away.

If they get some tables specifically craps, and it gets some good dining options then I may be interested. Until then I will continue to go to Harrahs or Ameristar.

Staying at Harrah’s the next couple of nights. Thinking of just stopping over at Prarie Flower for a short bit. Will report back if anything to report.

Harrah’s busy but certainly not packed by any means. Pocketing any winnings was impossible. One of our worst gaming trips to Harrah’s. I guess the odds of probability set in, last few trips had been decent. For “hoppin” they did still have the bubble craps!

Sunday morning stop over at the new Prarie Flower! Put the addy into GPS and led us right to it, no issues or “detours” seems Omaha always has detours! parking was not an issue upon arrival. Maybe 50 folks present since they only have 200 slots. Stayed an hour, played 4 or 5 machines and had decent luck. Put a hundred into first machine and did not need to dig for anymore. Upon leaving, cashed out $214. Happy about winning. Enjoyed a Bloody Mary that was tasty.

By the time we were leaving it did state to get busy. Machines getting harder to get on. I worry if it starts to fill in an evening or anytime really, smoke may be overwhelming. We will hope not. Parking lot was pretty full within the short hour we stayed.

I will return and play again. Need to be mindful of the time of day to avoid the crowds.
