I can't think of any place we frequent that would cause us any long-term angst if told our visits were no more. Disappointment? Yes, big time. But in the grand scheme there are way too many places to go, things to see and do, to let it put a damper on the fun of life. Now having written that, I hope we're never told that New Zealand or Kauai, for instance, are forever off limits.

    Did it close?

I'd be OK. I have plenty to do around here, anyway.

...I would just start the process of getting on the casino radars in Reno, Tahoe & Laughlin... as a downtown guy, I'd probably feel right at home in Reno & Laughlin

I guess we would be very disappointed. We usually fly 10 trips per year and usually 8 of those are to Vegas. Almost all are just 4 night trips and that is enough at one time.

We go to gamble and don't do any of that back here even though we have a very large Indian casino within 25 miles. We just don't like the vibe in there.

We only fly SW and we only fly non-stop, so it does limit where we travel. Day trips in the car are ok, but no more cross country trips, or at least none with night driving involved.

From a travel perspective? Sure. I travel lots of places that aren't Nevada and there is always somewhere new I'm looking to explore.

From a gambling perspective? Sure. Assuming that the reason I can't visit Vegas anymore doesn't limit me from Reno, Tahoe, Jackpot, Ely, etc. I don't really care for the casinos in WA state, but there are others.

From a personal perspective? I'd be sorry to lose Vegas as it's a fun place for me to solo travel and meet up with friends for shenanigans and good times. It would finally give me an excuse to close this place down and take some time off for the first time in almost 20 yrs. :wink2:

I guess I'd just have to settle for sticking to Paradise.

Yes. I'm a gal and I can live with not going to Vegas ever again. If I have to. I guess.

    However...How about a board-wide meet-up in 2019? Before we can't hypothetically go anymore.

I kinda felt like swearing off Vegas just a few days ago. I quietly slipped into town on Thursday after a week long business conference in So. Cal. I’d arranged for a couple day stay at my “happy place” (Hard Rock).

Everything couldn’t have been better until I threw my first hundy into my favorite VP bar top machine. I’ve never had a machine suck them outta my pocket so fast and so furious! I kept thinking this can’t really be happening, so I kept feeding it. $3K simply evaporated... I do recall 1 full-house... HA!

I got up and took my very expensive “complimentary” cocktail and watched the rest of the Rams game in the sports book. Next day, I spent a lotta time outside in the pool area relaxing... had a good sleep and went home Saturday.

I’ll go back, I’ve endured such a debacle before... but right now... no hurry.

There goes the cost of the “wall” about the compound. But you could have paid for it too if the cards coooerated.

    Sure, there is always Bangkok.
And since we have 6 casinos up here in our northern outpost now, the gambling thing won't be an issue.

Totally ok with it since I can now bet sports legally in my home state. Sports betting was 90% why I used to hit Vegas.
