One, at the Downtown Grand three years ago. We were overnighting there after being laid up when our connecting flight on SW got cancelled. I was playing my $10 free play, so I was only playing dimes. A few hands in I got dealt a royal. When it happened the security guard sitting not too far behind me at his station said "Don't see that happen much." I played a few more hands and cashed out for $415.

Coming up on nearly 5 years ago. I didn't have a camera or the where-with-all to take a pic with my phone. I was dealt it on .25 cent 5-play for $5000 at Orleans. I thought my heart would completely jump out of my chest. I had "heard" of such a thing, but never in a million years thought it'd happen to moi!

These are all my Dealt Royals, the two 3-Play the hearts and diamonds $12K in 2015 , and the Club in 2018. One was in Caesars Palace and 2 were in Caesars AC. BTW, the Clubs is sequential. I HAD TO DELETE ONE AND RE-EDITED. THE HEART $8K THAT WAS HERE WAS NOT A SEQUENTIAL AND REMOVED MY BAD. I have another one somewhere but can't find it. I'll settle for three for now.

My contribution to the "auto-hold" club.

First Vegas Royal (2nd Royal overall) at Flamingo on Presidents' Day 2012. Too bad I was playing for cheap beer as I was nearly broke!!! Muttered "holy shit" for a few minutes. And later found a t-shirt in the gift shop for $4 that I deem "My Lucky Flamingo Shirt".

My first was three years ago at the Isle of Capri in Vicksburg, MS. We were just putting 100 points on our cards for a free buffet. I was at 98 points and playing triple play double bonus nickels when I was dealt a royal in diamonds. It was nice to be payed $630 for the buffet. My next dealt royal was two years ago at the Silverton. My wife was a new player sign up. She was loosing right and left trying to get 2500 points for $50 in free play. She was a little over 100 points away and asked me to play the rest for her after playing her card. I was doing well on a wheel deluxe machine and was around $190. I went back to play it after checking her points total at the kiosk. My machine was taken. I went over to the super bonus game that plays extra for quads. I was playing triple play nickels when I was again dealt a royal in diamonds. I cashed out $777 up for the day once we finished getting her points. My third was at the Cherokee Casino at West Siloam Springs, OK. I was just playing a single play nickel machine when I was dealt one in clubs. My last was this past February at the Choctaw Casino, in Pocola, OK. I had finished a rather long poker session and my family I came with was ready to go. I was with my wife and mother in law just killing time at the ten play nickel machines waiting for my father in law to show up. I was suddenly dealt a royal in clubs for a nice $2000 win. I've only had two W-2's gambling and both have been at the Choctaw Casino.

I’d rather have a redraw Royal myself than a dealt.
It’s kinda like saying “take that you little bitch” after getting dealt crap to begin with

I tell the machines all the time that they actually could just deal it to me, but they never have. I have eight. My wife has two Royals, her first one was dealt.

If you always play single line, a dealt royal is roughly every 16 Royals on average.

When you do get one, hopefully you're playing multiline for significant money! :)

The statement implies that a person, for example, myself because I show 3 dealt Royals above. Even though I believe I have four but couldn't find it. I would mean I should have 48 Royals. While I've had a good share of Royals. I don't think I have that many.
This really should be written to all dealt Royals across all machines. I think people need to understand that the statistics mean to all Royals dealt anywhere VP is played.
There's a post about 4 Royals within a couple hours of play in the VP category. Many people have never had a Royal even though played more that 100,000 hands. In one of my posts when I was dealt the 3-play Royal, should I count it as 1 Royal or 3. Personally I should count it as 1 because normally a hand does not fill in the other two hands and lock. But by that statistic of having 3 royals would make my two 3-play Royals equal 6 Royals. That would mean that Instead of 43,000 hands there should be 129,000 hands interval between Royal. Even though I also play 5 and 10 play I've only had them on 1 and 3-play.

Personally, I don't concern myself about the statistics while I'm playing and I think the average player should not be so crazy about a few errors here and there and should forget about "perfect play". Humans are not perfect and never will be. Neither are computers because initially all statistics were gather by humans and the human programmed what data should be captured.

I do enjoy your posts, I think all this math over each hand is overrated. It's like the auto hold machines. They have some best hold technology but when I was playing it I thought some of the holds just wrong as well as WinPoker and wizard of odds. Some hands are inconsistent sometimes they hold certain combinations and other times they don't. I'm sure you could figure out the math, I can't but I'm all right with that. I'd rather figure out what stocks I'll buy or sell.

Well, strategy sometimes changes due to the cards you discard. Generally it's the LAST thing anyone should learn in terms of VP strategy. I rarely even concern myself with it. If I remember the "penalty exception", great, if not, no big deal. Only one of my over 500 quads in the last 5 years resulted by this change, afaik. I was initially dealt KT8 of clubs. The extra club made me do this at 7/5 Bonus instead of holding KT suited.

"Average", even when used correctly, is a bad word to use in VP when it comes to Royals. Most individuals experience with Royals won't be that close to average since it's such a rare event. Many will have less and many will have more. I'm probably close to average on Royals lifetime and above average with my single dealt Royal. And I'm definitely above average on Royals since I have kept track of every quad or better. So I'm definitely happy about that.

And if you have had 4 dealt royals, that's definitely above "average" if you've played less than 2 million DEALS for sure. That's 4000 hours (2 years worth of full-time work) at 500 rounds per hour. As for me personally, I tend to play enough where I hope for roughly one Royal of any type a year...

Sorry for delayed response, but it was at MSS and their points=dollars coin in and it keeps track as you play as 'points earned today'.

Oh, and here's the picture Ieft off from before, grabbed it from the relevant trip report:
