We only went in to play $10 freeplay. This was at noon. We were able to park just about first row in front by the front doors. This was never the case before, escpecially at noon. Was able to use the kiosk without waiting in line. This also was never the case before.

Ha! I resemble that remark. :D

I was at Gold Coast the latter part of Sept, can't remember if on Tuesday or YAH day. I was having lunch buffet and you could have fired a cannon through the place and not hit anyone. Maybe I just missed the crowd? No matter … no line, no wait, more for me. :feedme:

Just got back after spending the 11th - 16th there. It seemed to be a little less crowded than past October trips.

I was there Saturday(13th) and left Saturday(20th) of this past week and the both weekend days were very busy. Weekdays weren't as busy, but that is to be expected. I thought there were no more free buffets for the Seniors, but it is a pick as one of the mystery options. It's now also good for dinners Wednesday thru Friday, where as before it was only breakfast and lunch. We used ours on the Steak and Shrimp buffet.

I work out of town on projects, but when I am home I do the same thing in terms of rounding at the various casinos to pick up the free play (for my wife and I). I keep pretty good track and over the last few years we collect just over 100% of the free money total.

I'm not clear on the card and point changes Boyd made. I just received the same 3 night comp offers I've received the past several years. I've always been a ruby card holder, so if someone can bring me up to speed, I'd appreciate it.

The reduced play (especially on weekdays) shows that my fellow locals are not totally brain dead. After Boyd decimated the Bconnected program, the video poker players have chosen to play elsewhere. Great!!

Out of curiosity, I checked the Boyd Gaming stock (BYD) price a few minutes ago.

Right now it is approximately $25 per share. Three months ago it was approximately $35 per share.

The price to earnings ratio looks good at about 17/1.

I am one of those longtime customers who is barely sapphire, and will be negatively effected by the changes. However, I may have been “overpaid” with comps over the last 15 years. If they can replace me with a customer who plays Wheel of Fortune, video keno, or penny slots, their profit will rise.

It won’t surprise me if Boyd increases profits over the next 12 months, and the stock rises accordingly.

    Just one point of view.

This about everything Vegas. After the recession it was a penny party for us low rollers, easy room comps, ten dollars food here, ten dollars free play there. But when things started picking up: resort fees, special ‘casino’ room rates, tighten the drinks, and bring on the 6:5 BJ and triple zero roulette crowd. If you want a fair shake you’re going to have to pay for admission.

Maybe we should all take the money that we stopped spending at Boyd's and invest in gaming stocks.

Ruby no longer earns points. You can play for tier points to get you up to the next level card which will then earn points. It's also very vague on how many points equal 1 tier credit. VP players have to put in more than slot players. Time spent at a machine also comes into play. The whole thing is a cluster f#$%. There was tons of discussion on this when it went down a few months ago.

I stayed at Gold Coast for 7 nights in July and will say the casino was not busy whatsoever even on Friday and Saturday night. They had the Hippie Pit going at the table games and that was in my opinion a bust. I stopped by the Orleans and even they were not busy.

Very possible. Corporate CEO's have a knack for spinning financial results.

Just as an update, we were at Orleans on Thanksgiving day and it was PACKED! I was having trouble getting a drink. I sat at two bars and never had a bartender approach me. I had one CW take my order while I was sitting at a machine and waited at least 15 minutes and she never came back. I just chalked it up to being the holiday.
Oh I just remembered, there was also a college BB tournament at the Arena. That made a big difference also.
