The Margay, a small spotted cat native to Central and South America, is unusual in that they normally have single births, like humans. Also like humans, they have only two nipples.

The dark side of the moon is a myth.

Both sides of the Moon see the same amount of sunlight. Only one face of the Moon is ever seen from Earth. This is because the Moon rotates around on its own axis in exactly the same time it takes to orbit the Earth, meaning the same side is always facing the Earth. The side facing away from Earth has only been seen by the human eye from spacecraft.

The normal human being sweats around 278 gallons EACH year
This is said to be enough to fill up the gas tank of three mid-size SUVs*. Maybe sweat should be the next alternative fuel. Instead of having to pay hundreds of dollars a year to fill up your car, you could just sweat it out at the gym a few times a week. It’s just the stench you’d have to deal with. And emotions trigger changes in the chemical makeup of your sweat. In an Austrian study, participants wore pads to collect their sweat while watching scary films on the first day, and then neutral films the next day. A second group of volunteers smelled the pads and were able to recognize which pads were worn during the thriller. This fouler smelling sweat is also known as stress sweat. Some of the most putrid and profuse sweat comes from high emotion, high stress situations. Word of advice, don’t take your hot date to a scary movie without using a strong antiperspirant. And don't get too close to the jury when you're in court. THEY CAN TELL!

    * assuming you don't do any math. The average SUV gas tank is around 25 gallons, so you'd actually be topping off eleven SUVs. But it's the interwebs, so.....

A little bathroom reading never hurt anyone. Bathroom reading:
    (1) IS HISTORIC. Bathroom reading has been commonplace throughout history. Ancient Roman bath houses often contained libraries with scrolls for reading.
    (2) IS SAFE. Bathroom readers are no more likely to have hemorrhoids than non-bathroom readers.
    (3) IS HI-TECH. A 2015 study found that 90% of cell phone users admitted to reading from their phones while on the toilet.
    (4) IS MEMORABLE. An advertising company once placed various messages about George W. Bush and Al Gore in New York City public restrooms. The company's study found that 62 percent of people remembered the exact message of bathroom ads, compared to 16 percent for billboard ads.

(This was taken from Wikipedia. Each statement was referenced to an appropriate reliable source.)

In the 1930s, a 1600 square foot two-story house could be ordered from the Sears and Roebuck catalog. "Some assembly required."

For some strange reason, I always assumed Lady's Rooms were graffitti-free... who knew that there would be things like a call-out for the "asian bartender"?

That was the ladies room at the Beauty Bar downtown a few years ago.

    Yes, particularly at the nicer places, most ladies room stalls are usually graffiti-free, such as the one at the Wynn below. (I really don't know why I even took that one.) {blush}

However, at the more earthy places, you will see it.

You're more likely to see minor graffiti such as the one on the bottom photo here.

And yes, I looked, but there was no Asian bartender on duty that night. :)

Mongolia can get pretty cold—cold enough, in fact, that the ice cream sellers today can happily hawk their wares directly from cardboard containers, with no need for a freezer. The story goes that, sometime before Marco Polo returned to Italy with the delicacy, horsemen on a long journey across the Gobi desert in winter carried with them cream, in containers made of animal intestine. As they rode, the liquid cream was shaken vigorously in the sub-zero temperatures, causing the cream to freeze and be mixed all at once.

It is unknown as to whether the Mongols had Rocky Road or ate ice cream while crying after being dumped for a better horseman. What we do know is that when the Mongol Empire expanded and conflicted with the Chinese, ice cream followed in their footsteps, allowing Polo to nick the idea—and for Italians to proclaim how clever they are for centuries afterward.

My Y2K experience was I was flying back from doing 2 week annual training for the Reserves. On the NYE flight from San Juan passengers were a little edgy, We arrived MIA about 9 pm. There were not many people in the airport, very unusual there.

I had a connecting on to New Orleans that would land around 1 am NYD, meaning the Y2K moment would happen over the Gulf. Of course I was worried that the Nav system would fail based on all the hype. Usually New Orleans flights are pretty full of people in party mode. The plane had only about 8 passengers and nobody was talking to anyone, even the crew.

We arrived no glitches. However, my AA flight didn't use the normal concourse. Instead used a gate at the end of the Delta concourse, which added to the weirdness. Absolutely everything was closed and we 8 passengers were the only ones visible in the airport except for a security guy here and there. The walk to the cab stand felt surreal and very, very long.

"Yes, they got it up, but they could not keep it up!"

It's true that the former Soviet Union beat the United States to successfully launching an earth satellite, but all Soviet satellites of that era quickly deorbited and fell from space. At least three US satellites of that era are still orbiting with years upon years remaining.

Although the condition is rare, there are indeed some people who are immune to the effects of marijuana. Studies suggest that it may be a condition of heredity. Studies to investigate the possibility of sensitization of immune individuals have been mostly inconclusive.

Sharks and rays also share the same kind of skin: instead of scales, they have small tooth-like spikes called denticles. The spikes are so sharp that shark skin has long been used as sandpaper.

Go to a traditional sushi bar, and it's likely that the sushi chef will be grating wasabi root on a sandpaper block made of shark skin.
