    Yay more gay representation.

Similar to the new Vegas ads that emphasize romance and one-of-a-kind memories.

To me Vegas has felt pretty conservative and behind the times sexually. Sorry to burst any bubbles, but men in tuxes with showgirl babes is like 20 years behind the times, whether or not you can see a topless revue, and whether or not the hotels are friendly to LGBT travelers. The imagery has always been straight as razor, with rigid gender norms.

Notice the gender fluidity in the new Palms ad:

I love seeing this better representation without throwing away the best aspects of classic Vegas sexuality. :wiggle:

I liked the first two spots, but being old and practical, the entire time I watched the Palms spot, I was thinking that is going to be a lot of damages to pay for. It didn't sell me on new.

The Palms spot was weird...tossing a Molotov Cocktail in the kitchen, for example.

I understand normal, everyday demo work isn't as pretty but it seemed to me like they took it a step too far.

The other two were good, as was the diversity in the Palms one.

For Palms, the reality is not so rosy, after it became part of Stations.
Now it is just one the many local joints. I hardly see any difference between Palms, Palace Station or Fiesta Rancho,

The wedding one made me tear a bit:) I had seen the shorter version on TV and thought great then. Was nice to see the whole ad. Very Sweet. Like others, I do not like the palms one. I just thought of old rockers violently trashing a room for no reason. And the chef/ cook flaming the kitchen? Not good (IMO). Sweet sells better than violence.

I agree with the Palms spot as far as tossing a molotov cocktail. The flaming kitchen at a Vegas hotel was in poor taste given the fact that the main reason for the MGM fire in 1980 was an electrical fault in the kitchen at the Deli that killed 87 people.
Perhaps i'm being overly dramatic about something that happened 30+ years ago, but i stilll remember it like it was yesterday.

Agree, the wedding one made me feel a bit weepy as well (and I’m not typically a cryer). So nice to see diversity being embraced by my favorite city. There’s so much hand-wringing about how to attract Milleaneals and young people. Well...that’s it!

As for the Palms ad, I was thinking “hey, the room they’re trashing looks pretty nice. So you’re saying you did away with that and replaced it with a gimmicky shark?

I like all the spots. The Palms one is wild in a good, interesting way. Except that it might be more effective if they were remodeling from something that looked more like the old Palace Station to something that looked like what they are destroying in the spot.

If you poke around CET's website, they have been ahead of most every other gaming operation in terms of LGBT support.

Not in their mainstream marketing imagery. MGM also has/had special LGBT sites for their casinos showing the same events with different pictures. But mainstream advertising, especially sexual imagery has not changed. Shows, dancing dealers, cocktail waitresses, pool servers are mostly more of the same. Even shows with gay followings like Thunder Down Under market to straight women.
Take Wynn. They had LGBT concierges for years to make visitors more welcome but then have a super het pink ball blue ball show at the waterfall. I think it's kinda cringe for many millennials and younger.
I think all of this is simply because casino tourists are a bit older. Actors in ads are in their 30s, but core audience is 50s. Conservative international visitors also encourage caution.
Things are starting to change ... Hamburger Marys is coming to the strip... Starting to see women in ads that aren't so traditionally femme.

Let me put it this way: they've always been after gay tourism, but now they're enfolding it into their mainstream advertising campaigns.

We've seen the now and then ad where we live in DC quite a few times recently, I think it's a great ad. Matter of fact, any ad I can see about Vegas gets me incredibly excited for my next trip!

I see Las Vegas has a Hamburger Mary's, their opening menu has things like Que Sera Quesadillas and "Proud Mary" Burger, but the address I see on their Internet page is not on the Strip,

    https://www.hamburgermarys.com/lasvegas/menu/

Are they branching to the Strip? Any review of the food?

I'm pretty sure I heard this on Five Hundy or the Vital Vegas podcast. Maybe it was an old episode and I confused Flamingo Road with Flam? Not sure

A bit older? Wynn had Showstoppers with archeologic Broadway tunes, and recently hosted Tony Bennett and the revived corpse of Paul Anka. They are still marketing towards the average millenial and/or gay & lesbian visitors' grandparents.

It's nice to see casinos doing this, but let's face it... They want the spending power of the community. This isn't a matter of an open or closed mind to them. It's profit.

Truth be told, for as many gay folks who visit Vegas, it's not a particularly GLBT friendly place to me.

Vegas has always struck me as squarely middle America: A place where Ma and Pa Kettle come to blow off steam. While the city has no problem with T&A, the minute you put something different into the mix, there's a fair amount of backlash.

I remember some of the things that were said when Zumanity opened with two men sharing a kiss onstage... It was and remains a polarizing act in the show.

It's amazing to me that MGM can put together really well done, high quality promotional videos meanwhile their websites have been very disappointing for so many years.

Agree, except that the other Station "local joints" have better pay tables available on video poker, at least at the $1 and up level.
