    My Trip Report

Ever watch your countdown timer get SO CLOSE and you can’t take it anymore so you change your flight a day early to get there that little bit faster?

Tick tock tick tock... I couldn’t take it anymore. I was supposed to go tomorrow, but I rearranged some things and I’m at the airport now!

I’m well into my 40s in trip count. Vegas and I have an old, complicated relationship. But this trip stands to be different in so many ways.

I have not stayed on the strip in nearly a decade. This trip is largely at Elara to burn some non-refundable spend I had at Hilton. The first night is at Bally’s because they somehow want to give me a free room for 12 hours. Thanks CET!
This is nearly twice as long as my usual trip. I am at the airport now. I leave Thursday late AM. 5 full days and a travel day on either side.
I have had time to plan and anticipate - so many of my previous trips had less than 3 days of lead time - I took my time where I could. I’ve known about and booked this trip months out.
I’m happily married. So many of these trips happened while *un*happily married (to someone else). It’s honestly been weird to have been supported and not just growled at.
I left my laptop at home. I am an IT engineer by trade. I can work from anywhere that he internet. I bring my work everywhere - often times 5 minutes of my time can save people hours. I have worked from Vegas hotel rooms many times. This is the longest time I’ll have been away from my work laptop in probably half a decade. I took the notifications of my work email off of my phone too. It’s only been an hour but.. it’s liberating.

No endeavor should be attempted without some goals:
Pay 30 hours of poker in 5.5 days. I’d really like to make that 50, but 10h/day seems steep.
No tilt. Keep it under control or get up.
Spend an hour at the pool, twice. Maybe acquire a magazine and just read. I even brought a bathing suit. Just in case.
Get out to 7 magic mountains. I like things like that. While I have the car, Red Rock? Valley of Fire?
Start playing VP. I need an excuse to go to Ellis Island and full pay VP sounds like that excuse. I’d like to get back to Main Street, too. The whole b connected thing has annoyed me, but I am not really looking for a comp anyway. I guess.
Log 5 mi/day walking. Should be easy on the strip.
Sleep. I have historically a hard time sleeping in the desert. I’m a little hopeful that a Hilton, non gaming hotel just a little removed from the thick of it helps. I spend 40 nights a year in their bed. I hope it does me well.

I promise not to alliterate the whole time - there will also be other contrived uses of the English language - haiku, limerick, puns. An occasional dad joke. More than one string of cusses that will make a sailor blush when some donkey from Los Angeles crushes me with a 3-outer on the river and ‘totally had it, man.’

30 minutes to boarding and we’ll be on our way to Mecca.

Today starts my long desert bash -
The one where I win lots of cash
    I’m very excited
    To fly on United.
I just hope the plane doesn’t crash

So you are a newbie to the biggest excuse in Las Vegas to let time fly? :woohoo:
I wonder if you will have beginner's luck and hit a Royal on the first try.

Don't worry if you sleep not,
As long as you hit that jackpot.
May your bankroll not turn to pity,
rather have great luck in Sin City.

The paths to Mecca are many
    Downsides? there aren't any
    By keeping your cool
    And not acting the fool
You'll return with a pretty penny.

    Following!
